Concerts and other activities to Mark KSA’s 35 years as ‘King of Juju Music’ will take place in London, Washington, Lagos, and Ibadan.
The Chairman of Amazing Communication, Lekan Alabi, said on Thursday that his company has concluded plans to commemorate Afro Juju Maestro, Sunny Ade’s 35 years as “the King of Juju Music”.
In an interview in London, Mr. Alabi said the events would take place in London, Washington, Lagos, and Ibadan.
He said the decision to organise the event is in recognition of Mr. Ade’s contribution to the growth and development of the music industry in Nigeria.
He said the afro juju maestro, popularly called KSA, has been a ‘consistent’ good ambassador of Nigerian culture and industry especially on the global music stage.
Mr. Alabi, whose company is based in both Nigeria and the UK, explained that activities to mark the event would include concerts, lectures and awards.
“KSA is Nigeria’s brand in the international entertainment scene, hence the imperativeness to celebrate his creativity, excellence, durability and global acceptability as a beacon to our young, rising stars in the entertainment industry,” he said.
He said the London event would be in collaboration with the Nigerian High Commission in the UK.
Mr. Ade was crowned King of Juju Music on April 23, 1977 after topping a poll conducted by the defunct Entertainer Magazine published by the Sketch Publishing Company Limited.
