Court orders Nollywood actor to pay N600,000 arrears of rent in 14 days

Nollywood actor, Fred Amata, was on Wednesday ordered by a Surulere Magistrates Court in Lagos to pay one year rent arrears amounting to N600, 000 to his landlord.

Mr. Amata was dragged to court in September 2010 by his landlord, Pa I. Fadoyebo, who asked the court to help him repossess his house from the actor.

He claimed that Mr. Amata owed arrears of rent on the four-bedroom bungalow he was occupying at No 8, Razaq Balogun St., Surulere, adding that the rent had accumulated from October 2009 to September 2010.

In his judgment, Magistrate Mukaila Fadeyi did not order Mr. Amata to vacate the property, but ordered him to pay the arrears within 14 days.

He blamed the lack of diligence prosecution on the part of Fadoyebo’s counsel, Y. A Adeshina, for the court’s inability to assist the landlord in re-possessing the house.

Mr. Fadeyi faulted the tenancy agreement signed between both parties, saying it was not dated while the seven-day quit notice was not served on Amata.

Mr. Fadoyebo had on February 7 testified that Mr. Amata was a bad tenant who brought all manners of people into his compound.

Mr. Amata was not present throughout the court proceedings and neither he nor his counsel, Chris Okoh, was in court when the judgment was delivered.

This man is NOT an actor but a digress to nollywwod. He is living in a house neither him nor his parents built and choosed to cause pain to this old man that used his life savings to build the house. I suggest, this judgement should be widely circulated.
How can a man who would wait for an order from the court to pay the rent of the house where he lives with his family (if he has any) be celebrated?
The taste of the pudding is in the eating as they say. I am strongly convinced that the evil men do would definitely catch if up with them. This movie fellow has ruined his career, no wonder he is the way he is. He can never prosper with this surt of life, am sorry
