Kannywood actor, Adam Zango, has denied sacking actress, Rahama Sadau, from his movie because she refused to date him.
In a recent post on her Instagram page, Ms. Sadau had claimed that Mr. Zango had offered a role in a new movie on the condition that she dated him.
She said she lost the role after rejecting his advances.
“Why are people feeling so important in this life? Look, right before you de-cast (sic) me in your movie I have already done that. Because am (sic) not that cheap to beg for what you are thinking of.
“Declining your love will not take me down. I AM RAHMA SADAU, and I made it to the peak of where I wanted to be without you, @de_prince_zango I don’t need a senseless people (sic) to contribute more to my career. I have ALLAH and the right man that always stand by me no matter how I become @realalinuhu…. I don’t give a F**k Mr. ***,” Ms. Sadau had written.
A close ally of Ms. Sadau, who declined to be named for fear of backlash, confirmed the actress’ version of events to PREMIUM TIMES.
However, a day after, Ms. Sadau apologised for her rant on the same platform.
“I was so childish, disrespectful and stupid yesterday,” she wrote. “For that, I want to send my warm apology to @de_prince_zango and the entire members of White House family. Plus my directors for making me realize my mistakes and wrongdoings (sic).”
Speaking to PREMIUM TIMES, Mr. Zango expressed his disappointment over his colleague’s accusations.
“I felt very bad that a young girl who is just starting in the industry would have the guts to say such a fib about me. I was really (sad) that not even her friends or our colleagues who she sees as her godfathers will caution her before she went to the internet to lie about me,” he said.
He denied ever offering Ms. Sadau a role in exchange for a relationship.
“I never asked Rahama out,” he said. “I only invited her to come and act alongside me in a movie I’m producing. Not quite long before I started shooting, which was just few weeks ago, I heard from a colleague how terrible she can be on location. She will never listen not to even her director and she feels very haughty.
“I made my personal research about her and realized she is not a team player. As my film was a big budget (one), I dare not risk it. Subsequently, I announced to her that I will not feature her again but maybe some other time when I’m more comfortable with her.”
He claimed it was anger at being sacked that made Ms. Sadau lash out at him on Instagram.
“One thing that makes me get so hurt anytime I remember what she wrote is the fact that nothing like that happened and abusing me directly is not what I expected from a girl. I am far far her big big brother,” Mr. Zango said.
Although she apologised, Mr. Zango said the damage had already been done, his integrity had been jeopardized in the eyes of some people.
“The damage has already been done. You can imagine somebody like Rahama Sadau will give me those words. She is like a younger sister to me and a student. At the appropriate time, you will see what I will do,” he stated. “I am a good person with lot of fans so I won’t allow small issues like this distract me. My fans are my drive, they love me and applaud me every time they see me and my desire is to make them happy always. No amount of intimidation will cost me my career. My fans will determine my future.”
Falalu Dorayi, a Kannywood director, expressed his disappointment with the actress.
“As a director/actor, I am disappointed by Sadau’s attitude and surely she ought to be sorry for such a negative style of approach to one of the pillars of Kannywood (Adam Zango),” Mr. Dorayi said.
He called on other actors and actresses to tread with caution and learn to manage their anger. He insisted that Kannywood was a family and must live as one.
