Kenyan Afro-pop group, Sauti Solas, has been announced as the winner of Best African Act at the 2014 MTV EMA, beating nominees including Davido, Toofan, Diamond and Goldfish to win the category.
MTV revealed this on Thursday in a press statement.
Over the years Nigerian artists have had significant success in the Best African Act category.
The Afro-pop group, who are the first Kenyan act ever to receive this award, now have the opportunity to be voted into the prestigious Worldwide Act award category.
The winner will be revealed during the 2014 MTV EMA in Glasgow.
British rock legend Ozzy Ozbourne will be honored with the Global Icon Award.
The 2014 MTV EMA will be broadcasted live from the SSE Hydro in Glasgow on MTV and MTV Base on Sunday 9 November at 22:00 CAT.
