A representative of Jolie confirmed the development to the CNN on Thursday.
The couple married in a small, private ceremony in a chapel at Château Miraval in the village of Correns.
The couple’s relationship became famous following Pitt’s split from popular “Friends” star, Jennifer Aniston, in 2004.
Jolie and Pitt, according to reports, had fallen in love while filming Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Though there were rumours of Pitt cheating on Aniston, the duo however denied.
Jolie and Pitt, who have six children, announced their engagement in 2004. Aniston is currently engaged to actor Justin Theroux.
