Fati Musa wins her first award in Kannywood
On Sunday, at the Galaxy Hall, Kaduna, Fati Musa bagged her first ever acting award at the Kokobi Film Awards.
She won Best Actress for the movie, Macijiya, which came out in 2013.
Fati has been in the industry since 2010 but behind the scenes. Macijiya is her first movie as an actress.
Speaking to PREMIUM TIMES, Fati said she was optimistic that 2014 would be a good year for her.
Rabiu Rikadawa, Alhassan Kwalle, Fati Mohammed, Aisha Yar’ Kano also bagged awards.
Waje gets Black Canadian Awards nomination
Singer, Waje, has been nominated in the International Act category of the 2014 Black Canadian Awards scheduled for March 1 at the Queen Elizabeth Theater in Toronto.
Waje and five others, including Ghanaian Reggae star, Samini, will be competing in the same category.
The awards show celebrates the success stories and the achievement of trail-blazers and leaders within the black community. Categories for the awards are: Business and Professional Excellence, Community Development, Entertainment and Role Models.
Waje released her debut album W.A.J.E in 2013.
Wizkid hit 1 million followers on Twitter
Pop star, Wizkid, has become the first Nigerian artiste to have the highest number of followers on micro blogging site, Twitter.
Wizzy, as he is also called, reached 1,000,245 followers as at February 19.
Other celebrities close to the 1 million mark are D’banj with 816,000 followers, Don Jazzy – 719,000, and 2face Idibia – 686,000.
Nollywood actress Genevieve Nnaji has 543, 000 followers.
Skales may move to Timaya’s Dem Mama Records
Rapper, Skales, is reportedly set to pitch his tent with Timaya’s Dem Mama Records following his exit from the Banky W-led EME.
Entertainment magazine, HipHop Magazine, citing a source, said there are indications that Timaya and Skales may end up doing business as Skales has already moved into Timaya’s Lekki home.
Skales’ three-year contract with EME ended in January. According to sources, the label chose not to renew the contract because it had failed to make returns on its original investment.
Uti Nwachukwu confirms relationship with Saeon.
A former Big Brother Africa All Stars winner, Uti Nwachukwu, has confirmed his relationship with budding singer, Saeon.
Speaking to Encomium Magazine, Uti said the couple had wanted the relationship to be private but was surprised to find that some loose-lips had leaked it to the press.
“We don’t know how it came to the knowledge of the public. Saeon likes her privacy just like me too,” he said.
Uti, who currently co-hosts Jara with comedian, Helen Paul, however said it was still too early to start talking about marriage.
