How to spend Valentine’s Day with N5,000

let the loving begin
The month of love is here and the “D-day” is almost here. January left us feeling the effects of Christmas and New Year spending.

PREMIUM TIMES gathered  a couple of fun things that you could do with your significant other this Valentine for just under N5, 000.

Luckily, it falls on a Friday. This gives room for relaxing as many people won’t have to bother themselves with work the next day.

The Gift

This is second most important part of the love celebration. Whether you are exchanging them or the gifts are coming from just one party, everyone, especially the ladies, look forward to this part.

Depending on the taste of that special one, and what you are comfortable with, you can get a decent gift for about N1500: a pair of boxers, a nice T-shirt, a teddy bear, nice smelling perfume, flowers and a box of chocolate.

Remember, it’s the thought that counts. So, whatever you give, give with love.

The Date

This is the most romantic part of the day. So, it is all about the atmosphere that will put you in the mood for what comes up later.

If you are living in Abuja, you could visit a scenic venue like the Millennium Park or Jabi Lake. In Lagos, the beaches are not a bad idea. Ride on a horse or a boat.  Either of these should cost a maximum of N1,000 for a couple.

You could also decide to buy snacks and have a romantic picnic for two. Depending on where you are hanging out, N3,000 should get you a nice spread of roasted/barbecued meat and drinks: N2, 000 for the meat, N1, 000 for drinks.

Don’t forget to take pictures of those beautiful moments.

In lieu of an outdoor hangout, you could visit the cinemas. There may be a Valentine’s Day package which would make the tickets or refreshments cheaper. Movie tickets for a couple should cost at most N3, 000. Buy a couple of drinks and enjoy your movie as you hold hands.

If you want to spend the night at home, a romantic candle-lit dinner should not set you back too much. N2, 000 should get you all the condiments you need for a nice meal for two. Buy a N800 to N1,500 bottle of wine and voila! Let the loving begin!

No matter how much you spend or how you choose to celebrate with your boo, remember it’s the loving that counts; make it good.
