The MTN Kannywood awards held on Saturday saw top actors and actresses in the Hausa movie industry win laurels for their roles in different films.
The ceremony was held at the Sultan Bello Nasarawa in Kano and ended in the early hours of Sunday.
The event was the first to be organised and sponsored by the telecommunication firm, MTN; and witnessed a large turn out of Kannywood celebrities.
Popular actor, Ali Nuhu, who returned from South Africa hours before the event, bagged the Best Actor Award; while Nafisa Abdullahi received the Best Actress Award.
Sani Danja and Adam Zango won the Best Entertaining Kannywood Actor and Best Music Composer respectively.
Naziru Ahmed won the best singer award while his elder brother, Aminu Saira, bagged the best director award.
The best Kannywood movie of 2013 was given to “Wani Gari.”
Audu Kano, Samanja, and Kasimu Yero received the life time movie awards.
The events was thrilled by musical performance from Sani Danja and his dance crew.
