The awards cost the organisers about N50 million.
The Best of Nollywood, an award event that recognizes successful practitioners in the Nigerian film industry, will, on November 6, hope to set a world record by rolling out a 6 km red carpet at the 5th edition of the awards in Asaba, Delta State.
In a chat with PREMIUM TIMES, the executive producer of BON, Seun Oloketuyi, revealed that this year’s event would be more glamorous and prestigious as over 500 people would be flown to Asaba.
“BON Awards is Nigeria’s longest serving Nollywood awards. The good thing about this year’s edition is that we would be breaking a world record with the longest red carpet which is over 6 km,” Oloketuyi said.
Speaking on the focus and credibility of the award, Oloketuyi said, “When we started 5 years ago, there was no award body for Nollywood. There used to be TEMA and REEL but both stopped. Ours is a professional award which is different from other awards which are either honorary or viewer’s choice. The jury and panelists who work on entries also work without interference.”
He also spoke on the cost of organising this year’s edition.
“With support from the Delta State government and a few corporate sponsorship, this year’s edition is costing us over N50 million.”
