The movie title was a reference to an old Kannywood movie.
Popular Kannywood director, Aminu Saira, and Murtala Balala, led the Kannywood crew that participated in the production of the much anticipated movie, ‘Sabon Sangaya.’
The name Sangaya is one that observers conversant with the Hausa movie industry will not forget. Sangaya was one of the first movies produced by Kannywood in its early days.
“The Movie is titled Sabon Sangaya to bring back the memories of the early Kannywood days. I was the cameraman for the production (of the new movie) and also the assistant director of the movie,” Murtala Balala told PREMIUM TIMES.
“It was actually shot in many locations with majority of the scenes shot in Niger State. Sabon Sangaya was a classic; I bet you Sabon Sangaya will be the film to beat when it is out,” he added.
