Teni is one of the few African women composing jazz music.
British born jazz singer and composer, Teni, and her nine-piece band, The Afro-Renaissance, seeks to start a new movement as one of the very few African women composing jazz music and touring the world.
The rising afro-soul star’s message of African unity and upliftment backed with powerfully sensual live performance are sure to help her take the music world by storm.
Her highly anticipated debut album, “Afrodisiac” is a timelessly soulful, sensual jazz and afro beat inspired piece with sultry vocals, funky bass lines and hypnotic afro guitars. Influenced by Marvin Gaye, Fela Kuti, Aretha Franklin and Bob Marley, Teni composes original contemporary afro beat and afro soul as Fela’s legacy ignites the world from New York to London.
The ‘Afrodisiac’ debut album by Teni is currently out now on iTunes, Amazon Mp3 and Spotify.
She even appeared from time to time with Fela’s band, the Egypt 80, in Lagos for Fela’s son, Seun’s performance. This year, Teni has performed in Lagos, Accra and Johannesburg with her most recent performance at Wits University Theatre in Johannesburg and Ayo Bankole centre of Arts in May.
Teni’s new afro dance inspired single ‘Your Love Is The Key’ is currently enjoying airplays from London to Accra while her ‘Lionheart’ music video makes waves on Channel O.
This gifted singer-songwriter now looks firmly set to emerge as one of 2013’s finest new breakthrough artists with her self-produced album that was recorded entirely in Lagos, Nigeria and singles which have received airplay on the BBC and have been featured by NME, the original British rock music magazine, The Voice News, and the Washington Post.
