The company has decided that musicians rather than actors have more influence with young people.
Telecoms company, Globacom Nigeria, recently unveiled a new set of “ambassadors” that will represent the company in publicity and advertising campaigns.
According to reports by NET newspaper, the telecommunications company may be resting their deals with Nollywood actors and switching over to pop stars who, Glo believes, are more influential amongst the youth than their Nollywood counterparts.
The pop artistes include Omawumi, Waje, Flavour, Bez and Lynxxx. Other artistes such as Ice Prince and Wande Coal were rumoured to be etching out a deal with the telecoms company; but it seems that the deals fell through.
According to NET Newspaper, Omawumi, Waje, Lynxxx and Flavour will be featured on adverts for Glo’s Number Portability campaign.
