Director of the movie hopes the film will change the thoughts of people towards rape.
Short film director and newspaper columnist, Chris Ihidero, is surely a happy man as his 2012 rape-themed short movie, Big Daddy, has been a recipient of nine award nominations from three different awards body since it was released in mid 2012.
The most recent of the nominations is that by the AMAA movies award.
Responding to a PREMIUM TIMES inquiry, the director who doubles as the Editorial Board Chairman of NET Newspaper said:
“We are very happy and grateful to AMAA for the nomination. This is Big Daddy’s 9th nomination in less than a year and we have only entered it for 3 awards. It’s amazing how a labour of love has become the gift that keeps giving back. I’ll forever be grateful for all the amazing support we got from friends and associates, which made the dream come true and of course eternal gratitude to Amaka Igwe who allowed me to dream and continues to give me 100% backing”.
Mr. Ihidero hopes that the short movie has a profound effect on its audience.
“If this film changes the thoughts of just a few people towards rape, we would have achieved our aim. Rape is epidemic in our society and we need to do something meaningful to stop it, fast,” he said.
