Eket agog for 2face, Annie Macaulay’s traditional wedding, Friday

The two Nigerian celebrities have been together for a while.

After years of trials and baby-mama dramas, Nigerian singer, 2face, and Nollywood actress, Annie Macaulay, have succeeded in convincing sceptics that their over a decade long relationship was not just a flash in the pan, as their traditional marriage rites holds on Friday, at the Apostolic High School, Esit Urua Community, Eket – Ibeno Road, in Uyo, the bride’s hometown.

When the two love birds got engaged on Valentine’s Day last year, many thought a star-studded wedding was in the offing, instead, they settled for a private civil marriage in Lagos, shortly after.

2face defended the decision back then, saying the it was largely due to the deep respect he had for the feelings and emotions of the two major characters/lovers in his life – Sunmbo Ajaba and Pero Adeniyi. The two bore him four children, with the sixth(Adeniyi’s) born last year.

But, critics swallowed his comments with a pinch of salt.

Now, barely a year later, the couple appear to be singing a different tune as they plan a star studded wedding and honeymoon in faraway, Dubai, United Arab Emirates on March 23.

The question now on the lips of fans and industry watchers is, what could be responsible for the new tale?

According to the singer’s publicist, Bayo Omisore, plans are already in top gear at ensuring that the celebrations is hitch-free.

Omisore also adds that the three available flights scheduled to fly to Uyo, Akwa-Ibom State, today, may be insufficient for the number of guests being expected.

Already, the likes of Sound Sultan, Kate Henshaw, Iyanya, and Tana Adelana amongst others, are expected to grace the occasion.

Air conditioned buses have also been stationed at the airport to convey guests to their hotels as the two families eagerly await the marriage rites, with red and gold as the theme colour, to kick-off in earnest.

Naomi Adenuga, the bride’s publicist, has refused to divulge the wedding budget, but says that so much has been put into logistics for the marriage.

“It is the exclusive privilege of the couple to give a figure what it cost to put this together, but the guests are being kept in beautiful hotels and well-taken care of. The two families are already prepared and Eket town is brimming with activities in anticipation of the entertainers who would be around and probably perform at the event,” she said.

Like every artiste of his ilk, the wedding and relationship has been hit by a series of bad press and setbacks, which is largely as a result of 2face’s previous dalliances with various ladies.

Thankfully, the much-awaited traditional marriage is a pointer to the fact that the lanky singer has made a life-long decision-hopefully, to cling to his sweet heart, Macaulay, who bore him a daughter, Issabella a few years back.

Shedding light on the choice of Macaulay, 2face said,“Like any other thought about something important, you start feeling the need to do something or go somewhere different from deep within. Then you just make your move one time; no shaking. The timing for marriage should not be determined by any outside influences”.
