M-Net is looking forward to create a magical night come March 9.

The first ever AfricaMagic Viewers’ Choice Awards will hold this Saturday, March 9, in Lagos.

The event will be broadcast live on DSTV and GoTV and hosted by IK Osakioduwa and Vimbai Muntinhiri.

Musical entertainment will be provided by Afro-Beat King, Femi Kuti, and his band, the Positive Force; Tiwa Savage; and Kenyan afro-pop band, Sauti Sol.

Guests and award presenters include Richard Mofe Damijo (RMD), Chinedu Ikedieze, Desmond Eliot, Fabian Adeoye Lojede, Funlola Aofiyebi-Raimi, Genevieve Nnaji, Jim Iyke, Joseph Benjamin, and Ghanaian movie star, Majid Michel.

“The AfricaMagic team has been focused and working hard to make it an unforgettable inspiring celebration of African film success and TV talent. It ‘s our way of showing just how much we value what our artists, both in front and behind the scenes, contribute to our lives and the lives of our audiences,” the Managing Director of M-Net Africa, Biola Alabi, said.

She added that she and the team are looking out to a wonderful night come March 9 despite “the emotional legacy” of the fire outbreak at M-Net’s Ojota studio on March 2.

“We had invested widely in the facility, securing state of the art technology, training and up-skilling a wide variety of crews, growing our writers and directors while creating some very special productions. The physical investment will definitely be rebuilt because we are committed to this market. The spirit of determination and hope lives in the fact that we can create an awards show such as the AMVCAs and with it, hopefully a night of magic!” she said.
