D’Banj drops new album March 30

The much anticipated D’banj’s album will be released on March 30.

Nigeria’s pop sensation and DB/Good Music/ Mercury/IDJ artiste, Dbanj, will launch his much-anticipated album on March 30.

The album pre-sale, will, however, kick off on Friday, March 1.

The album will be the first off his new personal record label, DB Records, which has his younger brother, Kay Switch, signed on.

The album was set to be released on December 2012 (after the official cover art was revealed), but was moved; with no reason given for the shift. Anticipation has been heightened following the initial postponement and D’banj’s announcement of the new launch date on twitter.

The work will feature a compilation of his label’s artistes, Kay Switch, J Sol, alongside Dbanj. Also, his hit track, Scape Goat remix with Kanye West, is tipped to make the final album cut and feature production imprints from Dbanj’s in-house producers, Jay Sleek and DeeVee.

The pop star tweeted about the release, saying, “D Kings Men Album out March 30th. Presale from This Friday MAR 1 2013… Thank u all for the Long wait…as they say the patient dog eats the fattest bone. FOOD is ready DB RECORDS PRESENTS IT’s 1st OFFICIAL ALBUM.”

Although there has been no official statement from Dbanj about other surprise guest appearances on the album, a recent picture of Dbanj and Yoruba lyricist, Olamide, in the studio which surfaced online, hints of a collaboration in the works or already concluded.

As a build-up to the album launch/release, Dbanj’s popularity will be put to the test while music enthusiasts wait with bated breath to critically compare the work with that of his erstwhile partner, Don Jazzy-led Mavin Records.
