The play will hold at the Muson Centre, Lagos, Nigeria.

After a successful run of April Fool in 2012, the award winning on air personality, Yaw of Wazobia FM, is set for another interesting stage play titled The Bar.

According to him the play which is slated for Sunday, March 3, is a satire on everything that has happened in the country in the last one year.

“We are using satire to pass our message because we want people to come laugh , learn and ultimately make our country a better place for us all,” he said.

Yaw’s publicist, Olujuwon Bukunola-Philips, also adds that this is the fifth edition of Yaw’s back2stage project, a concept designed to revive Live Theatre culture in the country.

“In the last four editions this Olympic touch bearer, Yaw has acted alongside the likes of Koffi, Mc Abbey, Owen Gee and Jude Orhorha, this year he will be acting alongside the delectable and award winning actress, Funke Akindele –Oloyede also an Olympic touch bearer,” the publicist said.

Explaining the reason behind the choice of a female act, Bukunola-Phillips said ”Yaw decided to feature a woman , so that it will not look as if it’s a men’s world , all the time. Funke generally known as Jenifa was chosen because she is talented, versatile , creative and spontaneous. Her movie credits is endless, She has produced lots of movies and featured in several others.”

The play is directed by the producer of the popular comedy show, Stand Up Nigeria, Bunmi Davies , who has directed several plays, like Hell Invitation, Iyawo Or Iyawo, How the Fool Fell In Love, Devil is Liar among others.

The Bar, a two man play, is written by a talented scriptwriter, Obi Martins, a Theatre Arts graduate of the Lagos State University.
