Linda, Charly boy’s alter ego will take charge as one of the judges of Nigerian Idol season III.
Controversial Nigerian singer and former president of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria, Charly Boy, has never minced words about the existence of what he refers to as his ‘alter ego,’ Linda.
According to him, Linda represents his feminine side and the woman in him.
He says, “It is that Linda that wears makeup. She directs me on how to be compassionate like women and also responsible for all the humanitarian works he had done over the years. Without Linda, I could not have done all that.”
While many are yet to digest the meaning and idea behind his new personality, the singer who is one of the judges on the Nigeria Idols music reality show, says he will be introducing ‘Linda’ to the world as she will be taking his place on the show when it hits the screens in December.
Charly Boy made this known during the Nigerian Idol season III launch held in Lagos recently. He said he would still be on the judges’ seat, except this time as his alter ego Linda. As such, Linda will join the other judges Yinka Davies and Jeffrey Daniels.
In a related development, co-host, Tiwa Savage, would not also be returning to the show this season as she is currently tidying up work on her forthcoming album. Her publicist says “It was difficult to combine with an increasingly time-consuming schedule. Nigerian Idol is something she will like to do again in the near future but not before she releases her new album amongst other things.”
Illrhymz and Tiwa Savage took over as hosts of Nigerian Idol II from Misi Molu and Anis Halloway in September 2011. Nigerian Idol season III would be aired in 14 countries including Canada, the star prize has also been increased from N15m to N20m and the audition cities increased from four to five. The maiden broadcast for season III scheduled for December 16 is themed ‘Be the voice of tomorrow’.
Abuja audition would hold at Rock View Hotel on October 13 by 9 a.m.; the Port Harcourt audition at Presidential Hotel on October 20 by 9 a.m.; and Imo audition at the Imo Concorde hotel on October 27 by 9 a.m. Other audition venues include Excalibur Hotel, Benin City on November 3 by 9 a.m.; and Bamako Studios, Lagos on November 10 by 9 a.m.
