Organizers of The Headies, formerly known as the Hip Hop World Awards, have revealed that Afro beat king, Femi Kuti, will be performing at the 2012 awards scheduled for October 20 at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The performance which will be Kuti’s first ever at the awards show is already generating positive remarks.
Only a few weeks back, it was announced that the 50 year-old singer will be inducted into the Headies Hall Of Fame.
“It’s a kind of privilege, its good. I mean I would drink a bottle of champagne when I get it, we will celebrate her,” the three-time Grammy Award nominee said.
The full list of artistes scheduled to perform at the award ceremony will be announced at a later date by the organisers.
Other Hall Of Fame Inductees include Dayo ‘D1’ Adeneye, Kenny ‘Keke’ Ogungbe, Phillip Trimmel, Olisa Adibua, Obi Asika, Femi Akintunde Johnson, Sir Shina Peters and DJ Jimmy Jatt.
