Dana Airline suspended indefinitely by aviation authorities

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has suspended the operating license of Dana airline, agency’s spokesperson, Sam Adurogboye, has told PREMIUM TIMES a while ago.

Mr. Adurogboye explained that the suspension order commenced yesterday night when it was issued and that the suspension is to enable the agency “carry out its investigations”.

He explained that Dana Air had already complied with the order.

Moments after Mr. Adurogboye spoke to PREMIUM TIMES, spokesperson of the aviation ministry, Joe Obi, announced that the Federal Government had withdrawn the license of the airline for safety and precautionary reasons.

Earlier today, the Nigerian Senate asked the Federal Government to suspend the license of DANA airline and also suspend the boss of NCAA, Harold Demuren.

A Dana Air passenger plane carrying 153 people crashed in Lagos on Sunday killing all the 146 passengers and 7 crew members.

A yet to be confirmed number of residents living around the vicinity of the crash were also killed.

A total of 150 corpses were evacuated from the crash site as at 10 a.m on Tuesday.
