Nestle leads losers’ table

The Investors on the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE, on Thursday exchanged 343.345 million shares worth N4.03 billion in 5,415 deals.

This was in contrast to the 258.686 million shares valued at N2.92 billion exchanged in 5,109 deals on Wednesday.

The All-Share Index, however, dipped by 190.33 points or 0.47 per cent to close at 40,601.74 from the 40,792.07 recorded on Wednesday.

Similarly, the market capitalisation, which opened at N13.076 trillion, depreciated by N61 billion or 0.47 per cent to close at N13.015 trillion.

Nestle led the price losers’ table by N19.05 to close at N1, 120.95 per share. Guinness dropped N4 to close at N226, while Nigerian Breweries dipped by N2.25 to close at N159.45 per share. Oando lost N2.04 to close at N18.98, while Forte Oil fell by N1.60 to close at N90.20 per share.

On the other hand, Zenith Bank topped the gainers’ chart by 90k to close at N23.90 per share. CAP gained 33k to close at N46.99, while Diamond Bank grew by 25k to close at N6.90 per share. Afriprud appreciated by 23k to close at N3.04, while Transexpr rose by 22k to close at N2.28.

GTBank was the toast of investors, accounting for 46.45 million shares valued at N1.26 billion in 308 deals.

Transcorp followed with 34.13 million shares worth N120.38 million in 271 deals, while Zenith Bank sold 21.23 million shares valued at N486.33 million in 309 deals.
