Nigerian striker, Victor Anichebe, has said that he is very excited to complete a move to join Premier League side, Sunderland.
The 2nd year-old, who was a free agent, joins the Black Cats on a deal until the end of the season, and becomes manager David Moyes’ ninth signing of the summer.
Anichebe is no stranger to the Premier League having made over 130 appearances in his time under Moyes at Everton and a further 55 appearances with West Bromwich Albion between 2013 and 2016.
Speaking after the signing, Anichebe told his new club’s official website that he was happy to be in a familiar terrain.
He said: “I’m really happy to be here at a great club.
“I have a lot of good friends here and everyone knows that I know the manager really well.
“He brought me through as a young player and was a big factor in me coming here.
“I had a few options in England and Europe but the manager was a huge pull for me. He knows me inside out and I feel like he can get the best out of me,”Anichebe said.
Sunderland will hope the coming of Anichebe can help solve their goal scoring problems as they are already struggling in 16th place with three games into season.
