London club Arsenal have established a two-point gap at the summit of the EPL table after they scrapped a 1-0 win over Newcastle United on Saturday at the Emirates while their closest rivals, Leicester City, played out a barren draw against AFC Bournemouth.
The 72nd minute goal from French defender, Laurent Kosecieny, was enough to give the Gunners all three points and increase their tally to 42 from 20 games while Leicester on their part have 40 points from the same number of games.
Elsewhere, there was huge relief for Manchester United Coach, Louis Van Gaal, as his side finally halted their win-less run with a 2-1 victory over Swansea City.
Wayne Rooney was the hero at Old Trafford as the English striker netted the winning goal which incidentally now makes him the second all-time highest goal scorer in the Premier League with 188 goals to his name.
At Uptown Park, West Ham, in the day’s early kickoff, dented the top-four ambition of Liverpool as they beat the Reds 2-0.
There were also home wins for Norwich City, Sunderland and West Brom.
Manchester City are away to Watford in the day’s final fixture.
