Nigeria midfielder, Igiebor, may miss Catalunya friendly

Super Eagles of Nigeria

The footballers get ready for the Nations Cup.

Earlier indications that midfield anchor, Nosa Igiebor, will join the team for the Nations Cup in Catalunya may have evaporated as the technical crew of the team were still awaiting words from the player till later afternoon on the last day of 2012.

“We are still waiting words from Nosa at the moment, so we cannot say he will be in Catalunya or Faro for the game”, Team Secretary, Dayo Achor, said.

Celtic of Scotland playmaker, Rabiu Ibrahim, is expected to link up with the rest of the Nigerian team preparing for the Nations Cup when the team arrives in Spain early on the first day the New Year.

Mr. Ibrahim was expected to have arrived earlier but because of delays in his flight schedule, he was advised to join the team in Catalunya, Spain instead of coming to Faro, Portugal, where the team is currently camped. That means Ibrahim and hitman, Ikechukwu Uche, will be the last two players that will join the Eagles before the game on January 2.

The Nigerian national team will jet out to Catalunya from Faro at 5 a.m., Portuguese time, which is 6 a.m. Nigerian time. The team will have its lunch in Catalunya and will train on New Year day at about 7:15 p.m., which will be 8:15 p.m. Nigerian time.

Wednesday’s match against Catalunya selected, managed by Dutch legend, Johann Cryuff, will be played at the home of La Liga side, Espanyol, and the time of the game is 9:00 p.m. Nigerian time
