The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, will on Friday arraign the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Olusola Oyewole, alongside two others for alleged fraud.
The head of media of the Ibadan zonal office of the commission, Ayo Oyewole, who disclosed this to PREMIUM TIMES on Wednesday said others to be arraigned include Adeseye Ogulewe, the Pro-Chancellor of the university, and Moses Ilesanmi, the institution’s bursar.
He said the trio are to face charges at an Abeokuta court in respect of an alleged case of abuse of office and misappropriation of funds reported against them by petitioners from the institution.
Mr. Oyewole said the petition by staff of the university, now sacked, alleged that the three officials engaged in an “unbridled corruption and betrayal of public trust”.
The EFCC investigated the petition and found the officials culpable, leading to the arraignment.
The management, following the petition to the anti-graft agency, sacked the three whistleblowers as well as 18 other members of Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities, SSANU, a development which resulted in a protest that grounded academic and administrative activities.
The SSANU members have since embarked on strike for over one month, saying they will not return to work until the vice-chancellor and other accused step down.
