The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, FUTA, Akure, Adebiyi Daramola, was on Wednesday quizzed by anti-graft officials for alleged fraud.
Mr. Daramola and the Bursar of the university, Emmanuel Oresegun, were quizzed at the EFCC office in Ibadan on Wednesday evening.
The Zonal Head of Public Affairs of the EFCC, Ayo Oyewole, told PREMIUM TIMES that the duo were quizzed based on allegations of abuse of office and misappropriation of funds reported against them.
The anti-graft agency said it is investigating allegations of “corruption, fraud, criminal breach of trust, unlawful enrichment and conversion of millions of Naira of the university,” for personal use
“The Vice Chancellor allegedly drew furniture allowance annually instead of once in 4 years as approved and was paying himself housing allowance while residing in the University’s Vice Chancellor’s Quarters,” Mr. Oyewole said.
He said the petitioner also alleged that the Vice Chancellor diverted funds from various unrelated subheads to finance other projects without due process.
As at the time of this report, the vice chancellor and the bursar were still undergoing interrogation at the commission’s zonal office at Iyanganku, Ibadan.
