A former governor of Ekiti State, Niyi Adebayo, has accused Governor Ayodele Fayose of making mockery of governance in the state.

Mr. Adebayo, who led the south west state between 1999 and 2003, said two-term Governor Fayose had turned Ekiti into a pariah state.

“I don’t think there is anybody in Nigeria who will say he is happy with what is happening in Ekiti state,” Mr. Adebayo told journalists on Tuesday after a meeting of Ekiti’s All Progressives Congress members, at the national secretariat of the party in Abuja.

“Ekiti is being turned into a pariah state and it is unfortunate that this sort of thing is happening and that is why we who are in the opposition are putting our house in order and we believe that if we all stick together and make sure that the party is in stable state, we will be able to wrestle power back from the current governor (Ayodele Fayose) that is making mockery of our state.”

The APC said in a statement that the Abuja talks was a “reconciliatory meeting” convened by the deputy national chairman (South) of the APC, Segun Oni.

The meeting was attended by over 60 front-line APC leaders from Ekiti State including Mr. Adebayo, APC State chairman, Jide Awe; Ayo Arise; former member House of Representatives, Opeyemi Bamidele; former member House of Representatives, Bimbo Daramola, amongst others.

On the airport project in Ekiti state, Mr. Adebayo said, “Frankly speaking, even without paucity of fund, even with the way things were before, it is a surprise that anybody or any reasonable person will say that the priority for Ekiti state is an airport.

“It is definitely not an airport. We have an airport in Akure which is 45 minutes’ drive from our state capital. So building an airport in Ekiti state honestly is not a well taught out project.”

He said the APC had been having issues in the state, but was rallying its members to wrestle power from the Peoples Democratic Party.

Mr. Niyi Adebayo, you ought to ignore the lunatic as Pres. Buhari is ignoring him. Fayose is desperate to get Buhari’s attention, feeling very uncomfortable with Buhari’s silence on his crime in Ekiti state. But certainly he will get his date with justice!

    • Omoagunmate

The only attention fayose will get is the attention of the long arm of the law. All his crimes are on record. His involvement and complicity in the murder of opposition members and those he saw as threat to his evil ambition are all on record. His involvement and being the main actor in the Ekitigate scandal are all on record. He’s not having sleepless nights for nothing. He knows, we know, and above all, God Almighty knows that justice will sooner rather than later catch up with him. This is a new era, one that will consume the fayoses of this country without living a trace.

        Wasting your time boi

      APT RESPONSE! GOD BLESS YOU.

Well said. I have been saying that for a while now. He is scared, watch him run away when Buhari comes for him. That tout will never honor any invitation by the EFCC or any other investigative authority. He is a loud mouth scary cat and we have seen what people like him does. Beg !!..Kanu comes to mind.

  • JSA1

WELL, Uncle Niyi, the ball in your court with the rest of the Ekiti people. Remember this Yoruba adage which is translated in English as “IN THE ABSENCE OF THE CAT, THE RAT IS HAVING FUN”. Its up to you all to do the needful. I wish you all the best.

Well said but you were part (if not cause) of the Problem!

If the likes of Niyi had performed pretty well during their tenure as Governor, Fayose would not be occupying the Number 1 seat in Ekiti today.
All he achieved during His time was to party and frolic with university girls, no known capital project; he achieved nothing other than feathering His nest. Yeye de smell

    • PolyGon2013

      I totally agree.

    • smart choice

Leave the joker he’s looking for appointment that’s why he’s making some noise

  • MushinSpeaks

Revelations have shown he was never voted into office. The vagabond rigged himself into office but hey…he has nowhere to run. His nemesis will catch up on him. CHANGE is here.

    • smart choice

We voted him massively…. By 2017 you will know why we rejected APC developments. By the time they finish managing your lives Osun State workers will be like millionaires

  • Invictus

How best to destroy a people than what Jonathan did to Ekiti—force the worst one amongst them as their leader! Real mockery!

    • Adele Uhuru

your emphasis reflects APC’s best trick thus far- Re brand a known murderer of his people as a converted democrat, espouse conjectures and false propaganda creating a deplorable palpable atmosphere of fear, present this same fascist as the cure to their terrorism approach, willfully and forcefully rig that said dictator back into power with no economic policy except sedition against past government as a nation building agenda.. it is similar to the devil’s best trick – as you- create an atmosphere of doubt relative to it existence?

Basically APC took a people that “desperately hoped and prayed for change and turn them to the person who had shot, killed and abused them the last time he was in office”

      • Invictus

Really, Buhari is now a dictator for exposing all corruption of fortunado! You call all the looting and mismanagement being exposed conjectures and propaganda? By their fruit we shall surely know them.

        • Adele Uhuru

Now your interpretation of my stated remarks is a conjecture on its own, now I’ve said this coutless times- that yes PDP created an atmosphere of gross mismanagement which enabled criminality but APC has perfected that criminality, look through all APC states and the federal level included it’s same story all through …

  • tsunami1earthquake

O yeah, ex-governor Adebayo! Yes, I agree that Governor Fayose has turned Ekiti to a ‘pariah’ state because this governor happens to come from the PDP and NOT the APC that is now panacea for all ills in the Nigerian society! Tell me something, ex-Governor Adebayo, have you been talking to Lai Mohammed or have you just discovered the word, ‘pariah’, from the dictionary and liked it to a point you came to display your new ‘acquisition’ of knowledge here? In any case thank you and congratulations for this achievement.
