Gov. Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa says the people and government of the state will remain grateful to the Abacha family for creating Bayelsa.

Mr. Dickson stated this in a message to Mrs. Abacha, who turned 70 on March 4.

He described the wife of Nigeria’s late military dictator as a courageous, peaceful and loving woman.

He recalled the events that led to the eventual creation of Bayelsa.

Mr. Dickson added that “the government and people of Bayelsa will remain eternally grateful to the Abacha family for that singular act of love and concern for Bayelsans and the Ijaw nation in general”.

The governor paid tribute to the matriarch of the Abacha family, stressing that her love, support and wise counsel, are some of the driving forces behind the historic decisions of the late military Head of State.

He prayed God to grant her sound health, long life and a happier future with the rest of the Abacha family.

Nigeria really really missed Abacha. Had it been Abacha is alive today, maybe OBJ would not have had the opportunity to mess Nigeria like this.

    Really? Is this news?

Governor Dickson, na God go punish you. See how you dey disgrace Niger Delta people? How can you be praising Abacha for creating Bayelsa state? And you have not deemed it fit to castigate Britain for forcing Bayelsa into Nigeria in 1914. When President Jaja of Opobo refused to allow that useless Queen Victoria to impose tax on our Ijaw peoples in Bayelsa, Bonny, Brass, Patani, Opobo and all over the region in the late 19th century was there Nigeria? Nigeria came into existence in 1914. But my beloved Bayelsa has always been in existence since creation.

To praise Abacha or his wife for ‘creating’ Bayelsa is ridiculous and bitter taste to the ear. Its akin to abomination. Dickson should be guided. The fact that you are a Governor does not mean that you should be talking anyhow.
