The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo on Tuesday said President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to the state would boost the party’s chances at Saturday’s governorship election.

Mr. Buhari is in Benin to attend the party’s grand finale campaign rally at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin ahead of Sept. 10 governorship election in Edo.

The party chairman in the state, Anselm Ojezua, said the president’s visit would boost the party’s chances at the polls.

Mr. Ojezua, who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at the main bowl of the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium, in Benin, said this was in spite of the fact that the party and its candidate, Godwin Obaseki, had prepared well.

“But the president gracing the final rally will no doubt further enhance the chances of the party at the poll,’’ he said.

The chairman said the president “will not be oblivious of the fact that his visit is important being his first major governorship poll to be conducted since assumption of office on May 29, 2015.

“As for us, we have worked hard for the election, but the visit of Mr President today, Tuesday, is going to be an added advantage to us,” he said.

Mr. Buhari arrived the Benin airport at 10: 20AM Tueday. He led other notable party members to visit the crown prince and the Ediaken of Uselu, Eheneden Erediauwa, at his palace at Uselu.

Meanwhile, APC supporters, in their numbers, started arriving at the stadium, the venue of the rally as early as 7.00 a.m.

NAN reports that prominent members of the party already at the stadium are the former Deputy Governor of Edo, Peter Obadan, the state Chairman of the party, Anselm Ojezua, and Great Ogboru from Delta.

Others are the speaker, Edo House of Assembly, Justin Okunobor, former Gov. Oserheimen Osunbor, and governorship aspirant, Chris Ogiewonyi.

On what premise will buhari campaign in Edo state for APC?,to continue with promise and fail, denial of campaign promises, discrimination against some sections of Nigeria because of their tribe, religion and political leaning.
It is going to be the mother of all shame ,disgrace, deciet and disappointments for buhari to go to the people whom he described as 5% after entering aso rock to ask for their votes for his axis of evil party to continue to treat them like slaves in their own country. going to be a double shame for buhari to go to Edo to campaign for votes in favour of a party and a government that have ran Nigeria aground ,bankrupted her and led nigeria into a terrible reccession within 16 months of being voted into power thereby inflicting untold hardship, pain, sorrow and death on Edo people.Oshiomole have been a terrible error of judgment on the part of the good people of Edo,after 8 years in office ,and after receiving trillions of naira from faac, all that oshiomole is bestowing to Edo people is a very huge debt running into hundreds of billions and poorly constructed few roads deceitfully executed to siphon Edo peoples resources.
Edo people shall do themselves a big favour if they vote out those using satanic brooms to sweep away development, peace and prosperity of Edo state while using propaganda and paid media blitz to decieve Edo people. Edo must vote for a pastor whom you can hold accountable and not those who will ask you to go and die after taking power from the voters of Edo state.
