A first-class traditional ruler in Plateau State, the Long-Gomia of Shendam, Hubert Shaidas, is dead.
Reliable sources said Mr. Shaidas, one of the longest serving paramount rulers in Plateau State, died of kidney related disease in an undisclosed hospital in Jos on Sunday.
It was gathered that he had been on dialysis and life support machine for the past one year,
A family source told our reporter that the late monarch, a retired captain in the Nigerian Army, died at the weekend at the age of 81.
According to the source, he had been buried in accordance with Gomai traditional rites on Monday evening at his palace in Shendam, Plateau State.
Palace sources said the paramount ruler’s exit would be officially announced “in due course”.
The late traditional ruler ascended the throne in June 1988.
