The corpses have been deposited in a mortuary.

A 78-year-old man, Sunday Anyahuru, and his 56-year old wife, Elizabeth, were found dead on Monday in their home in Umuohiagu community in Imo.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that their 35-year-old daughter, Emilia, was also found dead in the two-bedroom apartment in Ngor Okpala Local government Area.

A witness, Linus Anyahuru, said that the attention of the villagers was drawn to the incident by one of the daughters of the deceased, Ugboaku Okorafor, around 7 a.m.

Mr. Anyahuru said that on getting to his elder brother’s home, he discovered that the door was locked from the inside and when it was forced open the bodies were found motionless.

Ms. Okorofor said that she became apprehensive when his brother, Chijioke, who resides in Niger, alerted her that neither their parents nor their sister, picked any of his calls on Sunday.

The cause of the deaths and when they occurred are not clear yet, but the family of three were said to have taken their dinner, before they went to bed on Saturday.

The witness said that policemen from Umuneke Police Station, Ngor Okpala, had deposited bodies in mortuary.

Meanwhile, the leader of the police team that visited the scene, Thompson Ohakinam, has advised the people to remain calm while assuring them of proper investigation of the incident.

He called on them to assist the police with valuable information to enable them to unravel the cause of the ugly incident.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Joy Elemoko, said she had not been briefed about the incident.
