Popular cocoa merchant murdered in Ekiti

The Police on Sunday confirmed the killing of a popular cocoa merchant, Rotimi Omolafe, by unknown persons at Ilawe-Ekiti, Ekiti State.

The Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, Victor Babayemi, who confirmed the killing, said men of the command had begun a search for the perpetrators.

According to him, the police received the report at about 9 a.m. on Saturday and detectives were immediately dispatched to the scene.

“Police detectives were dispatched to the scene and the corpse was found lying in a pool of blood with marks of violence all over it.

“The corpse has been taken to the General Hospital, Ilawe, for autopsy.

The scene has also been secured and restricted to members of the public,” the police spokesman said.

He added that two suspects had been arrested and were being interrogated by the police.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the incident threw the community into confusion immediately the broke.
