Taraba appoints three former envoys, ex-minister into tourism board

The Acting Governor of Taraba appoints three new tourism board members.

The Acting Governor of Taraba, Garba Umar, has appointed a former Nigerian Ambassador to Switzerland, Sa’ad Abubakar, as Chairman of the state’s Tourism Development Board.

This is contained in a statement signed by Hassan Mijinyawa, his Chief Press Secretary in Jalingo on Friday. Mr. Umar also named a former Commerce Minister, Idris Waziri, a onetime Ambassador to Pakistan, as a member of the six-member board.

The Acting Governor named former Nigerian Ambassador to Mali, Suleiman Zubairu; and Umaru Baba, a former Minister of State for Defence and also former Minister of State for Petroleum; as members.

The statement also named Iliya Wuwu as a member, while Sam Adda would serve as the board’s Secretary.

The appointment is one of the first Mr. Umar is taking as the reigning Chief Executive of the state since the Governor of the state Danbaba Suntai, got hurt in a plane crash.

The governor is currently in Germany receiving treatment for injuries sustained after the crash.
