Security has been beefed up in Yenagoa, as the Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, visits Bayelsa on Friday in continuation of his fact-finding tour of the Niger Delta region.

Armed soldiers, policemen and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps personnel deployed for duties were visible on the streets and strategic parts of the Yenagoa, the state capital.

Traffic was diverted from the roads leading to Bayelsa Government House, Ovom area, where Mr. Osinbajo is expected to hold an interactive session with the people on the ongoing peace process in the region.

Pedestrians were, however, allowed to pass through the road after screening by security operatives.

The Bayelsa Police Command`s spokesman, Asinim Butswat, told NAN on Friday that the command was adequately prepared to make the visit hitch-free and warned miscreants to keep away from venue of the interactive session.

“Attendance is strictly on invitation.

‘‘The Command therefore advises all law abiding citizens to go about their lawful and legitimate businesses.

“The gathering of people not invited for the programme at any point within the state will not be tolerated, as adequate security measures have been put in place to curtail activities of miscreants,” Mr. Butswat said. (NAN)

Thanks our acting president for at least engaging in something unlike our comatose president who sleeps all daylong in Aso rock

    • David Adeniran

I guess you should be talking in PAST TENSE about the ‘comatose president’?

  • emmanuel Azodoh

why tight security he has been going to that state without security after all he represented the president without tight security please can some one tell me what is happening

    • Peter_Edo

he is now “Acting President” so all protocol used for the President will be accorded to him.

      • RAPE on The Niger DELTA

        Dear AVENGERS,
There is massive poverty in the Niger Delta. There is nothing to show for the wealth of the region as monies from the region are used to develop Abuja and the rest of the country. The only benefit the oil producing and resource owners – Biafra and Niger Delta regions benefit from Nigeria are :
        – Pollution
        – Neglect
        – Violence
        – Military Occupation
        – Wanton arrest of its citizens
        – Harassment
        – Sponsored propaganda to defame
        – Bypass in political appointments
        – Hate, hate and more hate
        – Etc etc, etc

SECESSION is the only way for the Niger Delta and Biafran regions if they must achieve their potentials. Buhari can remain president of the rest of Nigeria and those of us who do not want to be associated with Nigeria in any way should be left alone to live our dreams and fly to our destination – have our own country. And this is what we must do.

May God be with our freedom fighting comrades – the AVENGERS…and we look forward to the prayer sessions of Operation Hurricane Joshua and Jericho Wall which you have proposed

      • Julius

        Indeed, yes !

    • Ajayi Ifayemi

He is now Acting President. A whole new ball game entirely.

  • EVIL, Evil and more Evil

Its a shame that this man is allowed to step his feet in Bayelsa or anywhere in the Niger Delta of the Bight of Biafra. What a shame!!!

—He should be pelted with dead fish, prawns, crabs etc that have been washed ashore our numerous and once beautiful rivers, streams and other water bodies.

—He should be bathed with the pungent black water that flow in our rivers
—When he asks for water to drink, he should be given the water mixed with Kerosene wax from the wells of Brass

Crooked and mischievous Osinbajo – a hand picked agent of destruction. Tell me, 2 years on, the pollution in Niger Delta remains the same. Poverty has increased. The Maritime University project has been killed. BUT elsewhere Airports, Roads, Rails and even Cinema theaters are being provided for the rest of the North and some parts of the West. As usual nothing in the Niger Delta. Nothing in the Igbo East.

All you get is this endless visits to individual states in the Niger Delta by Osinbajo to bribe some few elders hoping to deceive the people once more. Last month it was Delta State. Today it is Bayelsa. Next he will go to Rivers. Don’t worry, we are watching!

    • Julius

lolz, you still lumping SS with biafraud. Keep it up, they have surprises waiting for you !

  • Tokkobo

    AVENGERS, where art thou?

    • Julius

Even a mad dog know his/her owner !

  • El Patron

Not a smart move by the Presidency. They should have waited till Buhari comes back. If anything happens to Osinbajo, Saraki becomes President

  • Toba Aribilola

El Patron, I know that Osinbajo will be a better president than Buhari that is why Nigerdeltans will not do anything that will harm my VP and acting president
