Yele Omogunwa, the PDP Senator representing Ondo South Senatorial District, on Thursday confirmed his defection to All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mr. Omogunwa confirmed his defection in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Akure.

The lawmaker, a former Commissioner for Works in Ondo State, said he had formally joined APC in his home town, Ode-Irele in Irele Local Government Area of the state.

“It is very correct that I have decamped to APC and it was done in my country home, Ode-Irele.

“I am no more in PDP, but now a bonafide member of APC. My reasons for joining APC are personal,’’ he said.

NAN reports that with the defection of Mr. Omogunwa ,all the three Senators representing Ondo State at the upper chamber of National Assembly, are now members of APC.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed November 26 for the Ondo State Governorship Election. (NAN)

Yele Omogunwa, the PDP Senator representing Ondo South Senatorial District, on Thursday confirmed his defection to All Progressives Congress (APC).

Then you should effing resign your seat in the senate as PDP Senator!

  • thusspokez

NAN reports that with the defection of Mr. Omogunwa ,all the three Senators representing Ondo State at the upper chamber of National Assembly, are now members of APC.

This is a fraudulent act. Mr. Omogunwa is perpetrating a fraud; he is therefore a fraud!

    • Pat

If that is a fraud, what will you call those that paddled the budget and diverted public money into private and personal accounts?

      • thusspokez

Can you try very hard to pay attention to the topic of discussion here You are like a pupil in a maths classroom but wanting to discus history!

  • asuevie

a wrong timing you have lost out. APC continue to diminish every day

    • Iskacountryman

but an efcc visit is immediate…

  • tsunami1earthquake

There is an urgent call for a law to strip any defector of his political post and declare that post vacant that would call for a fresh election. This is reasonable advice because voters voted on the strength that this defector belonged to a particular party. So the defector cross-carpeting should be on his own and must not represent that community anymore.

It’s gonna be too much on us, tax payers. Conducting fresh election is not easy cost-wise and it usually takes some lives

      • VERITAS_ the rock of ages_

True. Tho to avoid unnecessary public spending for election re-runs in other parts of the world, when you defect and they strip you, they immediately give your the position to the runner up in the party primaries you won from.

        • thusspokez

          Good thinking.

        • musa aliyu

Better. But we have to force them adopt that in the house otherwise they won’t.

          • VERITAS_ the rock of ages_

Because of the incidence that happened in Kogi they want to pass such a law but they havent realised it would backfire on their defection scams. All it takes is one person to win a case in the court of law then it would become the Norm.

    • Benny25

I absolutely agree with you my bro.

    • Pat

That’s funny! Anyone can decide to join any political party he/she desire at anytime. In advanced countries, people can even change their party affiliation at polling center. That shouldn’t be a big deal. A big deal should be ensuring our representatives in government stop diverting our money into private and personal accounts if we really want to make progress.

      • thusspokez

What has your response got to do with @tsunami1earthquake’s comment?

    • S. A. Maigari

That was the case in the 1st and 2nd Republics. That was why Gov. Rimi of Kano had to resign because he defected from PRP and joined NPP. This rascality set in during Obj’s second coming.

  • Charles

the senator might have gotten information that efcc is about to come after him.
