The 18th Sultan of Sokoto, Ibrahim Dasuki, is dead.

Mr. Dasuki died in a private hospital in Abuja on Monday night, family sources told PREMIUM TIMES.

The deceased is the father to former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, who is currently facing corruption charges.

The ex-Sultan died at the age of 93. He was deposed as Sultan by the former military dictator, Sani Abacha, in 1996.

Prior to becoming Sultan, he held the traditional title of Baraden Sokoto. Mr. Dasuki was the first Sultan from the Buhari line of the house of Uthman Dan Fodio.

Mr. Dasuki was a close associate of Ahmadu Bello, the late Sardauna of Sokoto, and was also a friend to late Islamic scholar, Abubakar Gumi.

Mr. Dasuki was also influential in the founding of Jama’atu Nasril Islam,JNI.

He is expected to be buried according to Islamic rites on Tuesday.

May Allah forgive him, & grant him jannatul firdaus

Will this heartless vindictive Buhari allow Sambo Dasuki go bury his father…?

    • Eluba Inas

Just like the way IBB and Sambo allowed him to go bury his mother ….?

      • Ifeanyianadu

Sambo Dasuki was ADC to IBB and was not in a position to influence a lot of things

        • Eluba Inas

Yeah. We hear chickens do talk we just don’t understand what they are saying.

    • tundemash

Mor0n, how many criminals in detention are allowed that luxury ?

      • Ifeanyianadu

Buhari should take Dasuki to court and see the charges go up in smoke.

  • DON

Don’t forget that Buhari was inner member of the Abacha government.

Some people’s hatred for Buhari won’t even allow them to think straight and deal with the facts instead of fictions and innuendos. Must you guys just politicize everything under the sun? May the soul of the departed find rest with his maker!

The late Alhaji Ibrahim Dasuki may appear to be closed to the late Sheikh Abubakar Mahmud Gumi from the surface only. But what was actually underneath was more than meet the eyes. On the claim that that the late Dasuki Senior was close associate of the first and the last Premier of the defunct Northern Region, Sir Ahmadu Bello was accurate. However, trios in the names of Sir Ahmadu Bello, Sheikh Abubakar Mahmud Gumi have three things in common…..all from former Sokoto province, all were educated in the western school, all were instrumental to the establishment of Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI). However, they were analogously related to the faces of triangle, even though joined at points but each was facing his own way. While the Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Sardauna of Sakkwato represented the magnanimous face of the Caliphate in its face of Islamic renaissance, the late Sheikh Abubakar Gumi stood for the justice in the judiciary and scholarly pursuits for the puritanical mission of Islam and late Alhaji Ibrahim Dasuki was known for his prowess in money making culture!

Why all these stories? The three have returned to their creator and that should be sufficient for those who believe that one day, they will also return.

Sambo wanted a Foolani as President, so he conspired with his tribesmen to betray Jonathan. Unfortunately for him, he forgot that his people are mean. The fallout is what he is getting today.
He has had Act one scene one – arrest, secne two perpetual incaceration, death of parent. Acto two would be remaining in denetntion for twice the number of month Buhari stayed detained and he would go home. Na dis one be ‘Do me; i do you God nor dey vex’
