Fayose to build new governor’s office, high court at N1.9 billion

The Ekiti State Government said on Thursday that it had set aside N1.9 billion for the construction of a new governors’ office and high court complex in Ado-Ekiti.

The Commissioner for Works and Transportation, Funmi Ogun, made this known during an open bidding for the two projects in Ado-Ekiti.

Mrs. Ogun said the projects were conceived as part of plans to give the state a facelift in terms of infrastructure development.

She said when completed, both projects would add to the existing “legacy projects” of the present administration in the state.

According to her, the consultants’ proposed bill for the construction of the new governor’s office is N687, 028, 630.63 million while that of the High Court Complex is N1, 299, 613, 897.60.

NAN reports that the contractors that bid for the new governor’s office project at the session included Vyouad Construction Company Limited, Tianjin Yuyang Construction Company and Goodek Ventures Limited.

For the construction of the proposed court complex, Grid Associates Limited and Fovak Construction Limited jostled for the job.

The commissioner said the open tender confirmed the transparency of Fayose’s government and its commitment to prudent management of the state’s lean resources.

“What we are doing today confirms the transparency of our government.

“It shows that Gov. Fayose is incurably committed to giving Ekiti a facelift and make Ado Ekiti capital city a real modern city.

“Ekiti will clock 20 years on Oct.1, 2016 and we have to embark on projects that will make Ekiti a developing state that can compete with other capital cities in terms of infrastructure.

“The High Court we are presently using was inherited from the old Ondo state and constructing a new one of our own will afford us the opportunity to put state-of-the-art equipment,” she said. (NAN)

Can people get out of their ignorance and stupidity to resist this nonsense? With impending loss of his previous loots at the bank, he is just trying to create a medium to loot another one.

Fayose, in this austere times, what Ekiti need most is stomach lift and not facelift. what will a hungry man do with facelift. This project just like the airport to nowhere is a conduit to syphon money from the citizens. This money should be used to pay salaries.

  • Arabakpura

I trust Fayose to build castles in the air!

  • wally

So governor’s office is the priority of Ekiti state now!! I cry for Ekiti people. Fayose is on the mission to recoup all the money frozen in his account by the EFCC within a short period of time. Just two bogus contracts will settle him.

  • amazing2012

Ekitians have voted “one chance” !

  • Realitytalk

The guy is just eating thier money in ekiti

  • Nkem

Fayose is desperate. He is bent on recovering all the money he has lost to the recent efcc court actions. I thought the same Fayose was complaining that Fayemi spent so much money building a state of the art government house. So why is he building another one?
The guy Fayose will not just learn. This is how he embarked on a poultry project that brought him down the other time. EFCC should keep close watch on this project including all the disbursements to the so-called contractor and where the money goes from there.
