PDP’s call for Buhari’s resignation ‘painful’ — Lai Mohammed

Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed
Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, says the call for resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the economy is “preposterous”.

The minister said this on Friday in Abuja at a forum with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Mr. Mohammed said “it is very painful in a situation where the armed robber is now the one sympathising with the victim.

“I read in the dailies that the PDP said that the president must resign because of the economy.

“While we are not going to indulge in blame game, I think we should also be honest enough to admit that we will not have been where we are today if they had done what they ought to do.

“For the party to ask the president to resign is just a big joke.”

The minister said though the government was not interested in blame game, it was important to set the records straight.

He said that “agree that Nigeria is not the only country hit by the recession and crash in price of crude, but other countries made savings.

“Saudi Arabia today has about 600 billion dollars in reserve and this is by planning and saving for the future which the past administration failed to do during surplus.

“This is not about blaming other administration, but we believe that one should be honest when criticising.”

Mr. Mohammed assured that the Federal Government would do everything possible to bring the country out of the economic situation.

The PDP new Media Director, Deji Adeyanju, had in a statement in Abuja, asked the president to resign “for destroying” the economy.

Mr. Adeyanju was reacting to the data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) issued on Wednesday which stated that Nigeria was in recession. (NAN)

That is just the simple truth, all these crocodile screams from PDP apologists is an attempt to lob everybody together,Jonathan liquidated Nigeria with extreme greed, even warnings from his coordinating minister for economy as far back 2014 when they had started borrowing to finance subsidies and pay salaries have now been ignored by people who today describe Jonathan as an outstandingly successful president, yet no sector can be identified as having grown under that administration, even president Jonathan himself cannot call himself a successful president but his disciples, who are no longer able to differentiate between right and wrong believe he is their Jesus Christ,it is a shame really

    • Otile

Man, grow up. Your Jonathan basing has become a cliche, stale and boring. Move on dude. Jonathan is no longer the president. People are starving to death under your hero, incompetent Buhari. Wake up and stop dwelling in the past.

      • Rommel

Just like the profligacy of Yakubu Gowon and the oil boom of the 70’s was not forgotten until recently,Jonathan will continue to be mentioned as example of bad leadership until God forbid a worse president emerges

        • Otile

Only backward looking retards dwell in the past forever. Don’t drag everybody backward with you. Forward ever backward never. Ogbeni, egbo?

          • Titus

Otile, pls dont waste your energy on Rommel. He is a political party slave. There is nothing you will say that will appeal to him even when he sees that Nigerians minus him are dieing of hunger, due to incompetence of this govt leadership. Getting to 2 years in govt which is enough to generate their revenue & fix the economy instead they plan for excuses and bulk passing to cover up incompetency & cluelessness.

    • emmanuel

Not surprised, because El-Rufai still pay your stipends for remaining online on his behalf. You seem not to understand that recession is not senmatics but a killer of businesses and people. What did you say when Jonathan wanted to end subsidy?
All those many sins of APC and the vampires have hunted them into abysmal failure. The rest of the World has agreed that Buhari is a failed man except you and Liar Mohammed.

      • Rommel

Did people not resist when president Buhari wanted to remove subsidy, did he not still remove it? that is what leadership is,no child likes to take injections but every father knows that injections are necessary for the health of the child,Jonathan was a weakling that should not be a local government chairman

  • Karl Imom

We who bear the burden of pain as a result of mismanagement of our commonwealth should be asking for execution of Mr. Jonathan and all his cabinet members and all PDP officials who participated in looting public treasury in the 16 years of PDP administrations

    • Otile

When Rotimi Oyenusi was a PDP governor during the paste administration he looted Rivers state treasury dry to prop up Imam Olodo. Do we start by executing Rotimi? How about Imam Tambuwal, he was a PDP chieftain and also looted and used the money to help APC, should we amputate him? How much did Alhaji Fashola look in Eko, does he deserve a firering squad? Physician heal thyself.

      • Titus

        El Rufai too

  • emmanuel

Ugly baboon, Saudi saved? Your APC used Oshomole, Amaechi, Fashola to take the then FG to Court that all monies must be sepnt. Do you think that we are as fo**ish and liarly like you?
We cannot forget those incidence in a hurry.
Meanwhile your Finance Minister said recession is a mere senmatics in the twenty first century? That should get foreign investors run away from here
My friend, go hide yourself in shame, because the one who ought to manage the economy cannot add 16+6 and does not also know what recession is. How much more your oga who failed could not face WASC and had to run away to join the Army.

    • Ade Omowest

You and Otile should save your gun powders for the next campaign in 2018/19, hopefully you can convince PDP or whatever the name by then to pressurize Jonathan to step forward and repeat his “wonderful performance” of between 2009-2015 before he was shoved aside by the right thinking Nigerians.

      • Otile

Everything is not about campaign in 2018/19, people must survive now to face that campaign when it comes. The matter of the moment is – what is Imam Olodo doing to stave off hunger in the land right now?

        • Ade Omowest

Direct that question to Aunt Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala who advised Jonathan as at 2013-2014 to save for the raining days. Unfortunately, the Squander-mania GEJ was busy distributing Dollars (and other hard currencies) to the party goons ‘yanfutanfu’ all over the Nation like a mad dog. The woman (NOI) will rightly tell you that the destroyed economic foundation of a country cannot be completely rebuilt in two years, even without the present downturn in our only resource OIL.

  • Titus

PDP did not do what they ought to do, now that you are there what is stopping you from doing what PDP failed to do.?

  • emmanuel

The PDP’s advice for Buhari to resign is an offered solution to Nigeria from the current quagmire. I heard a member of Political platform of AIT in the morning saying the PDP should come up with solution and not critic. What then is more solution than asking a no direction President to resign and let someone else lead?
The countries of Europe already recovering had to force their failed Presidents and Prime Ministers to resign severally.
Buhari should just go and attend to his Cows

    • stackCrawler

      Buhari all the way

      • dele20

        PMB is working great

  • Titus

In 1999, PDP took over govt from military who ruled for several years, looted treasury, and destroyed all sectors of the economy, yet PDP govt. did not complain neither did they engage in bulk passing and blame game. They faced governance squarely and successfully till 2015. APC govt who took over when economy has been fixed to some extend for them to contribute their own but engaged in excuses & blame game as if they have never heard of corruption before if some of them did not steal.

  • Titus

APC should stop this tricks of blaming past govt. Nigerians are dyeing of hunger. That past govt also took over from govt too. yet there was no blame. Nigeria has history of corruption it did not start today so fix economy for people to survive. APC govt is confused, they dont know what to do save the country from collapsing.

    • DObservation

No one has blamed anybody here. The simple truth is we would navigate this present crisis better if the GEJ admin saved during the oil boom. This is a verifiable fact. That it is uncomfortable to the ears of some does not mean it should not be said. Sir.

      • stackCrawler

        Gej has gone for good

    • stackCrawler

Apc is not playing any blaming tricks. They are more than that

      • dele20

        Tell him, let him realize

    • dele20

Blaming GEJ /PDP is not a trick but a reality

  • Titus

Stop blaming PDP & GEJ for your incompetency & cluelessness in running govt. The only true APC members are Tinubu, Akande, Buhari, Prof Yemi. All others are PDP members. if PDP is that bad why are they dominating your party and govt.? they are the people who helped stole money according to you. Even the corrupt people are also there in this govt. what is the govt doing so pls stop these excuses and fix economy that is what people want

  • yusuf Mikail

Oga, No vex. Truth is bitter and painful.

  • DObservation

It is sad that PDP who must be seen as the chief orchestrators of this economic lull, either by the lack of will to save during the oil boom or by the deliberate dollarisation of our economy in an attempt to buy lost votes for a lost President, are now posing as the defenders of the economy. The silence of the APC government over their failure should not be taken for foolishness. Throwing blame does not help so this govt has simply gotten to work to do what it can to salvage the situation. But let those who put us in the situation kindly keep quiet. Note to PDP

Only shameless children of Judas Iscariot race, the bewitched free education products, the landmark Judas kiss specialists, those liars who believed that their progenitor odu fell down from the sky,the chameleons etc are capable of believing this shameless assertion of a chronic old liar.if not that the Judas race are suffering from awolowo afflicted amnesia ,they would have asked liar mohamed about the billions of dollars he ,buhari and AGF said they recovered .a government that went to America and returned with a highly crafted lies that they have recovered $150b from awolowo and even the AGF at a time lied that efcc have recovered $2 trillion from his shadows. Now that Nigerians are demanding that the recovered billions of dollars be put to use instead of borrowing billions of dollars ,liar Mohammed have come up with another k leg story of 78b naira recovery.
Shame to this integrity deficient government.APC is a congregation of liars, deceitful hypocrites,,chameleons, shameless bigots and irredeemable irresponsibles ,thinking that their lies and falsehoods have eroded the memories of citizens of Nigeria. Shame on them for bankrupting Nigeria so soon.No responsible citizen will ever believe this integrity deficient government again.
Some body should warn these liars that if they continue to pin Nigeria to the ground, very soon ,Nigerians shall have no other options than to struggle against them, for Nigerians to survive .this is the worst chapter of leadership to ever happen to Nigeria. May God save our nation through the remainig 2 years and 7 months of this calamitous ineptitude.

I am sure that by now ,yorubas should be cursing awolowo in his grave for bewitching them with a backstabbing treacherous spirit that made them to vote for a calamity as President of Nigeria.
Government of almajiri somersaults, inconsistent, incompetent, blind leadership.
It is becoming increasingly very clear even to the blind and the most ardent saibaberians that buhari have no single idea about governance, buhari emergence have disjointed Nigeria in every material aspect. To me all the talks about buharis effective management and blocking of loopholes are hogwash and highly crafted lies aimed at distracting Nigerians from marking buhari bumper to bumper, while the government engages in the worst form of corrupt businesses as usual.
Lies ,falsehoods and propaganda can’t endure for a long time, only truth is consistently constant and permanent. The highly crafted lies, propaganda and media blitz holding this bankrupt government are giving ways with the speed of light. The results from all sectors of Nigeria after a whole year of buharis so called effective management and anti corruption , points to a heavy decline in all hitherto positive indexes , a downwards spiraling of our economic indexes, and the growth of the most formidable corruption ever seen in Nigeria.
Not minding the highly crafted lies and propaganda, buhari have shown himself to be naive, incompetent, ignorant, myopic, uninformed, weak, tired, demented, lacking in doing justice and completely overwhelmed in matters of leadership .To make matters worst, buhari out of malice, hate bigotry, nepotism ,have surrounded himself with the worst assemblage of almajiri imbeciles, mental dwarfs and hollow minded free education products and silent crooks to run the affairs of Nigeria. The best thing for buhari to do now after bankrupting Nigeria, is for him to respect himself and his old age and resign with a national apology .if buhari has any atom of integrity left in him,he must tender his resignation letter forthwith with a deserving apology and not allow Nigeria any further pain, sorrow, anguish and death arising from his bankrupt ,calamitous ineptitude government.
May God punish all those who conspired to impose this suffering on Nigeria under the guise and propaganda of ‘change’.May God never allow this kind of leadership disaster to ever come to Nigeria again.
