U.S. Secretary of State, John Kerry, arrives Nigeria’s presidential villa

Mr. Kerry’s motorcade arrived the villa at about 3pm and was received by Mr. Buhari’s State Chief of Protocol, Lawal Kazaure.

The United States Secretary of State, John Kerry, has arrived the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja, for a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, and top government officials.

Mr. Kerry’s motorcade arrived the villa at about 3pm and was received by Mr. Buhari’s State Chief of Protocol, Lawal Kazaure.

Reporters were earlier told that Mr. Kerry would not be talking to the media after his meeting with the president.

However, the Secretary of State is expected to hold a meeting with five governors from the northern part of Nigeria after the meeting with the President.

The governors, who are already at the Villa ahead of the arrival of Mr. Kerry, include Mohammed Abubakar of Bauchi, Mohammed Jibrilla of Adamawa, Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara and Kashim Shettima of Borno state.

Also at the Villa are the National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno; the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyema; his Finance counterpart, Kemi Adeosun, and the Presidential aide on the Diaspora, Abike Dabiri-Erewa.
