Tinubu appeals to Nigerians to be patient with Buhari’s government

A leader of the governing All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu, on Saturday assured Nigerians that the change agenda of President Muhammadu Buhari is still on course.

According to Mr. Tinubu, the change process requires time especially coming after “ the conscience of our nation has been under attack for many years.

“We were handed a way of governance in which anything goes and too much went – as if gone with the wind. Our present was squandered and future mortgaged”.

Mr. Tinubu while pleading for support and patience with the APC administration said “Nigeria has the greatest opportunity to get it right with a leader like Mr. Muhammad Buhari.”

“There is much to fix. President Buhari is committed to fixing them. But he needs your support and patience. He cannot do it all alone. We must stand beside him or else we may be knocked down and not stand at all.

“Thus, let us be resolved to see reform and change that will make Nigeria rise as the nation it should be,” Mr. Tinubu said while speaking at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University convocation in Sokoto on Saturday.

The former Lagos State governor also took on the those he described as “nay Sayers and negative spinners” who argue that no change was taking place.

“It’s easy for those who are greedy to think that change is easy. Change is not about comfort of today, but the success of tomorrow. Nigeria was in the rollercoaster of losing hope. Then our party brought cure. Don’t let anyone deceive you, the cure is here”.

Mr. Tinubu spoke was honoured with the Honorary Doctor of Business Administration at the 40th Convocation ceremony of the Usmanu Dan Fodiyo University.

Mr. Tinubu soon after eulogizing the man after whom the institution was named and also recognizing the leadership of the Sultan and the Sokoto governor focused on the issues dominating the national discourse.

“I am honoured to be at the historic seat of the Caliphate a place where history, culture, religion and tradition merge to form the architecture of one of the world ‘s most impressive and venerable civilizations. The man after whom the institution is named was a foremost Islamic scholar. An extraordinary leader who understood the deep yearnings and needs of the people. He provided visionary yet practical leadership and taught us all that we must be ready to personally sacrifice to advance and secure those things in which we truly believe”.

And as if comparing some of the principles Dan Fodiyo lived by with that of President Buhari, Mr. Tinubu said “Nigeria has begun the process of turning to its better self. The government of President Buhari is cleaning out the rot of years of galloping corruption and avarice. This government is also moving to pursue policies that will spark development and bring prosperity to long oppressed Nigerians. Be reminded that this will be a battle. No battle is easy. We must be firm in our resolve to reform this nation. We must have the courage to stand fast in the times of difficulty, having faith that the rightfulness of our cause will see us through to the success of our collective efforts and yearnings”.

Face saving appeal by a bleeding man. Secretly nursing his wounds he comes out to do boldface. Sorry your patronizing strategy will not work either..

    • Emmy

Lol. Even if he has been nursing any wound in secret, it’s his wound and he’s entitled to nurse it. He has come out “boldfacely” to tell us what he wants from us. Why don’t you leave his wound alone and tag along with his patronage? Election is over, stop agonizing.

  • Lanre

I have heard this crap before. Nothing new. Shagari said it. Babangida said it. Buhari, Obasanjo, Abacha. The same nonsense about the future being better, Nigerians have to sacrifice. Still, the political class is made of the wealthiest Nigerians. Chief Tinubu, so far, you have taken close to four Honorary Doctorate Degrees. Does that not say something about the depth of corruption and subservience in Nigeria? Your positive actions in Lagos is the reason I have not written you off yet. As part of the class of opportunists in Nigeria. You appear to have assembled a crop of professionals who would initiate policy to address acute developmental issues. Hence, the goodwill you still possess with some of us. Meanwhile, Asiwaju Tinubu, your protege, the demagogue in Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola has announced he cannot pay workers. Why can’t you work with him and the other APC governors to ensure they deliver on their promises? You appear to be ending up like M.K.O. who (in a bid to be liked by everyone) took awards and chieftaincy titles from all and sundry. Including his enemies. Best wishes.

We have been patient. Nigeria’s problem is a problem of over 55 years. So no one expects Buhari to perform any magic. However, his steps and administrative style as well as emphasis tell us whether we are on the right track. For now, I doubt whether anything is happening in govt apart from arrest of opponents. A case where our economy is in bad shape and the president makes the VP, a lawyer rather than an economist, head of his economic team is bizarre. We expect vibrant policies and programs that can give direction to where the country is going. These are lacking in this govt. so am afraid whether our patience can make any difference.

  • Comfortkay

Nigerian are in the same boat, when Nelson Mandela came to power the people thinks he will change things overnight. Rome was not build in a day things have been very bad here and this is the first time thieves in plain cloths are been arrested and charged to court , this is the first time rougues who took our money are returning the money that belongs to Nigerian, we can never have a leader again in Nigeria like Buhari and those who cannot have patient should relocate to another country.

    • 9ja is finished under buhari

are u trying to compare Mandela to thieves like Buhari-Monkey

  • tunde

“Hate to wait”,”Plant Today,Harvest Tomorrow” etc … should know that “CHANGE” doesn’t happen overnight.

    • 9ja deserves better dan Buhari

Wonders shall never end–imagine a thief like tinubu trying to reach out to Nigerians for Buhari—-ati the confused thieving Apes in APC———-He thinks it was Nigerians who put Buhari into aso rock—Old Boy the rigging machine of the CIA did it for Buhari and the Fulanis from Niger Republic in Nigeria–Next time Nigerians will pray for a Fulani president again——animals

  • 9ja needs a new leader

Buhari unforgiven vindictive lying spirit cannot change Nigeria for the better even if he is given 100 years-He stole the mandate of Jonathan via election rigging–so must pay for his sins—-The man is der4 a curse to the Nation until he confesses his sins. That is why he is busy stealing budgets at night instead of producing ideas on how to move the Nation forward. When he “took over” by coup in 1983, even remembered an article written a very very long time ago by Bisi Onabanjo (‘The Mallams are coming’) and a later one in which Onabanjo wrote that people should watch out for that “gangly officer from the north” after Buhari gave a no holds barred speech at some Army function where he was reported to be very openly pro Fulani and pro Islam to the exclusive of all else and also talked about termination of democratic rule. For that, Onabanjo got one of the harshest jail terms and treatments.

Buhari is evil and his intolerance is worse than Obasanjo’s. When he was adopted as the ANPP’s candidate on the night of the party’s Primaries without prior warning to the other candidates and a few of them protested, Buhari got up and made a speech that those people must be disciplined. I subsequently saw him on BBC’s “hard talk” and he frightened me and the interviewer with his archaic evil fundamentalist Jihadist intolerant views. His understanding and articulation is very much in doubt as we have to to come know him for. A monster turned into a a Boko haram commander by the CIA-that installed him as presido–

The untold story of Bola Ahmed Tinubu

    Bola Ahmed Tinubu never
got one thing right in public life for 16 whole years – not one thing. He
ruined schools, broke communal trust in honesty, fostered thefts to enrich
his own family, articulated no single idea for political or economic growth,
pitch-forked thieves and rogues like Raji Fashola into public offices above
their competence; and violated all rules of accountability in public office.

A psychiatric problem becomes obvious in Lagos where a certain crowd of
journeymen politicians remain in hock and in praise of Bola Tinubu who’s
virtually destroyed the Lagos society; partly out of ignorance for lack of
schooling; and, partly out of a spirit of stealing inherent at his creation.
    Bola Ahmed Tinubu illustrates a mental problem with black Nigerians;
that where stealing is institutionalized and spread round enough to
    the self-described Nigerian radicals.

a leader who will cleanse the society. The person will have the heart of a lion, like Jehu in the Bible.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu is an existential threat to Nigeria in
moral terms. He exemplifies the mess that’s put Nigeria into almost
irrecoverable distress. With Bola Tinubu ambling all over the place Nigeria has
no chance of becoming a honest or rational country. He’s seen as corruption
personified. He’s not achieved a single thing in all of his 16 years in public

The Problem with Nigeria is the idiocy of the people. Without that idiocy, treasury thefts could not have gone on for so many years un-interrupted in more or less an orderly fashion, as thieves paste posters for the victims to choose their preferred thief. What’s worse is that those who stole billions of Naira and lowered the country into a wretched place without electricity or water, are those who mount the pulpit to preach forbearance to those robbed. The victims of massive thefts of the national wealth then listen with rapt attention to take moral lessons only from career criminals. That’s the problem with Nigeria; a country in a time-warp of idiocy and now unable to protect itself or save itself by organizing liberation movements to free the country from these un-repentant kleptomaniacs.

    To Tinubu:

Change is NOT a scalar quantity, rather it’s a vector quantity, it has magnitude and direction. Therefore, it’s silly to argue in front of Nigerians that Buhari is doing wonderfully. Nigerians know what’s going on now. The direction is very wrong, so shut up your dirty mouth.

Whether CHANGE is scalar or vectoral in physics terms may not be decisive if there’s no CHANGE to describe in either terms existing in Nigeria today. That to me is the main problem now. There is no CHANGE. Bola Tinubu is wholesale decadence. As moral chaos he can’t ever be associated with CHANGE. What Buhari is doing is unclear and un-seen. He too looks like another confused feudalist who just wants to run an imperial presidency. He has no ideas, no plans, no vision and no direction. Given that Muhamadu Buhari is totally blank, can any reasonable
person expect CHANGE from nothing? That’s why I beg you to put physics to one side on your debate over
whether CHANGE; as a term in physics, is scalar or vectoral since CHANGE does not exist under BUHARI
to warrant your intelligent debate. You hear me so?

      • Son of Einstein

CHANGE IS BOTH VECTORIAL AND SCALAR BECAUSE IT MUST STRADDLE BOTH FEATURES.

      • AFRICANER

Oh there’s change alright, it’s just not in the right direction. The rich, and insiders are doing good, including certain ethnic military people. The masses ain’t so lucky. Democracy is stunted!

So true. Case in point, the CBN hiring !

  • Omotolaaraujo

People are as patient as their stomachs will allow. Buhari has failed to speak out about the Fulani killings and the CBN hiring fiasco. People expect him to tell them what actions will take place. Staying out of prosecutions and ignoring important subjects are two different things. The President must reassure Nigerians that they will not have to be subjected to either of these types of criminal behaviors further.

  • Isi Agwo

    To Thiefnubu:
“Be patient with Bokohari?” Why ask us to be “patient?” President Mumuhadu Bokohari is doing perfectly well in his job of punishing Nigeria with poverty and suffering. Ask Liar Mohammed, Bokohari is doing everything he promised to do. The Daura illiterate is the second worst thing to happen to Nigeria since the British glued us together in 1914.

    • Clemento

I don’t think Bola Tinubu is a thief. He has never stolen one kobo in his whole life. Look at it this way.

He worked only in Mobil Oil in his life. But at the time he was working there the head of the owner of Mobil

was not correct. He was paying Bola Tinubu 500 million Naira salary a month. You see it? So, Bola Tinubu

was saving all that money somewhere. It was that money that made him a TRILLIONAIRE. You see it now?

It was when Bola Tinubu left or was forced to leave Mobil Oil that the head of the owner of Mobil Oil became

correct. That is why Mobil Oil workers today are not rich again. You get it? Bola Tinubu can’t be a real thief.

Bola Tinubu as Wole Soyinka’s bane

      Bola Ahmed Tinubu is neither wise; discerning nor bright;
since wise men won’t go a-plundering with the future risk of going a-sorrowing.
Those Bola Tinubu appears to have captured in body and soul had just surrendered
to evil in return for the frills and freebies of life. Wole Soyinka is one such captured thing.
He’s been misled since 1999 to fetter his better discretion into a compromise with evil.

Soyinka said once that he regards Bola Tinubu as a “collaborator” in NADECO –
in their overseas campaign against Sani Abacha. For that reason Wole Soyinka
abandons his critical faculties to grant immunity to Bola Ahmed Tinubu for serial rape
of the Lagos treasury and for mindless acquisitions in excess of anything anyone who’s
governed Lagos state ever owned as an ex-employee on a monthly salary.

Wole Soyinka has shut up for 16 years on Bola Tinubu and is presumably,
collaborative – for consistency in his own mind – but as an utter abettor and
crass betrayer of principles in objective view. Wole Soyinka would want plaudits
for saying he can’t associate with, say, Arthu Nzeribe for stealing and such-like,
and after gutturally uttering that as principle in public, he’ll drive to Port-Harcourt
for 85 million Naira dinner with Rotimi Amaechi, on top of the overflowing feast and
banquet he might have had at noon on Bourdillon Road in Lagos where, as likely as
not, something illicit or at least something not bought or earned as salary by Bola
Tinubu, might have been put in his car’s booth to sort of smooth his dalliance.
Where then is the radicals’ principle in Nigeria on that grimy portraiture?

Guys, no need to expose Wole Soyinka like this now, haba! Look, I am not
saying he should be exempt; no, he’s part and parcel of the mess in Nigeria.
His unforced errors even shame educated people. But truth is he can’t help

to finance that sort of reckless lifestyle. He can’t help attaching himself to the

What happens? His hare-brained supporters abandon their university education and start clapping in surrender to undisguised dictatorship. They are still hoarding the products even after they have won. In the history of this country, we have never bought petrol at N200 per litre. Today, we are doing so and yet both of them control the oil industry. Are they true Nigerians or simply selfish individuals parading themselves as leaders? They are chieftains of APC. If the Buhari government is sincere about fighting corruption, it should probe FUEL SUBSIDY. Do you know what probing the fuel subsidy would entail? It will entail exposing the hypocrisy of TINUBU and ODETOLA. They are the biggest benefactors of the the Subsidy regime. Probing the FUEL SUBSIDY will also expose the hypocrisy and lopsidedness of the Buhari regime. I dare the government to probe the fuel subsidy. The truth must be said. Whats happening in this country favors ‘Exporters’. Be it small scale or large scale ‘exporters’.

you people shud fear God oh… with the things going on in this nation, wen will things get beta? when goodluck was on seat, who had patience with him? his children schooled in this country, that s to show how committed him was to promoting the country-made. the dollar issues, recent cbn recruitment is an eyesore and this will go a long way to tell us more of what will happen while we r bin patient. i pity us

  • pab

Mr Tinubu if Nigeria we wanted slow and steady then Jona would hv stil b d President…..U guys came in with deceit preaching during election campaign that u guys want to change Nigeria over night…Mr Tinubu o, where is the change? we need the change , all the promises made by basket mouth Tinubu where are they??

  • joe

hmmm mr tinubu telling us that the cure is here when we are not seeing anything, how long do there want us to be patient again, Nigerians are suffering all they could say is patient patient patient na wow oooh , this APC govt are just enriching themselves and nothing more

  • mike

They preached “change”, promised heaven and earth and in one year they haven’t even come close to achieving anything. Nigerians are suffering and dying, the rule of law has been abandoned but I guess that’s the only way they know how to lead

  • sambo ibrahim

It’s more than a year since the inception of President buhari and the economy is still moving about same spot. Unemployment has drastically increased there leading to increased insecurity in the country. The major projects that defines a stable economy are not functioning, talking about light, water, good roads, electoral mal-practices and poor budget planning , and all Tinubu has to tell us is “patience”. Instead of synergy with the past administration to bring about further development in the economy all they keep telling us is that Jonathan brought the woes. Buhari should bring change not chains

    • winny

Point of correction, the economy is moving backwards not “about the same spot”

  • REMI

back to wen GEJ was there nobody want to hear patient and the APC are once that are always blaming him but now that they are there they say we should be patient that the cure is here, its almost a year now and nothing has been done, right now Nigeria is at a stand still yet they say patient ….. WHY MUST ASK NIGERIANS TO BE PATIENT ALL THE TIME??????????????

  • pab

when jonah was there they said he wanst sharp and fast enough, now apc gvent is getting to a year now yet noting has improved instead they are winch hunting the opposition party claiming they are fighting corruption….mthwwwww

  • Opia

Its almost an yr tho,we’ve been patient enuff sir, pple are suffering, pple are dieing,y’all need do sumthing real quick

  • divinity

Dear Jagaban even as i recognize that dis comment might portray me as a naysayer, or a negative spinner, i still will not relent in stating my opinion on your postulations. i must state here that you have started to feel the hit from the pple, steming from the pple’s dissatisfaction and disappointment in your party for haven failed them and the confidence bequeathed on your party and more especially the President you gave us. you pple rode to victory with all the promises of a change that was so miraculous that it could turn Nigeria into the best country in the world, wit a dollar equal to our naira, good hospitals and other amenities at our beck and call, without any efforts. it beats me that someone as experienced as u in Nigeria’s political sphere did not see all this so called rots and did not find ways of acknowledging them in your campaigns. I am left to believe you pple were out to get power by all means hence did not have any problems with deceiving Nigerians. pls sir, lets leave all this talk, APC has failed us. I expect you pple to just apologize to us, we might forgive u and still work with u, since we r not in the real world were u pple would have just left office

  • wummi

“It’s easy for those who are greedy to think that change is easy. Change is not about comfort of today, but the success of tomorrow. Nigeria was in the rollercoaster of losing hope. Then our party brought cure. Don’t let anyone deceive you, the cure is here”….. During campaign they said in one year they will change the whole country but now they are putting us in chains instead

  • joecole

ok now who will lai Mohammad blame now becos he always blame it on the pass govt, but I guess he has not hear this news , too bad. pls mr tinubu come out plain and let Nigerians know the truth which is APC are not ready to rule but to loot ……. we all know this things

  • Nkechi Nwosu

Taa mechie onu, how dare u Tinubu, did u say patience. NO, NO, NO, and NO again. There was no patience with GEJ so same applies for PMB. I nugo

  • sambo ibrahim

Any well-meaning Nigerian will categorically tell you that this government lacks what it takes to pioneer the affairs of this country. Electoral mal-practices is on the fore front. most of the elections conducted so far has proven that the apc government got into power in a cunning mode. There is no election that has been conducted since the buhari’s government that has not been declared inconclusive. Look at how they use their compromised military might to intimidate the innocent electorates during elections. Must power be taking by violence. It’s quite unfortunate that the man – buhari we so much trusted to bring about a lasting solution to the problems facing this economy is the same man causing more woes.

  • Johnson

GEJ provided us with hope, yes he had his faults but he was a man who was committed to making the nation great again but APC and GMB has failed the country. They lied and deceived the gullible into a false sense of change. What we have is backwards change! GMB is taking us backwards and the people are beginning to realize it and come 2019 he will be voted out!

  • divinity

    N.B
when you claim Buhari is working on policies that will develop this country, sadly this is a fatal lie from a respected elder statesman. the man PMB is confused. most of his travels(which is all he has been doing since he took over from GEJ) has not yielded anything of benefit to the country. if anything it has only generated more of controversies than real solution(the MoU with saudi is an example) GEJ at this stage was affecting us properly, his Transformation agenda had a clear cut part way. but pls sir were is this change taking us? and how do we arrive dia? thats what PMB should let us knw. then we will be sure he is working

    • sambo ibrahim

He is rather working on policies that will derail the economy

  • sambo ibrahim

Nothing has been said or done by Mr Buhari as regards the Agatu killings were hundreds of lives were sent to an untimely after-life, and more lives are been wasted by the buhari – fulani brothers on daily basis. Is it because he is also from the fulani clan? May be we need to be patient about this too as mr Tinubu would suggest.

  • jennifer pius

compare this govt with that of GEJ and u will see that this govt don’t know what they are doing becos they had the worst ministers so far, ministers that don’t know their roles and all they could say is for us to be patient , how long will Nigerians be put in d dark ?????? its high time we say enough enough….. Nigerians are suffering and they say we should be patient or they want many pple to die before they do something?

    • sambo ibrahim

      Let’s call it clueless government

  • mark10

AGAIN ………./////// how long must we be patient and what happen to our budget? up till now is not out yet and the state is in a stand still when nothing just working

  • Opia

I’d’ve been rest assured if d poliicies on ground had clear directions as to where we’re heading,But as it is now,we are definitely LOST and nose diving into TOTAL FAILURE,Its pathetic to think leaders like Tinubu wud ask for patience rather than talk 2 their friend Buhari 2 get his acts right

  • peter

mr tinubu is have good time with his family and telling Nigerians to be patient, if he know what is the situation of some pple in this country then he will not say be patient becos we have waited for a long time and nothing has been done

  • udo

how long will it take the president to make the change her promised

  • Femi

truth be told…this man shud go and hide in shame… some1 who has no say in the activites of the nation is coming to advice the nation. as if he is innocent . these are the men who turn this nation to what it is now and he is now appealing to the nation to be patient. as if he advised Nigerians to be patient with GEJ

  • udo

meanwhile our president has proven that he is a johnny walker ambassador, rather than stay in the country and do his work, he is busy going about from one country to another

  • timi

I believe that this man called tinubu do not have conscience, when the nation is a dark, what da f*****

  • linda Ohuro

These are the kind of cheap unoriginal rhetorics one would expect from Tinubu, a blood sucking conscienceless and ruthless amoral corrupt manipulator.. Nigerians should What? While yet living judgement will desend on you.

  • Emeka

Even with our eyes open, they still tink dey can change the way we tink abt dis govt? Tinubu dream on……..APC is nearing their end…….come 2019

  • Fuzio

Winning election is the easy part. Nigerians are waiting for the fulfillment of all the mind blowing promises you and your party made to secure the victory. You will be held accountable when the time comes.

  • Domingos

It is amazing how much Chimney-like activities can affect the brains of a man. So it is now that Bola knows that nothing is working in Nigeria? Did he just wake up?

Just like the Oooooooni of Ife who after engaging in Chimney-like activities began to see the boundaries of his kingdom extending to Benin City, Bola just realizing that something is wrong. The same man who sends all his children to UK and US to study to get “good” education but plays second fiddle to a Buhari who could not pass WAEC high school exams. How could anyone in his/her right senses have expected that someone who is academically challenged like Buhari will be able to make a difference? Is that not mumudity?

  • Efe

This pishure looks like the pishure of the dead.
PT, dont you have the pishure of the living? I mean a ‘lively’ pishure?
