President Muhammadu Buhari said Monday in Abuja that the Federal Government had begun mobilizing the military and task forces to stop the sabotage of oil facilities and kidnapping of citizens for ransom in the coastal areas of the country.

Speaking at a meeting with a delegation from the United States Institute of Peace, President Buhari also said that his administration was giving the highest priority to the resettlement of displaced persons and rehabilitation of infrastructure in the Northeast.

The President assured the delegation that his administration’s ongoing war against corruption would be fought within the ambit of the law and that mechanisms had been put in place to ensure respect for human rights in the fight against terrorism.

“We attach great importance to human rights. If there are breaches, they will be investigated and dealt with,” presidential spokesperson, Garba Shehu, quoted the president as saying.
President Buhari, according to Mr. Shehu, welcomed the growing international support, especially from the United States and Europe, for Nigeria’s efforts to end the Boko Haram insurgency.

The President also expressed happiness with the support of Nigerians for the cardinal programmes of his government, the security of the country, the war against corruption and revival of the economy, which, he said, the administration would continue to vigorously pursue.

Nancy Lindborg, who led the Institute’s delegation, applauded the progress being made by the Buhari administration in ensuring greater security in Nigeria.

She promised the continued assistance of the Institute for the reconstruction and development work going on in the country.

President Buhari is not honest about human rights !! Hundreds of unarmed civilian shiite Muslims including women and children were massacred by the Nigerian army in Zaria and their bodies hijacked from mortuaries and streets and secretly buried. The families of these victims are still asking for the remains of their loved ones so that they can give them decent burials with religious rites but to no avail.

Unarmed Biafran agitators in the SS and SE are routinely shot and killed without arrest and often in public .The US and other civilised countries have so far kept a low profile as these blatant human rights abuses intensify, just last week,Biafran agitators were killed in a prayer ground as they prayed. How long will the US in particular look the other way as these brutalities continue ?

Talk about issues not propaganda please. Haha!!!

    • ed

Nothing will change if you can’t make your opposition known to the world news media.
The inability of Igbo to mobilize international attention to the happening in Nigeria is hard to explain.

What a handsome president! Enjoying a fulfilled dream, so very refreshed. Nine months ago, people had different opinions. Ride on Mr. President.

Putting Niger Delta in the same league as the NE does Nigeria a great disservice. What does the NE contribute to Nigeria’s well being? Prioritizing NE development above others shows how unserious this administration is in identifying sectors and regions that are engines of growth and encouraging them. You can waste as much money as you like in the NE, BH will still lay them waste.

    • favourtalk

Another ethnic biggot. We are talking about peace and he is fighting for the oil they didn’t even give him one naira on it. Shame

      • Fuzio

You must be responding to the wrong post. For there is nothing in my post that justifies your vicious ‘ethnic biggot (bigot?)’ label.

Former Northern Military Officer expose plans to massacre Niger Deltans

In what appears to be the shocker of the year, a retired northern military officer, Colonel Hassan Sabo has voiced a plot to massacre Niger Deltans using Obasanjo’s crime against humanity, the worthless Odi example.

Rtd Col. Hassan Sabo threatened to level communities in the Niger Delta just as former President Obasanjo leveled Odi in Bayelsa state.

Sabo made the threat on live television during Channels TV Programme ‘Sunrise Daily’ while reacting to renewed bombing of oil pipelines. He said, “If I have my way, the Obasanjo levelling of Odi will take place in some of these ND communities if they don’t fish out those boys”

“Niger Delta communities should hand in the criminals else they should be dealt the Odi treatment”

This is the most senseless unthinking evil statements ever to be made by a retired certificate less Fulani General-Who is really stealing crude oil in the Niger Delta under the ongoing oil glut in the world market—mumu Buhari—-?———Are the oil blocks not owned by the Fulanis and Yorubas—-of Nigeria? Buhari foolishly yearns to improve the lot of his Fulani brothers in Boko haram and the IDP camps. Most of whom sneaked into Nigeria from Niger Republic, Chad, Burkina Faso and Mali. Same as Buhari-Whereas the Zone that has been feeding Nigeria with her crude oil resources 4 over 60 yrs, are to be militarized for the Fulanis and Yorubas—Who are the custodians of our destiny in the SS–Led by the Itsekiris war-lords like Sagay and Keyamo who claim to own every Ijaw town in the Niger Delta now—Yes Buhari can borrow more than 2.1b for the North East, which is still at war-with Boko Haram. But refuses to fix a single road in the entire south south—-The men who were arrested for bombing oil pipelines–in d SS, are members of APC—–Not Tompolo–ati Asare Dokubo——The Niger Delta is not an area zoned in Nigeria for the protection of the CIA. Rather than talk about his refusal to obey simple court orders, concerning Kanu and Dasuki –Buhari is busy lying to the CIA again- SS does not need a Radio Changi like the Fulanis -to know about the demonic plans Buhari has for the zone–The Ijaw Nation did not fight in the Biafran war to protect their oil wells–the Ijaws like Isaac Boro laid down their lives because of One Nigeria——–never because of the sweet crude–oil that Buhari is prepared to kill ever ijaw man for with the aid of the Itsekiris —–Animals-

OUR MUMU TOO MUCH: OUR MUMU TOO MUCH

Immediately oil was discovered in Niger Delta, North abandoned its groundnut pyramid and grabbed the oil.

1.Today 83% of Niger Delta oil wells are own by northerners.

    2. Kaduna refinery is a waste, if the crude oil was in kaduna, northerners wouldn’t have allowed a refinery to be built in UGBORODO. They would have gone to war for it. No businessman would do that, you will not do it.

    3. North killed Ken Saro Wiwa, poured acid on him in his grave, to scare Niger Delta militants and continue the control and domination.

    4. Northern elite are lazy, they cannot survive without Niger Delta oil.

    5. Control of the Nigeria Delta oil was gradually slipping away from the north during Jonathan’s administration, that was why they were desperate to get power back. They were ready for war, if Buhari didn’t win, Jonathan got the damning security report, and he saved Nigeria.

    6. Boko Haram was part of the game plan.

    7. It’s all about oil and northernization of our institutions, of Nigeria. Buhari dont care about corruption, all he cares about is oil and Northern dominance. If he truly cares about corruption he would have fell in love with chairman efcc position, instead petroleum minister position.

    8. Northern dominance is helped by some senseless southerners. These talk about patriotism, hate and other foolishness, as if only southerners should be patriotic. Those stealing oil wells and refusing to pay 10% compensation to host communities are they patriotic? These chichidodos preach patriotism to southerners, but don’t preach patriotism to those who wasted billions of naira to lay pipes from Warri to Kaduna refinery. They don’t preach patriotism to those slaughtering innocent people with AK47 and daggers in kano, Maiduguri, Jos, Ibadan, and Agbor. They don’t preach patriotism to those who killed youth corpers and called for the killing of baboon, monkeys and dogs.

    9. North says there is no host communities, that the host community is Nigeria. That was in the floor of the senate

    10. Do not listen to them, they will call you names like: Hater, tribalist, unpatriotic etc. Do not listen to them, you are not a hater, neither are you a tribalist or unpatriotic. Rather you are the opposite, you are fighting, hate, tribalism and unpatriotic. They would have called those who fought for civil rights in United States and apartheid in South Africa, racist. They will fail, no amount of insult or blackmail, or lies, or spinning can kill truth. Truth will prevail over lies. The struggle continues,

    Our mumu too much.

    • lambert

All that you write is true. But we would never have been in this situation if the Niger Delta people had supported the Biafra war.

  • Omotolaaraujo

Buhari should be in Delta making peace and connecting with the people there. The problems of Delta cannot be treated from afar.

  • favourtalk

God bless PMB for various ways and means to bring peace to the people and Nigeria as a whole. We need more of your presence among us sir. Kudos to the gallant soldier for the wonderful works done so far in the war fronts.

what did people, niger deltans especially, expect buhari to do when their so-called brother, jonathan ruled for about 6 years and seem not to understand nigerian politics and niger delta oil? if jonathan thought rehabilitating ijaw militants (claiming ignorance while his friends and cronies looted treasuries and some family members acted in other corrupt ways) and not the general population, not to mention the region’s pollution saga; what do they expect buhari, an hausa whose interest is to exploit and pollute niger delta, protect his region and maintain the status quo do?
