‘Shocked’ Ribadu denies receiving money from Dasuki

A former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Nuhu Ribadu, has denied receiving any money from the embattled former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.

In a statement Tuesday, Mr. Ribadu said those trying to discreetly plant a story against him in the media should come forward with documentary evidence to suggest that he collected money from Mr. Dasuki or had made some refunds to government.

“My attention has been drawn to insinuations in certain quarters of my purported repayment of some monies I was allegedly given by the former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd),” Mr. Ribadu said.

“For the record, let me categorically state that I had nothing to do with the former NSA while he was in office. I cannot remember meeting him at anytime while he held sway.

“It is therefore shocking for me to be accused of receiving something from someone I never had any relationship with, not to talk of refunding money he gave me.”

Mr. Dasuki is currently facing prosecution for his alleged involvement in a $2.1billion arms fraud when he was the NSA.

Mr. Ribadu said he did not receive any money from the former NSA either directly or through a proxy.

“There is therefore no reason for me to make any refund,” he said.

“Also, I have not been contacted by any security agency on this matter to warrant any action of that nature on my part.”

I hope you are telling the truth because despite my disappointment with you since you joined politics, this one will be too much to accept.

  • Oladeji Y

Ribadu’s contribution is needed in the anti corruption crusade. He has the steel, the will and the passion. Those trying to discredit him are afraid of him coming on stage.

    • eclub

You need the help of a convicted criminal looter (just because there’s rumor that he is a looter by EFCC) to help in the anti-corruption crusade? Woe unto you hypocrites.

      • Hans Oreva

shutup jor abi na you convict Ribadu? useless pple talking nonsense

      • Julius

Sometimes the police and the intelligent agencies use the criminals to nail criminals. This is done everywhere in the world .Im not saying that Ribadu is a criminal, mimd you.

        • eclub

          • Julius

            NP != No problem.

      • Oladeji Y

Ribadu, a convicted criminal? Which court, tribunal, or panel convicted or even indicted him? After leaving EFCC he has some international engagement including at UN. He served as chairman of an investigative committee under your GEJ. So when did he became a convicted criminal? Stay troubled and woeful!

        • eclub

You misunderstand, I was trying to expose the hypocrisy in defending an accused Ribadu, and treating the other accuseds as convicted criminals.

Ribadu, Dasuki, Kanu, Metuh etc are all accuseds. So, if Ribadu gets benefit of the doubt, so do the others.

          Oh let me….
          Never mind.

  • Rommel

I hope he is saying the truth because we have heard those lines severally from those singing a different tune now,if it is true,I will be the one to come for that money,he should be warned, like I said, let it be that he is telling the truth

    • Julius

      Same here !

  • eclub

Oooohhhhoo! Just him denying it is enough to cut him some slack until further notice, eh? You guys are a bunch of liars and hypocrites pretending not to know how accusations, denials, and proof work. FROM TODAY I WILL NO LONGER COMMENT ON THINGS YOU ALREADY KNOW, but playing tribal ignorance. The trouble with Nigeria is Nigerians.

The solution apparently is WAR, not civil discussion.

    Oga Premium Times! Lol

  • Akpas

Oh Nuhu Ribadu, How are the mighty fallen? It is only God that could not be corrupted by Jonathan’s government!

  • Action Group

Nuhu,am very sorry for you because you sold your conscience for a mere porridge to become governor at all cost running from one party to the other, since then your integrity has been in doubt,so if you are accused today you deserved every accusation because you behaved like a true Nigeria politician. We hope your rebuttal is true sha?

how much did dasuki give obasanjo?…

    • Truthometer

Obasanjo lives in Ota. Why don’t you go and ask him?

      • Julius

lolz. Obj was the one warning the country about Jonathan. These fools are praying that he got some money from Dasuki so they can rejoice !. It aint happening !!

      • Iskacountryman

the road to ota is untarred…

    • Julius

You should ask Dasuki that question. You think if Obj is involved it will take this long for his name not to pop out ?. Be serious. I know thats what some of you are looking and even praying for. It will make a good story and fit your narratives bout him. That may not happen, but, we shall see. Keep hope alive !. Spread the news !

  • Dawn2Dusk

No smoke without fire. There seem to be an element of truth in the allegation. Ribadu will soon be singing a different chorus when he is presented with overwhelming evidence to the contrary. The advent of social media has made it practically impossible to conceal information. More so SR has a mole within the EFCC who is feeding them with first hand info. So sad to see Ribadu walking a tightrope.

  • Nkem

Ribadu I believe you. But I hope you did not collect money from somebody who collected money from Dasuki.

    • Simon Templar

      Lol !

    • Julius

      Thats my thinking as well.

    • Kitunde

      Nice one…lol

  • favourtalk

He is not like the bunch of looters I PDP that took and ate Nigeria money. We are better off with most of the but ribadu is still one of the best thing to happen to Nigeria

  • MushinSpeaks

Ribadu is an intelligent man that understands the rhythms of governance. Not holding brief for him yet he must have been careful in his dealings.

We Did Not Spend N82 million Alone On Prof. Wole Soyinka” – Amaechi.

Former Rivers governor, Rotibi Amaechi through his the Information Commissioner and Acting. NDDC boss, Ms Ibim Semenitari has thrown more light on the N82million spent on a dinner for Prof Wole Soyinka.
Accroding to Ms Semenitari, “we did spend the N82m, but not just for the dinner, we had Dance Drama by the University of Port Harcourt Arts Village, Great Singha & His Highlife Band; Set Design, Stage Lighting & Costume Design; Costume Design & Stage Property; Dinner; Transportation and Accommodation of guests from outside the country and those outside Rivers State; Decoration; Travels & Logistics, etc.”

The current government have requested that the said N82billion should be refunded by Soyinka or his host, especially the cash gift spent on Soyinka.

Buhari is confused————————he does not even know if he is the president of Nigeria, Senegal or Katsina state—–

im Nwobobo Got N100Million PDP Campaign Fund Not Arms Purchase Fund.

“I got N100million for campaign purposes and not N500 million as reported in the Media. I did not receive the money from either Dasuki or Yuguda. The money I received was from a former National Chairman of PDP, Adamu Muazu and that is from the Party Campaign fund.

“I gave the list of the disbursement according to states to the party Exco, I disbursed to then Deputy Speaker (Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha and Imo PDP Governorship candidate) and other Party faithful”- Jim Nwobodo.
1] The $2.1billion is the total Defense Budget in the last few years, which the Buhari panel added together. They Never said that this fund was missing or mismanaged, and their report is not yet submitted.
2] $320m was the Abacha Money given to Dasuki and he has denied misappropriating even a kobo from the funds meant to purchase arms for Our soldiers.
3] The Billions Dasuki shared are from his Security Vote and that of the President, which the law did not spell our how it will be spent. He was denied freedom to prevent him from telling his side of the story.
4] $1billion arms loans approved by the National Assembly were remitted to Arm dealers and Countries that sold arms to Nigeria directly. No kobo from the above fund entered Nigeria.
5] The arms Purchase Investigation have not indicted anyone, that is why the Govt and its Agencies refocused on the Security Votes and how PDP spent their Campaign funds.

    • kinsly

Security votes? You are more sick than i thought! Very very sick. May God deliver you…say Amen?

      • Hopeistheonlyformofreason

Why don’t you check how much Buhari has budgeted in 2016 for “Security votes”… 50$ Dollars.. for one year. How much do you think will have been budgeted for by 2019? How much do you think will be accounted for? Don’t be naive. Nobody denies that Security Votes are essentially slush funds… But look beyond the propaganda and see that it still ongoing.

  • Julius

Thats pdp for you. Soon they will tell us that Dasuki gave money to Obj and Pa Awolowo. They have nothing to offer the Nation so, its just rant for ranting sake.

  • John

Despite Ribadu miscalculation that led to his joining PDP, he is still someone I held in high esteem. Some people joined APC to get elected and go back to where they belong, the same way there is nothing bad in Ribadu joining PDP, thinking that the party will help him get what he needed to prove his worth as a genuine public administrator. People should not forget how his former party leaders (ACN) prevented him to step down for Buhari in the previous election but latter dumped him to give their votes and that of their supporters to Jonathan. This guy is still needed in the scheme of things in Nigeria. This government should embrace him, he is one of them. Today, EFCC would have been forgotten if Ribadu didn’t build a solid foundation there or if he had fell into the hands of the people he exposed and dealt with.
