The Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, has urged Nigerians to double efforts at bridging gaps in the country, saying what unites the people is more important than things that divide them.

Speaking in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, when he joined two other Muslim northern governors to take part in festivities to commemorate this year’s Christmas, Mr. Tambuwal said Nigeria’s diversity is a source of strength which should be cherished and nurtured for the benefit of the people.

The other governors in the entourage were Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara and Abubakar Bagudu of Kebbi.

The three joined Governor Udom Emmanuel to felicitate with him over the birth of Christ and as well commiserate with him over the recent tragedy which claimed scores of lives after a church building collapsed in Uyo early this month.

Speaking when he met with Mr. Emmanuel, Mr. Yari, who is also the chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum, NGF, described the tragedy as unfortunate.

He said the decision to set up an investigative panel to unravel the causes of the collapse is a right move in the right direction.

“Your Excellency’s miraculous escape from death in the sad incident is surely one of God’s wonders.

“We at the Governors Forum received with shock, the sad news of the church’s collapse and we want to send message of solidarity to the people and government of Akwa Ibom over this unfortunate incident. Our prayers are with those who lost loved ones, and those who sustained injuries,” Mr. Yari added.

Responding, Mr. Emmanuel thanked the visiting governors especially for choosing a holy day like the Christmas day to visit Akwa Ibom.

He described Nigerian Governors as a big and important family, saying the unity exhibited by the visit will further cement the cordial relationship between the peoples of Nigeria.

I hope this is genuine friendship and not a psyop to sharianize the region.

    • ukoette ibekwe

There is never genuine friendship between the Fulanis and the Niger Deltans. It is all about controlling the resources in the Niger Delta. They have failed in Rivers and bayelsa now they are turning the friendliness charm on the lily livered governor of Akwa ibom. If there was an election they would be attacking him with all the boko haram security agents in the land.

Chicken brain. It is people like you that continued to hold the country down from peaceful existence.

      • zallo

Must you guys always try to make meanings out of any attempt to make peace with other regions?

        • Say the truth

You can never tell with the oligarchy and they are never to be trusted. Go and ask Tinubu. The governor should not be too comfortable with these fellows especially with Tambuwal. He was the insider that factionalized the PDP and betrayed Jonathan.

I hope and pray so as well . This is a very good development for the country.

Udomah Emmanuel watch ur back. These people, certainly are looking for something. U must not be dt black leg in the ranks of Niger Delta and South East people.

  • Ohnigeria Godsavenigeria

If the Muslim North decides to seek for forgiveness, peace and unity in Nigeria as a precursor to moving Nigeria forward, they must call buhari to order, and insist that buhari must respect the constitution of Nigeria by being just, fair and equitable to every geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The Muslim north through buhari must not be carrying on with the doctrine of 97%+5%, and at the same time pretending that they are building bridges with the same people they are oppressing and subjugating. Injustice breeds disharmony, hate, anger, rebellion and enmity. Bulgari is the worst thing that ever happened to Nigeria unity. Before buhari quest for presidency, Nigerians where living in peace until Bulgari introduced religion, ethnic and parochial bigotry into our political field. Buhari assumption to power have destroyed the foundation of unity, peace and love amongst Nigerians. may God help Nigerians to recover their nation from this epidemic called change, which have destroyed the economy, peace, unity and progress of Nigeria.

Mchwww!!! Bigotry at the lowest ebb…….

Emmanuel, watch your steps. The devils have come to felicitate with you on the birth of Christ?! Hhmmnn.

Udon Emmanuel must be watchful and be careful with Tambuwal in particular. Others l may not say much but with Tambuwal in that delegation it appears to me like this is an emissary of the oligarchy trying to sample as well as recruit the governor for the 2019 elections. There appear to be a growing apprehension and at the same time a desperation for APC about South South and they would be willing to do anything to claim that region for Buhari. My intuition tells me that Akpabio is up to something and he is aware of this moves.

If you people like spend the Christmas and New year in Opobo Island that is not our business. We can never have any kind of unity with Hausa-fulani islamist extremist fondamentalist terrorist tribes.
