The Acting National Publicity Secretary of the governing All Progressives Congress, APC, Timi Frank, has said that comments made by the wife of the President Aisha Buhari, was not meant to discredit the present administration but to sound a note of caution for the betterment of Nigerians and the country at large.

The APC chieftain, in a statement on Friday, warned opponents of the APC administration not to rejoice or misinterpret the interview, adding that the president’s wife spoke the minds of many party men and women who felt sidelined in the present government.

“I think Mrs. Buhari deserves commendation because she is actually speaking the minds of not only the party members but Nigerians,” Mr. Frank said.

“What Mrs. Buhari has said is not different from what some of us have been saying that it is high time the President shake-up his cabinet and bring in people who understand the manifesto of the party and could help the party deliver on its change mantra, especially, the economy of the country that needs an urgent attention.

“Some of our leaders like the Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki, have made this same observation in the past and I think they meant well for the administration and the country. I will also join them in appealing to the president to do the needful,” he said.

“Nigerian women in politics and other wives of president in the world have a lot to learn from what Mrs. Buhari has done. We should not forget in a hurry that this is what the former first lady Mrs. Patience Jonathan failed to do to her husband when few people hijacked his government and brought the government down.”

The APC spokesperson also called on the president to act fast and correct some of the abnormalities currently threatening the existence of the party.

What is this man saying again ?. Didn’t he hear her husband order her back into the kitchen ?.
But seriously, Mrs Buhari is a wife in a million. She really means well for her husband and Nigeria.

The impression one has about northern Nigeria Muslim women is that they are neither meant to be seen nor heard. But Mrs, Buhari has shown herself to be different, apparently due to her education and family background. She is highly educated compared to Buhari and she comes from a powerful well to do family there in the North.

Her statements in the interview show that she can connect with the feelings and aspirations of ordinary Nigerians. She can as well connect with their sufferings at this time and, despite the risks, she is not afraid to say it. By this, she has earned my respect and, I believe, the respect of millions of Nigerians. She thinks like a true leader. The one that Nigeria is yet to have.

@thussspokez has described the consequence of Buharis’ reaction in the most appropriate way. He talks like someone who does not understand the world we live in. He has stirred the hornet’s nest. Not ony German women, women around the world, Particularly in the West will be up in arms. I pity Buhari, not because o what Aisha said but because of consequences of his own reckless utterances

Her education is worth nothing if she has no tact and decorum. Who comes out to condemn her husband before the whole world. The only mistake buhari has made is giving in to her and allowing her carry on with the office of first lady. Aisha should not have been let out of the kitchen. This singular act of hers has taken the women empowerment movement back many decades because men will cite her behaviour as a reason not to empower their wives.

      • wode

One of the reasons why there is no “Office of the First Lady” in this administration. That’s one of her grievances and frustrations? Nice submission!

      • LocalMan

@James Ojapa – PMB branded ALL Nigerians as criminals and I am sure you either agreed with him or applauded him?

Listen to yourself… MEN to empower their wives??? Mttttcheeew!

APC spokesperson hails Aisha Buhari’s cabinet hijack comment

Mrs Buhari seem to be a clever woman. The interview was done to do her husband a big favour except that he is too stµpid to realise this.

It was intended to enlighten the public and generate public debate and earn her husband public sympathy. This is what politics is about, namely, if you want to do something and some vested interests are impeding you, you go public. Public sympathy to strengthen Buhari’s hands which will help him move against the vested interests in his government, instead, the inept Buhari saw his wife’s help as something negative.

All of them are the same thing. They too want to control if they’re allowed. The President knows them all. It’s just for their selfish interest.

This woman’s level of Intellectual Disposition is not only amazing but intimidating. The courage in her can be compared with that of great women whose efforts and genuine advice enhanced good governance. Her outrage was born out of frustration and the realities of the time we are in. It took the president six solid months to gather 36 wise men of which 90% of them are Round pegs in square holes.
