Some Nigerian scientists ‎searching for crude in Lake Chad have been kidnapped.

Although the exact number of victims has not been confirmed, a spokesper‎son of the state oil firm, NNPC, confirmed the kidnap to PREMIUM TIMES.

Sources in Borno had earlier told PREMIUM TIMES that the victims were abducted on Tuesday by suspected members of Boko Haram.

Though security agencies have not spoken officially on the incident, sources in Borno said the scientists and engineers who were moving alongside some personnel of the Civilian-JTF, were ambushed near a village called Jibi in Gubio Local Government Area.

A top personnel of the NNPC currently on exploration duty in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State confirmed that the whereabouts of some officials could not be ascertained.

The source, who pleaded not to be named due to the sensitivity of information, said most of the personnel that are “supposed to be at the location where they were reportedly attacked could not be reached through their special devices of communication.”

“I have just received a call from our head office asking us to confirm the attack if we have had any contact with our personnel who were supposed to be at the location where they were reportedly attacked.

“We tried reaching some of our boys that were recently deployed from Alkaleri project site through our crew channel and we could not get them”, he said.

PREMIUM TIMES checked the Specialist Hospital, Maiduguri, where a source familiar with the incident said most of the attacked personnel were abducted.

A medical personnel who spoke to PREMIUM TIMES on strict condition of anonymity confirmed that a large number of injured persons were brought into the Accident and Emergency department late Tuesday evening and were being attended to.

The NNPC spokesperson, Ndu Ughamadu, confirmed the kidnap to PREMIUM TIMES.

He said those abducted were not NNPC direct staff but sub-contractors.

A department in the NNPC responsible for the exploration sub-contracted part of the work to the Geology department of the University of Maiduguri as part of efforts to encourage indigenous scientists‎, the spokesperson explained.

It is those employees of the university geo‎logy department that were kidnapped, he said.

The reported attack is coming five days after the Nigerian Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, issued a directive for the arrest of the Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, within 40 days.

The kidnap also comes about two months after the NNPC management announced that it was resuming oil exploration around the Lake Chad area following assurances by the Nigeria military that the security situation had improved in the area that was once under the control of Boko Haram.

This is what patriotic citizens are taking about a government that is using lies, falsehoods and propaganda as her instrument to govern.a government suffering from integrity deficiency and lying tongue syndromes.the number of citizens who have lost their lives in circumstances like this one ,are innumerable. What does it cost buhari to always rule Nigeria with truth. Shameless people.

YOUR DRUNK AND WOMANISED PRESIDENT,presided over Nigeria for 5 years and grew our economy to the biggest in Africa, 16th in the world, sold fuel to us at 86 naira per liter ,revolutionalized agriculture, sold fertilizer to farmers at 3500 per bag, created many young millionaire farmers, grew our capital market from 7t to 15t ,sold a bag of rice for 7000 to Nigerians, dollar 165 naira ,gave every side of Nigeria senses of belonging, ensuring peace, unity for Nigerians .
Buhari is a terrible calamity that have undermined and destroyed Nigerian economy, unity, peace and development.
No wonder that God is giving him his due recompense in London.

A bloody revolution is coming soon

Nigeria is denuded of thought and of intellectuals who’ll fit the jigsaw puzzle in the country
with perfect clarity of thought that once STEALING remains the acceptable basis for the
creation of class and elite structure in Nigeria, kidnapping will soar along with ransom,
robbery, thefts and bribes, because stealing is a syndrome of several facets, and so,
each Nigerian will become a law to himself and determine for himself what’s to be
stolen, when and how. This is the summary of the Nigerian tragedy – with over
28 million youths now officially recorded as un-employed and therefore poor.
There’s now no path to peace in Nigeria with 28 million un-employed youths.
Nigeria’s theft tragedy will eventually be resolved on the streets in blood.
A physical elimination of treasury thieves will soon begin across Nigeria.

  • PARASITE O PARASITE

Until Nigeria and Nigerians have courage to BREAK UP and completely dissolve the country called Nigeria there shall never be peace. I tell you, among the emergent countries you will never hear of suicide bombs, chopping off of heads, limbs, killings based on blasphemy charges, burning of Churches etc except in one and only one country – The Arewa Republic of the blood thirsty Northern peoples.

But cowardice and parasitism of some regions is part of what is still delaying this inevitable break up. But we are getting very close now.

  • Niger Deltan

    Dear AVENGERS,
Do you see what I see? Nigeria is spending millions of Naira looking for oil in the desert and man made Lake in the North. Whereas, the Ogoni Land and all other parts of the Niger Delta remain heavily polluted and the Buhari’s administration says there is no money. They can’t even spend a thousand to clean up a square meter. And what about Maritime University? – No money for take off abi? But Nigeria is planning to establish 6 new Federal Universities. Where will that money come from? So my people, we are wasting time in Nigeria. Time to take over our resources is now…and let us actualize Self Determination and exit Nigeria for good.

  • Fairgame

“Mr. Isiaka Adeleke, the first civilian governor of Osun state and a
three-time member of the Nigerian Senate up until his death a few months
ago, was enjoying a life time pension which had run up to
    N446million in seven years.”

This is sad. How could one man earn N446m in 7 years as pension in a state where children receive lectures under the trees becos there are no sufficient classed? In a state with teeming unemployed youths and graduates? Please Nigerians, join me in praying that this ex-Governor and all other Governors that have engaged in this illegal and inhumane enterprise rot in the hottest parts of hell. Amen?

Don’t be afraid, join me in this prayer today and pray the prayer everyday and say AMEN to this my prayer.

Buhari’s misadventure in searching for oil

    • Poetico2000

      @Dazmillion:disqus;

Muhamadu Buhari – An odd man for our bad times

Kidnapping is stealing by other means but Muhamadu Buhari is
self-limited by bile, poor education, nepotism and narrow vision. He’s able to
do what he’s able to think up – which is not much, actually – and so, Nigeria
is stuck in a time-warp, so to say, and mistaking a war against heinous thefts
by the PDP administration as the whole meaning of war against corruption.
Whereas’ it’s only a part of it. A genuine war against corruption won’t hold
APC party members immune as party members but bring every malefactor to
justice. The foreign press still can’t see the wood for the trees and make the
right judgment call on Buhari’s ersatz and rakishly one-sided war against
corruption in Nigeria. The country’s overall ethics have slackened in
consequence on the prejudice driving Buhari’s wrong-headed war against graft
which, to be frank, is actually more fought overseas by America and Italy who
both bring thefts occurring inside Nigeria into their own national courts, to
expose a lot more than Buhari’s sloven efforts so far achieved. Nigeria’s
actual task is to fight corruption across the board – from Bourdillon to Kano –
rather than limit corruption to the Ijaw in the creeks and only to the Ijaw’s
      neighbouring Igbo and Ikwerre kinsmen.

          @Dazmillion:disqus

Please permit me to share my thoughts. There’s a less discussed aspect of Nigeria’s decline and fall. It is the role of the bribed media and their biddable Editors. You may not like what I am saying but it’s the truth. The media contribute to the decline and fall of Nigeria. Journalists have almost wholly lost their senses and see their newspapers as ram horns to be used to fight the other side. That’s not journalism. That’s fake media! It is not enough to spring a surprise once a while that someone has stolen money. It matters more to be guided with strict standard on how Nigerians REFUSE to be misgoverned. The media in Nigeria never do that.

The media don’t even ask questions of whom they support and that’s why no journalist in Nigeria’s
whole media has ever asked the whereabouts of eight (8) trillion Naira so far appropriated by the National Assembly and spent by the directionless Buhari government to no visible purpose. If the media is chained and unable to ask questions, why will Nigeria not dip deeper into this very terrible
economic recession? I am sorry to say that the media partnered with the two rogue political parties
in Nigeria (APC & PDP) to create a very congenial environment for treasury theft, waste and bribe,
          simply by not asking questions.

“I sympathise with Nigerians for voting Buhari.
We have a president who doesn’t have a friend outside the North,
and that’s a tragedy. As I am talking to you, I am convinced President Buhari’s presidency is dead.
He may be physically alive and I wish him good health, but as far as governance is concerned,
his presidency is dead and nothing can be done to resuscitate it. A presidency can be alive,
in terms of a leader, but in terms of programmes and achievements it can be dead and
          historically forgotten.”

      Breaking News:
      ……………………

The Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, has yesterday “expressed
concern over the increase in the fiscal deficit (under Buhari/Osinbajo government) to
over N2.5 trillion in the first six months of this year
.” In effect he said he’s become
less optimistic that Nigeria will soon exit recession without a relapse, especially given
Buhari/Osinbajo government’s addiction to debt, and, overall shambolic performance.

The international community too has not flagged any good news or flagged a silver lining
in the darkling Nigerian economy as it slides further into widespread crushing mass poverty.
Neither Muhamadu Buhari nor Yemi Osinbajo has a clue or answer on what to do to now or
next to put back the Nigeria’s Humpty—Dumpty shattered economy together again, as the
official un-employment figure in Nigeria soars past the 28 million mark, to exceed the whole
      population of Ghana today.

          • Secretary to Buhari’s government, Babachir Lawal – as the third most senior official after Buhari
and Vice President Osinbajo – formed a private company years earlier, and brazenly awarded a contract of ₦250 million to that same private company of his, to cut grass at the Refugee Camp.

President Buhari was told and he dragged his feet, but later set up a bogus administrative panel which declared that Mr. Babachir Lawal has no case to answer. President Buhari corruptly and
publicly approved the ‘no-case-to-answer’ until all hell was let loose by the media, and President
Buhari was forced to perhaps reluctantly ask Mr. Babachir Lawal to proceed on indefinite leave,
but without ever filing any criminal case in court against Mr. Babachir Lawal for corruption.
Please, is this how to fight corruption?

            • Meantime, some other corrupt acts lately uncovered by EFCC implicate five (5) bank chiefs
and make Buhari look more useless. The Managing Director of Sterling Bank, YEMI ADEOLA,
was uncovered to have actively hidden away from bank books a stolen sum of 153 million dollars, stolen from the NNPC. Till today Yemi Adeola remains in office in violation of public ethics and public
confidence. No fine has been imposed on Sterling Bank for this criminal act and the entire board
and management of Sterling Bank all remain in office with total impunity. Nobody has been made
to appear in court to answer any criminal charges. Please, is this how to fight corruption?
