The Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, has warned that persons agitating for secession and the northern groups that issued ultimatum to Igbos risked jail terms as they violated Nigeria’s laws.

Mr. Osinbajo gave the warning at a consultative meeting with traditional rulers from the South-East at the Presidential Banquet Hall, Abuja, on Sunday.

He said that the manner of the agitations, method and objective were wrong, unlawful and clearly violated the nation’s constitution.

He said: “I want to repeat that both the agitations for secession and the ultimatum to leave the northern states are wrong and a violation of our constitution.

“Our constitution says in Section 2 that Nigeria is one indivisible and indissoluble sovereign state to be known by the name `The Federal Republic of Nigeria’.

“That is the law of our country. Let us not be in any doubt about the fact that the Federal Government is committed to ensuring that our country remains united.

“And, anyone who violates the law in the manner such as we are seeing all over the place will be met with the full force of the law.

“The reason why it is so is because for Nigeria’s unity, enough blood has been spilled and many hundreds of thousands of lives have been lost.”

The acting president recalled that many Nigerians had paid the supreme price to keep the country united, saying that “it will be wrong for men and women of goodwill in this generation to toy with those sacrifices that had been made’’.

He, therefore, maintained that men of goodwill must not tolerate any tendency that would drag the nation in the direction of yet another civil conflict.

He, however, said that the government and people “must be sensitive to the reasons why there are agitations by the various young men across the various zones of this country.

“Many have to do with perceived marginalization; some have argued that safety in the different zones has been compromised.

“But I want to say the only way to make things right is to do things right. And, it will be wrong of us to approach even our grievances by threatening to disobey the laws or by threatening the integrity of our nation,” he added.

Mr. Osinbajo reiterated federal government’s commitment to listening to “all the reasons, the various suggestions and the various agitations and the reasons for those agitations and to ensure that we do justice to all persons regardless of where you are from in this country.

“That is the commitment of federal government which I am able to make to you today.

“Our greatness lies in our being together and I believe very strongly that as our royal fathers you will ensure the message is clear to all.’’

He added that the greatness of any people lay in their ability to work together in spite of their differences and the types of offence that had been caused between each other.

The acting president expressed the hope that royal fathers would continue to offer useful suggestions and the right advice to ensure that the country remained united.

Mr. Osinbajo will meet with the traditional rulers from the northern part of the country on Monday.

Thank you Again. President Osinbajo. Let whomever has grievances seek redress within the framework of our Constitution. Nzeogu and Ojukwu tried self-help outside the Constitution, they brought death to at least 1million Igbos and still FAILED.
IPOB and friends are welcome to choose any of the two options.

    • Abdulmojeed Nojeemdeen

Good, wear your amour, they are coming for you.

    • Karl Imom

As long as Government remains silent while Igbos bombard ordinary Nigerians with their incessant agitations, Nigerians will continue demand for their departure from Nigeria. The Ag. President Osinbanjo must not be living in a real world. Time for Biafra is NOW!!

    • Otile

You have Britain and Russia to thank for that genocide, otherwise the story would be different. Biafran and Arewa youths want the same thing, they want peaceful secession for Great Biafra. The only people opposing the good idea are corrupt politicians and lazy parasites, and you know it.

      • ita ekpo

We all know them. Do you think we have rooms to accommodate them. Their regret at last will turn to tears. Because for sure i know biafra have come to stsy. Why I do that. Had I known which is master of too late. Who is giong not to direct them to their master buhari and British people to live with.

    • ita ekpo

Why are you not reason yesterday and today is more far technological from yesterday. We are in present not pastence. Now a day no war but by agitation. Is the govt. Who does not know democracy kill. In civilised country like Britain how many killing have you seen. Just to stop agitation as nigeria. Should i put itbecause they are white. But when it was for africa struggle they killed alot of south africa youths. Just as buhari their servant did. to biafrans. This time no war determation is every nations right. if you can not stand up for your people. I will advise you to just sit and watch as you watching movies. And give praise for his stand up.

Where were these same royal fathers when kanu was going around the world soliciting arms for the destruction of the country, calling the country and the citizens zoo and animals , When he was using an illegal radio to spread hate ? Now the Aboki boys got into the acts and all hell broke loose.

    • Chris Samuel

Julius, you said kanu was soliciting for arms to destroy your country Nigeria. But then of all the agitation that has took place concerning BIAFRA, have you by any means see any of the BIAFRA agitators holding a stick, Cain, cutlass or a gun to molest, harass, intimidate or kill anyone in your country??? Think well before you talk Ewu and bingo Nigeria

      • Karl Imom

Did you see AREWA youths with sticks, daggers, or guns pointed to anybody’s head? Why is it NOT a sin for Igbos to demand to leave Nigeria but a sin to tell them to leave?

        • Otile

Get real, Ogbeni. Why have you not seen Arewa youths carrying daggers, guns and arrows pointed at anybody’s head? Who are the youths beheading people, who are Boko Haram boys and girls Be honest for once, are they Arewa or Biafran youths?

          • Julius

In that case you should be happy to leave their land. We all know that your fake cry and complains are bullshit . If you really mean what you have been yapping about this is a good excuse to follow thru…move back to your land …in your case back to the swamp. Hypocrite moron .

          • Karl Imom

Boko Haram youths are NOT Nigerians, so they cannot be AREWA youths. Is EVANS the terrorist and kidnapper an AREWA youth? The fact of the matter is, Biafra MUST be achieved and now, so there is NO point arguing with you. Pack your stuff and leave Nigeria!!

      • Julius

Yes, I have..hiding in the mix of the drug addicts pretending to be protesting while disturbing the law abiding business men and women and the ordinary citizens doing their businesses in peace. By the way why wasn’t kanu among the fake protesters ?

    • ita ekpo

You are still blind. What you don’t know in this present generation. That if you are target they can do anything that will tarnish your image. You still not know that computer can be used to design action that will look to you doing it. If you can look that action nobody will tell you.

      • Julius

wtf are you talking about ?

        • ita ekpo

What did you talk about.Didn’t you talk about kanu soliciting for gun. That when I come in with the comment. You don’t just believe thing that you don’t see. But believe on what your see crocro eye. Now a days computer can make you have quarrel on what you thing is real. As you are going out you don’t know you can be filmed put to computer to design action that can implicate you. What you know you can not do. Don’t just stay indoor to critise. If one can do what you can not. If you can not praise him. Just be silent.

          • Julius

Something is seriously wrong with you. Go look at the youtube and see your brother kanu at work and see the questions he got but can’t answer from those sensible patriotic Igbos. You are delusional…seek help

  • front man

    Good one VP

  • Sincere-Voice

    Well said Mr VP

    • Julius

You also know he will be abused for saying that.

  • Chris Samuel

for Christ sake Osibanjo you don’t behave like one with the fear of God as a Christian you are. you talking about constitution but you also forgot to understand that power belongs to the people. people have the right to determine where they want to be. If you quote from section 2 in the constitution that Nigeria is indivisible it means that Nigeria constitution has been tempered with in as much as it can be amended. The United Nations charter and laws maintained that people have the right to decide where they want to be. Mr VP l also advise that you tread with caution because you can only force a hose to the stream but you can’t force it to take water. Thanks

    • Julius

Well, tell your people to do what the Arewa youth is asking them to do. They are merely repeating what ipob and mossob had already instructed you to do so, stop pretending that you haven’t heard that before. Hurry up and take that right to leave in your own country/biafraud land. It’s simple.

  • Julius

Mr. VP, I hope that you know they will turn on you soon. They will be insulting you and calling you names. Heck, they might even blame you for what the Aboki boys are telling them. Be careful sir..God bless.

  • thusspokez

He said: “I want to repeat that both the agitations for secession and the ultimatum to leave the northern states are wrong and a violation of our constitution.

“Our constitution says in Section 2 that Nigeria is one indivisible and indissoluble sovereign state to be known by the name `The Federal Republic of Nigeria’.

It is not for the President or his VP to instruct the law agencies to do their jobs.

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo is clearly an intelligent man, sadly, his coded message or hint here to the law enforcement agencies to enforce the law as stated in the Nigerian constitution will not be recerived by the heads of the agencies because they are dumb.

In advanced society, it is enough for comments like these from the boss to galvanise the law enforcement agencies into actions — if they are not already on the case — , but not so in Nigeria, because these heads of the agencies are too dumb to take a hint; they want the AP to issue them instructions — which is not for the AP to give — before they would act.

I keep telling Nigerians that much of what is wrong in Nigeria is caused by the law enforcement agencies failure to do their jobs as independent organisations. They surrender their independence to politicians.

You wonder why the Arewa youths who issued the threats against the Igbos have not been arrested by the mediocre law enforcement agencies? Instead of doing their jobs, they are waiting for instructions from the President before they would act. Do these agencies bosses also wait for the President to give them instructions to arrest (say) Internet fraudsters, pickpockets, kidnappers, etc., before they do so?. If not, why are they refusing to arrest the senior members of the Arewa youths?

The AP’s hint is not just a wake up call but in effect, a subtle criticism of the ineptitude of law enforcement agencies, namely, the SSS and Police and their delay in moving against those Arewa idióts.

All this elders will be put to SHAME when biafra come. When that time come this elders should be pack their belonging to live with their master. No biafrans driver should carry them but to trek with their leg to where their suppose were. Please don’t jail them in biafra land not to consume biafrans food.

    • thusspokez

This comment is so immature, rubbish, and childish. Pardon me if you are a child or a retárd?

      • Julius

lmaooooooo, you are so diplomatic…he is a retard !

      • ita ekpo

I can see you as a childish man who can not speak the truth to defend his people.

  • Emmanuel Chidozie

Mr. Oshibanjo, you have not said anything new. Al you are doing is issuing threats. These are no solutions to a case that that is crystal clear. The Arewa youths are more realistic and visionary than yourself. Do the right thing. Covene a conferece and begin discussiona on the terms of the exit of the different group and announce a date for the Biafra exit referendum.Keep in mind that the first genocide committed against Biafrans was the ideas of Yorubas and in order to hide all the atrocities, the military came covered everything. Now it is going to be extremely difficult for such cover up now. Buratai is laready inching toward the international criminal court at the Hague. Be wise.
