The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is considering declaring a former Commissioner of Local Government in Niger State, Kantigi Liman, wanted after a further N2billion was traced to his United Bank for Africa account by the agency.

An EFCC insider told PREMIUM TIMES the discovery brings to N6 billion funds traced to accounts held by the politician and companies linked to him.

The Commission had weeks earlier traced N4billion to two accounts in GTBank, both linked to Mr. Liman.

The first account belongs to Sadiq Air Travel Agency Limited and the second to Kantigi.

Sources at the Commission however disclosed that the politician, who was a governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2015 election, has been elusive.

“He is on the run and all efforts to track him down have been futile. The next option left for the Commission is to declare him wanted,” the source said.

The source further disclosed that investigations so far indicated the funds were siphoned from the local government joint account of Niger State.

“The Commission desperately wants Liman, to confront him with the available evidence,” the source said. “He is believed to rake in a monthly interest of over N33million on the fixed deposits.”

Mr. Liman could not be reached for comments Friday morning.

When contacted, EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed Mr. Liman was being investigated.

“It is an ongoing investigation so I am not able to provide details at this time,” he said.

Screaming headline, zero on content. We now know that the former Commissioner is Liman but, what is the name of the fmr. Dept. Governorship candidate since 3weeks the EFCC have been dishing out Fake News… or is his name also elusive? Bologné.

    • kinsly

Comments of a retard as usual. Supporter of looters we know thee!

      • Tunde Kollington

No need to waste your precious time replying to that fake guy. He seems to be a mental case always prowling on twitter.

    • Awwal

The news is misleading, he was a former commissioner and PDP’s Dep governorship candidate. EFCC please always get your details clear before rushing to the public

    • joe-t

Pseudo man please clear the way. This meeting is for Men.,I mean the incorruptibles.

      • Höly Wähala

Fraudster… less than 1000 comments means you are hiding your real id. Asshole, coward.

  • FreeNigeria

God please save Nigeria from these heartless politicians.

  • Aminu Baba

I think good Nigerians should rise up together with me and demand two things or rather three:

    1. Death penalty for looters of public funds

    2. An independent corrupt practices tribunal

    3. Abolition of the Senate and conversion of the House of reps (to be called National Assembly) into a part time, two-tenured elective appointment

    • realist

The right thing to do, to really okay Buhari as meaning well for Nigeria. Not the changes that will collapse immidiatly after his exit. Entire system overhaul as you suggested, lest we can conclude that Buhari came to window dress.

      • True Cross Riverian

True. With true Federalism , we will manage ourselves better as a country

    • Just Me

I agree with you completely, but in addition to that, Nigeria should be restructured as well.

    • joe-t

      I am with you,my friend.

    • omobabalemomu

The senators should not resume from their recess. In fact they should remain in recess for ever

      • Sir Louis

You are absolutely on point. This would be the best thing that would happen to our much- abused nation.

  • Bright Ezeh

Buhari and magu God bless both of you lam praying for two of you, honestly this corrupt politicians killed Nigeria, please Nothing like lndependent tribunal buhari and magu should continue with their good work before the corrupt politicians will hijack the tribunal, wow shame on all corrupt politicians and up buhari and magu

  • fairgame

Without death sentence for stealing by these animals calling themselves politicians corruption will never end. BUT who is really clean? Even Mr Osinbanjo declared assets that his income can never justify. Cash assets of $1m and N100m is what no former university teacher and Lagos state public official should have. He wasnt a full time business man. His Legal practice was not more endowed than those of Gani fawehimin, Femi Falana etc, perhaps not even known to Nigerians. So how this did VP make his money. Can he provide evidence?

    • FreeNigeria

he’s one of the heartless politicians raping our wealth night and day. they are the scum of the society that have hijacked our country for their personal profit. They represent everything bad in humanity. Even the animal kingdom won’t accept the kinds of Nigerians politicians to survive, they best serve as meals to the others

      • Manuel Tobby

If osibanjo is a thief according to you then you also a criminal as an average Nigerian!! !
        What do you think?

        • emmanuel

Don’t be overly sentimental and unreasonable stuupid my friend. What that young man (@Fairgame) is demanding is evidence. Proof that VP Osinbanjo earned his income legally. Shouldn’t that be easy to do? Let him simply provide statement of his accounts for ALL businesses he has claimed to have run and Payslips for all paid employment within the period from 1981 – 2015. Let the facts drive the argument. We want figures. This is not rocket science. To assume that he is saintly and impeccable is criminal or perhaps pure madness – the same madness that lea. The same madness that drives millions of Nigerians to consider it normal that IBB, Abdulsalami and Obasanjo all live in HillTop mansions as retirement homes far beyond their legal earnings could explain. Where on earth did IBB & Abdulsalami get monies to invest billions of Niara in independent power projects? What Is the Salary of a General or President? It is brainless people like you my friend who make our Politicians bold. And is what make them filthy criminals. Imagine Dimeji Bankole is free. And Sanusi who was caught spending Tax Payer’s money on a mistress in an Ikoyi Hotel is King in Kano. And a man who lied about his Certificate is President. This Nigeria is worth less than a Zoo.

        • FreeNigeria

wrong, I don’t have access to the country’s money, neither am I average.

    • Manuel Tobby

If he’s bold enough to openly declared his Assets then your limited knowledge of his financial investment over the years won’t simply make him a thief as u are claiming.

Your GEJ never till today show you what he is worth!

    • Pete

I agree with you 100% But what will be the punishment for people who are already dead like Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola?

      • Black or White

        shut up

    • Sanssouci

It is called hypocrisy my friend, and it stinks to high heavens! the sad truth is that people shouting the loudest about corruption are not serious, their shouting is simply borne out of bitterness, hunger and frustration or simply being clever by half. Did u ever hear Babachir Lawal condemn corrupt PDP before he came to power? You would swear that he had personally taken a vow of poverty, but see what he ended up doing, imagine if he had been in Dasuki’s position ? Yesterday Sule Lamido was lambasted for saying that Buhari haven been a close aide to Abacha is poorly qualified to talk about fighting corruption. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t care for Sule Lamido one bit, I believe prison should be his abode for a very long time but was he really out of line? Even Osinbajo that you talked of was he not Tinubu’s aide? Naija Uni prof works as attorney gen of Lagos and becomes worth a couple of million dollars not bad at all, and this is what is officially declared. What we should have had in Naija was a sort of truth and reconciliation commission where we agree as a nation that we have all sinned and fallen, short then to forge ahead and forgive whatever happened in the past but that from now on certain things are no longer acceptable, then start implementing stuctural changes to curb corruption (e.g. your death penalty suggestion). Selectively targeting some people, besides being a form of corruption itself creates deep divisions in the society.

      • Thereisafuture

Good start, but is that reality in this country

    • AMRE ADMIN

Fairgame before you make any conclusion I would like you to research who osibanjo is married to…he declared his families joint assets

  • Konkolo

Please, when are we going to start executing all these ROGUES that has brought Nigeria to its knees?

  • Rommel

This was the only legacy of the PDP

  • Manaja

I think when they coined the expression “primitive acquisition of wealth” they had Nigerians in mind. If a mere commissioner can still N6billion then what will the president, governors, federal ministers, permanent secretaries, NASS members be stealing?!!

    • Otile

You are quite right. Think of what kind of wealth is in the coffers of Abacha, Babangida, Abdusalami, Bank-Ole, Tinubu, Buruji, Orji Kalu, Guyman Ohakim, Rotimi Amaechi, David Mark, T Danjuma, Nyako and sons, Oshiomholo, Turai & concubines, among others. Nigerian has been raped lame by the so called leaders.
