President Muhammadu Buhari resubmitted names of non-career ambassadorial nominees to the Senate on Thursday, two months after the legislature rejected his first list.

George Oguntade, a retired Supreme Court Judge, and Olorunmimbe Mamora, former Senator, are two of the well-known figures dropped by Mr. Buhari.

Also, Adegboyega Ogunwusi, an elder brother of the Ooni of Ife, Enitan Ogunwusi, was also dropped.

PREMIUM TIMES understands that the governors on the platform of the All Progressives Congress had last year complained that the earlier nominees were drawn from their respective states without consultations with them.

After Senate President Bukola Saraki read the new nominees on Thursday, Abuja Senator, Phillip Aduda thanked Mr. Buhari for nominating an indigene of Abuja this time.

Mr. Aduda protested the non-inclusion of any FCT indigene when the earlier was submitted to the Senate in October last year.

Can Buhari do anything right first attempt?

  • Romberg

Is there any reason why there are two nominees from northern states such as Borno, Kano, Zamfara, Adamawa, Plateau and Zamfara?

    • A Aminu

Check the list of career diplomats released last week, and ask again. Is there any reason why states like Edo, Delta, Anambra, Lagos, Enugu and Rivers should have two or more nominees, when there are so many career diplomats in the services of the ministry of external affairs.

  • RAPE on the NigerDELTA

There is massive poverty in the Niger Delta. There is nothing to show for the wealth of the region as monies from the region are used to develop Abuja and the rest of the country. The only benefit the oil producing and resource owners – Biafra and Niger Delta regions benefit from Nigeria are :
    – Pollution
    – Neglect
    – Violence
    – Military Occupation
    – Wanton arrest of its citizens
    – Harassment
    – Sponsored propaganda to defame
    – Bypass in political appointments
    – Hate, hate and more hate
    – Etc etc, etc

…yet, the parasitic regions (Vultures) that feast on the resources of the Niger Delta want it to remain part of Nigeria even as they care not about the many artificial problems that oil exploration has brought to the people –Health issues / Diseases arising from toxic pollutants. Buhari never borrowed to clean up the Niger Delta or rehabilitate the displaced farmers and fishermen. But he borrows to resettle those reportedly displaced by Islamic terrorists – a people (Terrorists) he claims must not be killed.

SECESSION is the only way for the Niger Delta and Biafran regions if they must achieve their potentials. Buhari can remain president of the rest of Nigeria and those of us who do not want to be associated with Nigeria in any way should be left alone to live our dreams and fly to our destination – have our own country. And this is what we must do. May God be with our freedom fighting comrades – the AVENGERS.

It’s seems you are ignorant of
      a. NDDC
      b. Ministry of Niger Delta
      c. 13%derivation
      d. Monthly Allocation from Federation Account
      e. The activities of Oil Companies
      f. The internally generated revenue
All of the above are supposed to make impacts on SS region and it’s people unfortunately reverse is the case.
The negative environmental impact should be overlooked on region please!

AVENGERS where are thou? Buhar’s govt is only interested in sharing oil resources and not clean up of the Niger Delta. Will the Flight tickets or minute percentage of the travel allowance of all these appointed so-called Ambassadors not be sufficient to clean up the pollution in the Niger Delta? People are dying of pollution by oil companies and govt turns the other way.

  • Adeosun

Why should this be news worthy?

  • Suparangy

Buhari this, Buhari that! Even if they occupy all ministerial, ambassadorial and federal appointments some of them will still complain. They keep bombing pipelines yet blame the government for the pollution they caused. Well, shit happens and life goes on. I rest my case.
