Buhari replies wife on cabinet hijack claim, says she belongs to my kitchen

Hajia Aishat Buhari, wife of General Muhammadu Buhari, Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress addresses the crowd at an interactive session with Edo women at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, on Thursday.

President Muhammadu Buhari has responded to a remark by his wife, Aisha, that his government has been hijacked by a cabal.

Mr. Buhari spoke in the German capital, Berlin, when he answered reporters’ questions.

“I don’t know which party my wife belongs to, but she belongs to my kitchen and my living room and the other room,” the Associated Press quoted the president as saying.

“So I claim superior knowledge over her and the rest of the opposition because in the end I have succeeded.

“It’s not easy to satisfy the whole Nigerian opposition parties or to participate in the government.”

Mrs. Buhari had said she might not back her husband’s re-election in 2019 unless he shakes up his cabinet.

In an interview with the BBC, Mrs. Buhari said the president “does not know” most of the top officials he appointed to office.

Mr. Buhari has not indicated whether or not he will seek re-election, and according to his wife, he has not told his family too.

“He is yet to tell me (if he’ll seek re-election) but I have decided as his wife, that if things continue like this up to 2019, I will not go out and campaign again and ask any woman to vote like I did before. I will never do it again,” she said.

The Nigerian leader is allowed by the constitution to seek re-election for a second term in office.

Should he seek re-election, he is expected to be the candidate to beat for his All Progressives Congress, APC, party; although he could be challenged by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar who lost to him in the 2014 primaries.

Mrs. Buhari also gave indication of something which has caused silent anger amongst some leaders of the APC.

She said some of the president’s appointees did not share the vision of his party and were appointed because of the influence of a “few people.”

“Some people are sitting down in their homes folding their arms only for them to be called to come and head an agency or a ministerial position,” she said.

Asked to name those who had hijacked the government, she refused, saying: “You will know them if you watch television.”

One name that has been repeatedly mentioned as having a strong influence in Mr. Buhari’s appointments is his cousin, Mamman Daura.

Mr. Daura, who holds no official position, is said to be the most powerful man in the presidency and is said to have Mr. Buhari’s ears.

There had been rumours within the Aso Villa of him having clashes with Mrs. Buhari over his influence on the president.

On whether the president was in charge of his administration, Mrs. Buhari said: “That is left for the people to decide.”

Mrs. Buhari’s decision to go public with her concerns may shock many people, but it shows the level of discontent with the president’s leadership, the BBC quotes its reporter Naziru Mikailu, as saying Abuja.

Speaking further on the appointments, Mrs. Buhari said, “The president does not know 45 out of 50, for example, of the people he appointed and I don’t know them either, despite being his wife of 27 years.”
She also mentioned the improvement of security in the north-east as her husband’s major achievement.

“No-one is complaining about being attacked in their own homes. Thankfully everyone can walk around freely, go to places of worship, etc. Even kids in Maiduguri have returned to schools,” Mrs. Buhari said.

What a ridiculous statement. I am really disappointed and embarrassed; it is a poor reflection on Nigeria and our society as whole. The idea that women belongs to the Kitchen, Living Room and Bedroom in 21st century shows you far behind Nigeria is in 21st century.

What PMB is saying is that the ultimate ambition of every girls and women in Nigeria is to end up in someone else kitchen. If this kind of thought is coming from the number 1 citizen in the country, how should we expect to get gender parity bill passed in National Assembly?

I would hope the press will hold Buhari accountable for his comment and push him further to clarify his statement. Also, I expect the media to press Buhari on his stand on Gender Parity Bill that has been languishing in National Assembly. Finally, i expect various women advocate to mount the necessary pressure on the president regarding the gender equality bill waiting in National Assembly. This is time for action. Otherwise our girls will be lost for life under this ridiculous “Belong to Kitchen Thought”

    • Broadway2

Forget about all that. His wife is his own. Marry your own.

      • Rosebud

So, by your warped reasoning, since Buhari is her husband he is her property? Just like the contaminated toothbrush you use every morning ba?

        • Broadway2

You are such a pity! Addressing someone you don’t know this way.

    • blueeyedkitten

he said his wife belongs to his kitchen, not your wife, not every woman. busy body feminist!

      • Otile

You sound like a chauvinistic Fulani Moslem. You don’t marry a woman to enslave her. Islam is an oppressive cult.

        • blueeyedkitten

what do morons like you know about islam? gerrarrahere mehnu!

          • Otile

Obviously you only know the ABC of Islam and nothing more. You can’t speak for Islam. Do you know what fatwa means? Moron.

      • emmanuel

The man has blocked his chances of collecting alms from Western Germany’s Angelina Michelle. Because the woman is a super-woman who knows that women ate not properties.
There is trully a cognitive problem somewhere, if not how can someone who went to beg money from a woman, bring down women tright before her?

        • Contact Point

She can keep her “alms” we do not care. I know Chancellor so she is not interested in your African tradition story. The woman who went out of her way, without consulting her husband and her image makers as well and said such things need not such protection you seek for her. I know you and you can not take such from your own wife saying dirty things in public about you, to the extend of trying to castigate you.

          • Charles

does two wrong make a right?

          • Rosebud

            You are so very pathetic!

          • emmanuel

When a man is taken hostage and the wife counsel’s him on impending doom, it get to a time the woman screams out.
The cabal is making the man turn Nigeria to Daura village affairs and the woman knows that this whole story may not end well for her family, so it is better she cries out loud so that well meaning Nigerians would help rescue the situation.
Yet maggots like you want the worst to come.

        • bala

NOT SO MAN. AISHA DESERVES THIS PERSONAL COUNSELLING FROM HER HUSBAND. IF IN YOUR SETTING THERE IS NO DECORUM ABOUT COMMENTS, THERE IS ABUNDANT IN MY HOUSE AND THE BUHARI INCLUDING ALL RESPONSIBLE HOMES. AMM VERY SURE ANGELA THE CHANCELLOR OF GERMANY WOULD NOT TOLERATE THIS TYPE OF COMMENTS BY AISHA FROM HER HUSBAND. FINISH

    • Watch man

“The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him …….. To the woman he said, “I will make your pains in childbearing very severe; with painful labor you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you” (‭‭Genesis‬ ‭2:18‬ ; 3:16, NIV‬‬).
Aisha’s desire should be “for” not against her husband, and her husband “will rule over” her and not the other way round. It is as simple as that. It is either you take what God said or you leav it. It is not subject of discussion. The hellish femininist doctrine dished out through the dead society of US and the West must not be allowed in Africa. Look at their campaign in US; everything is sex, sex, sex, rape, he touched me, he groped me and all those lewd and irresponsible nonsense talk. We don’t want that in Africa. My Peesident, thank you; you made me proud of you.

      • Rosebud

No! Her greater duty and love should be to God and country.

        • Watch man

“Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words” (John 14:23). So, you can see that her greater love to God means keeping His Word which includes my initial reference. That is is the divine position.

      • Iskacountryman

buhari sounds like a victim of domestic violence…

    • bala

this has got nothing to do with gender. Simple. This lady aisha actually belongs to the kitchen and bedroom if not do we have first lady/vice president in Nigeria? even Oshinbajo is not officially qualified to comment on the goings on in the daily activities of Buhari cabinet performances. Please give me a break. As a US citizen I have never heard or read in the history that a First lady made a press statement criticizing people in their husband cabinet. This is AWFUL. Aisha should be busy helping to provide motherly care to abused rescued kidnapped Cihbok girls, in fact she should function openly with her colleague wife of the vice-president in monitoring activities in the IDP camps all over the country. Thats enough portfolio to occupy her time including Buhari’s Kitchen and bedrooms. Shikena.

  • Otile

I can’t believe the president can say this about the First Lady in public. Mr Buhari where is your decency, where is your respect for your wife? Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.

    • bala

I also can’t believe Aisha who is a true muslim to come out and make a calculated attack on her husband role in governance. If she ever believe in her husband as a head of the family, simple dialogue with her husband on the issue could have put the problem to rest. Instead of offering the enemies and opposition elements the events her husband’s office cloak room as a fodder for political vendetta. Question! how many times has she ever heard a first lady in any part of the democratic world making such an careless statement their husband cabinet issues. NON thank you.

      • Rosebud

Why do you presume she hasn’t done that already to no effect? Aisha is a great woman driven by the greater love of God and country.

      • Iskacountryman

her husbands new friends have even barred her from entering the other room on the pretext that oga de rest…

  • S. A. Maigari

If PMB really believes that his wife’s role is in the kitchen, he shouldn’t have made her a politician and carried her along during his presidential campaigns in 2015. This woman campaigned vigorously for him and therefore has every right to assess the success or otherwise of the government.

    • o

you got it wrong!. it was Tinubu that asked Buhari to allow his wife to comeout to campaign, wear suits, tie etc.

      • Ogom

Irrelevant. The woman campaigned tirelessly for her husband in 2014/5. He wheeled her out to contrast against Mama Peace.

      • Iskacountryman

dat useless yariba man…see what he has done to northern nigeria…have you ever heard a northern housewife castigating the husband openly?…yaribas…yaribas are instigating domestic warfare against the north…wallahi..

        • Lt. Col. Mari-Am

allah you do not speak for the North at all.
Your knowledge of events in the North is questionable at best. Your accusation that the Yoros are instigating domestic warfare is irresponsible. APC was a Yoro idea even though the Yoros are not much benefiting from this current government at all.

          • Iskacountryman

            who ask you?

          • Sonan Colonel Mariam

Sharrraap. I have a conscience after all…nobody has to prod me to do what I consider morally right.

          • Iskacountryman

an eboe man with a conscience…that would be a first…what is the world turning into?

          • Iskacountryman

and your conscience leads you to say sharrap without thinking…

          • Pa Col .Mariam

exactly…the reason I have a conscience is that I am brutally honest..i say what I mean and mean what I say.. sharraaap!

          • Iskacountryman

            goodbye…buffoon..

  • blueeyedkitten

buhari said that joking and smiling. he primary responsibility is that of a home maker, and thats a massive role. if una like bring out the drums and sing feminism.

    • Otile

Don’t try to humanize Buhari, he is a sadist. Did he send any condolences to bereaved Igbo families whose loved ones were slain by Buratia?

      • Iskacountryman

which eboes were slained?…they committed suicide…

  • systematic

good mr president i like ur response, let her go back to her normal position simple

    • emmanuel

Bedroom and kitchen? Woman na property abi?

      • Iskacountryman

they have barred her from the bedroom in the interest of the north…

Where are the women right organisation to fight for Mrs Buhari. She deserves better from her husband and no she shouldn’t belong to the kitchen.

    • Contact Point

women right my foot. where are the men’s right organisation too? Or does it mean men does not have rights organisation as well? Tell the public how you treat your wife and we will respond to you. Are you from mars and not from Nigeria, Africa, a black man? Abeg make we hear word with your grandstanding

  • chris

    This is a sad comment.

  • Rosebud

Unbelievable! I’m shocked beyond words as a woman myself. I’m glad he said this from an international platform. Let the world judge, for Buhari just cast the first stone at his family. Those in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones at other people’s homes, Buhari just threw the first stone at his own house! So, may l ask Mr President, where do you belong? In the bedroom?

    • Rommel

Would you attack your husband in the market square?

      • Rosebud

        My husband knows better.

        • Rommel

I don’t have any problem with that neither does president Buhari but why do it in the market square, international media for that matter

          • Rosebud

Ok, you’d rather she told him in the kitchen to get her reply in the bedroom where l presume you think Buhari belongs? Is that it?

          • Rommel

The old man was joking, can’t you figure that out? are people not surprised that she can speak,is she no longer the wife of an Islamic fanatic? the man laughed before giving his answer and Angela Merkel looked at him and realised it was a joke and also laughed so what is it?

          • Iskacountryman

the man laughed…but the whole world is reading it..dummy…

          • Iskacountryman

rosey baby…the woman does not enter the bedroom anymore…i know these things…a woman does not shout outside when she is still in charge of the bedroom…

    • Iskacountryman

she was kicked out of their bedroom in the interest of the north…

  • kusanagi

Read this on a link on facebook. Thought it was a joke. Such a backwards comment. Buhari and his ilk are so old school you do wonder why the younger generation haven’t done more to elect their own.

Obviously all really is not well in their house hold. I’m sure they’re not even on talking terms.

  • Akamu Titus

Haha haha haha ! Good women listing very well u only belongs to our kitchen that all.

    • ‘ned

So you copied Iceman and copied his error in spelling ‘listen’ as ‘listing’.

  • emmanuel

Unfortunately, the man sef nor go know the road to visit him wife again, if not na technical suspension he don incur.

  • absam777

Aisha Buhari is first, a Nigerian and second the wife of the President. PMB was chauvinistically rude with his answer. I sincerely hope Aisha is groomed and made ready for 2019.

    • Charles

you are right, the international community will see it in the same light.

    • blueeyedkitten

she belongs to the kitchen! you no dey hear?

      • Rosebud

Ok, your mother belongs to the kitchen, and your father belongs where? Please do tell.

        • ‘ned

          It was a sarcastic statement.

      • Rosebud

Ok, your mother belongs to the kitchen, and your father belongs where? Please do tell.

  • Great Nigeria

That is my President, not a wimp control by his wife. We all know….. one mama piss that control everyone around her. Buharis is in charge, no shaking

    • Tori Osa

He said,”to my kitchen, my living room, and the OTHER room. I believe he should have been careful with words, but to me, this could mean “my wife should not get involved in the politics of the day” No need to be overtly sexist with this matter. She went beyond her limits in that interview. Period.

      • Akamu Titus

Women made for enjoyment not for the politics ! They have to stay in their limits.

      • Contact Point

Oyibo man, we all know each other plz, forget that u painting

      • Rosebud

And what limits may that be? The one set by an antiquated Oba of Benin a century ago or by the Olu of Warri from the bowels of a slave ship? Your 15th century village lynching is beneath belief.

      • Ogom

“My wife should not get involved in politics.. except when she was travelling the length and breath of Nigeria campaigning FOR ME in 2014/15”???

    • Ogom

      Buhari is NOT in charge.

2016 is almost over and he’s still looking to borrow to fund 2/3 of his budget. Buhari is a drowning man, posing in public.

      Pathetic. No one is fooled.

  • Olaruwaju

    Lol

  • Rommel

Any woman that attacks her husband in the market square deserves such a response

    • Sanssouci

Perhaps the private admonitions have failed? At any rate I don’t think its in PMB’s interest to totally disregard this outburst that clearly seems to come from her heart

      • FreeNigeria

If Buhari can completely disregard his wife’s frustration, what do you think he’s doing to the rest of the country? No wonder the country is on a free fall. Yet, Nigerians are supporting his ignorant response to his wife.

      • Rommel

So what does she want the man to do,appoint only people known to him?

        • Ogom

The people he appointed are not only unknown to him, but they are incompetent. Almost half his term gone and he has squandered all the goodwill that brought him to power in 2015.

THAT is the simple message his wife was trying to get through to him.

          • Rommel

Did you vote or supprt him?

          • Ogom

I gave money to Buhari’s campaign

          • Rommel

            Good for you

          • Ogom

            That’s it? “Good for you”?!

You’re not going to offer me a refund?!

          • John A

rommel brain cell are dead so he can’t understand you.

        • FreeNigeria

No, to appoint people that can move the country forward, not the brain dead people we have running it now. Is the Nigeria today the Nigeria you want for your children?

          • Rommel

That’s not what she is complaining, which of the president’s appointee is weak? at least his economic team

          • FreeNigeria

All of them are weak, that’s why the country is terrible. the people running the country are there for self enrichment. Nigeria belongs to all of us. let’s be truthful. This country is in trouble.

          • John A

did you properly read the news?
How can an retired ex military man be the head of Nigeria custom?
Is that not a wrong appointment?
what would the retired custom officials be doing?

          • Rommel

No it’s not,the man is capable, sometimes, you bring in outsiders to clean up mess in a department that has become used to wrong ways of doing things

          • John A

Stop defending this man, he is not a presidential material.

          • Rommel

            And was Jonathan presidential?

          • Otile

You are a lunatic, Jonthan is not the issue here. Respect yourself.

          • John A

Then why complain of the economy recession?
square peg in a round hole and you think that’s okay.

        • asittu

She wanted the head of president’s team to be her brother, but the president chose his nephew instead. The nephew is now very close to them and sees how they live behind the glamour, and is witnessing the woman has no respect for her hubby. The nephew in return ignores her feelings and makes top appointment decisions all by himself. She gets mad, and goes public. The president says “why get mad with me when you have a beautiful kitchen to work in.” The president should have expected that when he marries someone less than half his age. It’s only a matter of time.

    • FreeNigeria

She didn’t attack him, she’s echoing the cry of the people. What’s wrong for a woman to tell the truth? It’s 2016, not 16BC. He’s standing next to one of the most powerful women in the world and mouthing his wife. he just lost the little respect he had.

    • Otile

You are a sadist. The First Lady is one of the few intelligent human beings in Aso Rock. Leave her alone.

    • John A

You are a mad man, how will she not go public when your god buhari is deaf?

      • Rommel

I hope your wife if you have any does it to you too in public

        • John A

No she won’t, because she is a better half of me.
If a man refused to listen, then this what you get.
Buhari ego has gone to his head hence he sidetrack the view of his wife.
If you want to hear the truth ask your wife, if you have any.

If Aisha could insult her image-makers, her SAs on media and publicity, her husband, PMB and the office of the President and decided to play opposition and publicly castigated her husband, then i care not the response of PMB from far away Germany. What a careless talk by a woman who has retinue of aides to consult on decorum. Yes she may have said the truth or not, but not going through the protocol to understand what to say and not to say has equally made the response of Mr. President a perfect one.

  • olufalaenotcorrupt

Beautiful!. Buhari made this silly comment after meeting with german chancellor, one of the most powerful woman on earth. I hope she hear what her visitor said of his wife.

  • Last man standing

  • FreeNigeria

Aisha has been telling the brain dead, can’t hear Buhari abt the situation of the country in these locations, but he’s too daft to listen. Nigerians should take note of his response, That’s the same way he feels about our complain of the suffering in the country. Buhari just don’t care

    • Olaruwaju

Those she cares for her husband?

      • FreeNigeria

I know she cares about Nigeria.

  • Watch man

Aisha is a woman, married woman, the wife of Nigeria’s president. It is written, “The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone.

Aisha, your job as a married woman starts and ends in your husband. You can only get fulfillment by helping your husband and making sure he fulfills his vision and not running him down, especially before the press and the world. Now that you have done this you are not only exposing him to his enemies but also distracting him by your unguarded utterance. Your area of operation is in your husband’s house! Period! Don’t repeat this kind of outburst again. He is your husband and he is our president. Take note.

    • Ogom

      Justifying this BS with religion?
You are just exposing your own lazy mind

    • FreeNigeria

Cheiiiiiii, Nigeria is in trouble with mind like yours, no wonder our worthless politicians and wicked pastors are taking full advantage of the people. We need to educate the minds of Nigerians, fast and quick.

      • Watch man

I just pray you don’t live in Nigeria. It is people like you that are paid by agents of darkness to destroy families. Since what you want in your own house is “FreeNigeria” versus “HoldNigeria (your wife, if you have any)” may it remain your portion. I hail my President. He is a genuine man!

        • FreeNigeria

You need to come out from that village you’re in, This woman should be celebrated for boldly telling the truth to her husband about the suffering in the country. if the other women are telling their husbands the same truth, Nigeria will be better than USA right now. Instead, people like you are celebrating the daft remark from a brain dead man.

          • Watch man

Be honest, suppose your wife goes to the press to castigate your effort in the home (assuming you are married), tell me how you will feel? Be honest to yourself! Aisha has all the right to tell her husband anything she likes in their bedroom and not in the press. She is not the president for goodness sake. She is the very beautiful creature that God has placed by PMB to help him succeed. It is immature and smacks of a divided house for her to ridicule her husband in the public. Do you understand?

          • FreeNigeria

let’s assume she’s talked to him over and over, of course he’s deaf and won’t listen. Again, she’s a Nigerian and has a stake in the country. Which gives her every right to express her frustrations, like most of us. our country is in trouble, we just want the right people in the right places to move the country forward, even if they are from Mars. let’s encourage this woman, so more like her can come out to stop these crazy men running the country down. Aisha courage to speak the truth should be celebrated, not criticized.

Listen, I do not like everything PMB does. But Aisha is his wife. There are channels of communication and resolution. One day PMB will no longer be in govt and Aisha will no longer be the First Lady. At that time, they would still need to live together. If today you are Nigeria’s president and your wife goes to the press with such an outburst, dear, honestly tell me how you will feel. Please be honest!

          • FreeNigeria

I will truly listen to her and know she’s echoing the general sentiment. i’ll be very scared and make those changes quickly

          • Watch man

Beautiful! If that is the way you have chosen to respond no problem but what I subscribe to is the divine order and that is what I propagate. It is up to my readers or hearers to buy into it or not. For me, if Aisha talks it over with her husband and he fails to listen, she can go look for a very close ally of the husband and appeal to him to help. If he fails to listen, she can still involve a few close relations or even their spiritual leader. Any home that either partner runs the other down will not stand. We are human beings with flesh and blood. Men want respect and submission from their wives while women want love and provision from their husbands. Division, acerbity and temperamental outburst destroys those longings.

          • FreeNigeria

This is more than a home, she’s not talking about marital dispute, she’s complaining of a national issue. Buhari is the president of Nigeria today, who happens to be Aisha husband. Aisha is telling her husband to do his job, be a president, a good one. What’s wrong with that? We Need more Aishas in Nigeria. better yet, AISHA FOR PRESIDENT! AISHA FOR PRESIDENT!! AISHA FOR PRESIDENT!!!

          • Watch man

The wife of Governor Pilate told her husband to pardon Jesus based on her dream the night before. She did not do it before the Sanhedrin. Unfortunately her husband did not listen; instead he handed Him over for crucifixion. I am only advocating that Aisha should tow the same line. Yes, PMB is our president but he is her husband and bound to remain so after his tenure. Like I said, I do not like everything PMB does. If he receives bashing from us the public, I doubt if Aisha’s outburst is what he desires. I have never seen Mitchel attack Obama publicly despite the fact that there are more unemployed people under Obama’s watch, despite the Obamacare that has failed to address the health need of the common man. A woman wins a man always by good relationship/submission and not by attacking the man’s weakness in the public.

  • James Ojapa

President buhari has just TRUMPED Aisha!

    • Ogom

      He has trumped HIMSELF

  • Watch man

Angela Merkel, the host of PMB, hope you heard your guest? It is only in the decadent western world where the hellish doctrine of femininism has taken root; nobody cares again about what the Creator’s manual said concerning woman. PMB’s response is one of the best expected from genuine men. My president, thank you for that truthful but blunt remark. You have upheld the great value of Africa which has nothing to do with the irresponsible West. Thank you Mr President.

    • Ogom

Retarded remark. Backward and self sabotaging

      • Watch man

You are the one that is not only retarded but reasons like a mule. It is people like you that should be confined in that hell called US where everything called morality is dead. You are a gargantuan koun!

        • Ogom

Watch night, shut your backward local mouth!

          • Watch man

Your write up suggests you must be a night soul man. No wonder you so full of it!

          • Ogom

Night ‘soil’ man, like your father?

          • Watch man

            So you are angry? Haahahahahahaha!

          • Ogom

At you, no. I know you just speak from the shallowness of you education and upbringing.

            It’s not your fault.

          • Watch man

Hahahaha! Thank you! The important thing is that you have read my gospel. Call it whatever you like, that is your own cup of whatever. Bye!

          • Ogom

It’s not “gospel”, it’s gibberish. Shameless person

    • John A

Your are an extremely sick man, an animal reason better than you.
How can we grow with people like your type in Nigeria?
You should be ashamed of your foolishness.

      • Watch man

Thank you! Are you happy now? Ok!

    • Rosebud

His was to denigrated all women, myself included and the towering lady that was seated besides him when he made that unfortunate gaff.

      • Watch man

Oh, you are a woman? Now listen: if you are married your divine assignment is simple,”And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him” (Gen.2:18). The root word from which “help meet” is derived is ‘azar’ and it means ‘to surround, protect, aid’. That is the divine assignment God gave to woman – to surround (like a fence), protect and aid. Most men are a failure because their wife faile to be a fence to them, a protection to them and an aid to them. Now, in what way did Aisha’s outburst fulfill this mandate?

        • Ogom

Rubbish. Quoting bible like some madman preaching on a bus.

          Disturbing the peace.

        • Ceejay Iloelunachi

You didnt say all this @Watchman when the first lady was going round the whole country campaigning for her husband now, you want her to be ring-fenced for voicing her frustrations? So women shouldn’t have or form independent opinions? Hmmmm

  • Gary

By publicly putting his own wife down in Germany, Angela Merkel and other world leaders now know that Nigerians are led by a Neanderthal who has very little regard for women or their opinions on public issues.

That’s the same guy visiting Berlin to beg for aid from a country led by a woman. Illiteracy na bad thing o.

    • Sean

Your comment has shown you’re the Neanderthal you referred to.. Why? Because you’re thinking backwards! BUHARI was responding to a question asked by a Nigerian correspondent not a German, the presidents comment was bout his country and culture

      • Ogom

That is HIS culture, not his country’s.

        • Sean

Buharis culture is our culture as the prime representative of the country else go sit Merkel down and explain the ethnic makeup of Nigeria!!

      • John A

Stop defending a man that has lost his way, buhari is beyond redemption due to his age.

      • FreeNigeria

His response showed he’s clearly out of touch with reality.

      • Rosebud

So? The country was Germany and the platform international!

    • John A

Buhari is another Donald Trump of Africa, people who think their influence and money can make them gets away with whatever crime they commits.

    • Rosebud

      My brother!

  • Watch man

“”The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone.
My Peesident, thank you; you made me proud of you!

    • Rosebud

Again, l will tell you as l told you below; her greater duty should be to God and country and not to mere follies of the flesh. Buhari is fallible and not perfect.

      • Watch man

Read my reference again and gently before you respond.

        • Rosebud

My dear, you cannot turn the bible on me. You advocate that women should worship their husbands as if they are gods and infallible. Well, l have news for you, it’s woman that brought man into this world. She nutured and raised all men, not to worship the fruits of her womb but that they may bring some value into the world we all share. Woman, is the mother to man without which man will not exist. Hers are the fingers that fed him and rocked his cradle. Do you get to bite the fingers that fed you?

          • Watch man

Now listen: if you are married your divine assignment is simple,”And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him” (Gen.2:18). • Rosebud

In every way conceivable. Do you seriously believe that all you just said implies blind followership? By your reasoning the wife should stand by her husband even if he’s a thief and murderer? Indeed, and l suppose you will soon insist that she must stand besides him and get shot for a crime she was not part of. Next, you’ll tell us women must be buried with their husbands so as to tend to them in the hereafter. Oh! Your daughter must think you’re a real prince! Aisha’s primary duty is to tell her husband the truth, and by it protect and shield him from the negative while aiding him unto the path of righteousness. Deal with it!

          • Watch man

Beautiful! She should not do that in the press. Is that how you relate with your husband?

    • Francis Aiterebhe

Before you quote the Bible, understand the context. This was a prophecy, not a command; and it came to pass because of the sin in the garden of Eden. It was not God’s original plan for women to be subservient to men. His original plan was for woman to be a helpmate to man. I other words she is to complement man, not to serve him.

      • Watch man

The word “helpmate” is not in the Bible. What is there is “help meet”. It is written, “And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him” (Gen.2:18). The root word from which “help meet” is derived is ‘azar’ and it means ‘to surround, protect, aid’. That is the divine assignment God gave to woman – to surround (like a fence), protect and aid. Why do turn the Bible upside down by missing blessing with curse? I guess you are a cultist.

      • Watch man

If you are a Bible student you will understand that the original mandate from God to woman is Gen.2:18. When she fell, God pronounced what we now have in Gen.3:16. So what is your point?

    • West

That is why black human being like you will forever remain backward while others are busy developing in geometric progresson. Even those who dumped the religion you are quoting from has since moved on and had modified their orientation to conform with the reality of life. Mr. President, this lady is your wife for 27 years. She is not looking for any benefits to derive from your administration rather, she wants you to succeed. Please, listen to her and consider carefully her pieces of advice regarding the way you are running the country. At the end of the day, those people appointed to positions of power including your cousin will desert you if things go bad. I am sure this lady would certainly stand by you in that I can see that she is bold and courageous. Do not discountenance the opinion of your wife. A word is enough for the wise. May God guide you.

Well said, Mr. president. We voted for you and not for your wife. All those europeans- wanna- be can pack up and head to Europe or America. Here in Africa, the man provides for his family while the wife takes care of the family at home. Even more so as a muslim. PMB has provided very well for his family. Mrs. Buhari should take care of the home front and shaaaraap!

What is the difference between Donald Thrump and Buhari? Well, I know Donald passed his WAEC exams and Buhari failed woefully, so don’t tell me that. Tell me something else you feel is different?

I never thought that Buhari would say such a ugly things, but I have just found out on other websites that the Neanderthal man actually said it, standing next to the German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

SHOCK! Nigerians, is this who you elected to be your president? The man is a first-class mørøn; no wonder he is grossly incompetent. This comment is being made at a time when everyone is hammering Donald Trump for dissing women. Obviously, this a first-class mørøn has been living in the cave hence he is unaware of the Trump controversies and the attacks Trump is getting across the world. Shocking indeed!

Is it not time we started examining African presidents for substance abuse? The way this man covers up his eyes with dark glasses is suspect. Except for Kenyatta who has natural red eyes all others are suspects.

  • Akiika

The president’s response is sexist, but majority of Nigerians are mumu, they are carried away that Aisha criticized the man they love to hate. The woman’s place is not in the kitchen, bedroom or living room. It is also not worthy of a woman to throw her man under the bus. Ridiculous!

    • FreeNigeria

She’s just echoing the sentiment of the general population. She’s a mother and knows mothers are finding it very hard to feed their children in Today’s Nigeria. What’s wrong to speak the truth? She should have thrown him under the caterpillar

    • Kay Soyemi (Esq.)

On the contrary, I believe PMB took the route of humour to deflect what is an embarrassing position as Mr. President.

There was no way he could stoke the fire or validate her words in the public domain. If you’d read his response carefully, the clincher is in the words “other room”. Meaning, they’ll resolve the matter privately. Any other response is a weapon/ ammunition for the opposition.

Personally, I like Mrs. Buhari’s frankness and his response.

      • absam777

When a woman voices her opinion in public, it must be that her private one is being ignored. Aisha has exercised her fundamental human right as a Nigerian to speak out. The president should have respected that and not make an impolite joke in a pro-women western world. He has himself to blame for the backlash over his wife’s candid statement..

      • Otile

In other words you are part arsonist, part firefighter. You are for both sides. Tactics bruv, tactics.

      • Gary

I’m sure you would…since you are of the same chauvinist mindset as 99.95% of African men. Obama was just saying this morning what he’s been say for long that he married a woman smarter than him so as to raise the gene pool of intelligence in his kids. That’s one national leader paying his wife the ultimate compliment while you Nigerian bushmen, including your president, openly insult your wives in public.
Ignoramus stupendous – in the words of Chief Eleyinmi of Village Headmaster fame. My sincere apologies to Aisha and our women, on behalf of the bushman she married.

Isn’t this what we have been saying all along? If anyone is in doubt as to why northern Nigeria remains the way it is, so backward and full oppression, Buhari’s misogyny points to the fact that women are not considered relevant members of society in that part of the world. • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

That is not true, that was an old ritual performed in the olden times when a man mostly of the polygamous type has been poisoned by one of the wives and often it was designed to obtain a confession from the wife who did the poisoning and was not carried out, since in most cases, the culprit would confess. This was not even in practice in the 20th century what more now.

He and his incompetent CBN governor have taken Nigeria into an avoidable recession and by the looks of things is impervious to advice.

What then is the work of a Finance minister? You are a dummy to say that her Ministry of Finance has no impact on the Nigerian economy. Remember how many times you’ve insulted Dr Iweala. Are you now saying that your insults are borne out of hatred or bigotry? Odale

          • Dele Awogbeoba

Again, find out who the Budget office reports to under Buhari and compare it to who the Budget office reported to under GEJ. Then find out the job of the Budget office. Then you will have answered your own question.

      • Mufu Ola

Ngozi was the most incompetence. She served under OBJ & Jona with combined revenue of about 80trillon in the kitty. How the “superstar” manage those funds?

  • August January

Proud of President Buhari! His wife wants more say in running Nigeria, which she’s not getting, because the President won’t allow her to become another Patience, who became more powerful than Jonathan. We elected President Buhari, not his wife! President Buhari has got to work with so many people his wife doesn’t know, because running Nigeria is not a family or wife-husband affair, and, more importantly, APC is a coalition of many parties. And that much Mrs Buhari must accept and learn to live with. I think the privilege of being called Her Excellency is what is making her to feel she must be consulted in making appointments and in running the government!!!

    • thusspokez

Proud of President Buhari! His wife wants more say in running Nigeria, which she’s not getting

Nonsense. This is a feeble excuse. What could Buhari do to his wife if she started acting like Turai Yar’Adua or Patience Jonathan?

Buhari is feeble: his party is in disarray because he is weak; he has no control over large number of people he appointed. Many are involved in corruption and some have even been exposed by investigative journalists, but what has he been able to doe? Nothing! So tell me what he could do if Aisha decided to go rogue e.g., do a ‘Patience Jonathan’? Would he put her in chains? I don’t think, he has the guts.

    • James Ojapa

The woman sense of judgement is very poor. Go to kogi and see the poor quality governor she single handedly imposed and she want to make more appointments on the federal level so she can finish Nigeria

  • PLAN A

This my President sef! The man belongs to the past. I cannot imagine that the President flanked by the German Chancellor and responding to a question asked by a female journalist, would say his wife’s place is in the Kitchen. Buhari seems to be worse than Patience Jonathan! His inability to respond objectively and artuculately when pushed to the wall is to say the least appalling! This comment by the President should not be taken lightly. It is sexist and a reflection of the President’s perception of not just his wife but every woman globally.

Around 50% of Nigeria’s population are women. They DO NOT all belong in the kitchen!

This is not an appropriate way for a President to speak to a woman, a wife and a first lady.

Young girls are listening and this is not an appropriate message for young girls.

No matter the provocation, Presidents DO NOT SPEAK THIS WAY.

    Big F9 for Mr. President.

…. But the same young girls should understand how not to castigate their husbands in public.

        • Ikechukwu_67

Lol!! You’re here with your rants. I have seen your Hillary’s hands all over. You obviously supported Aisha’s rants against her hubby’s government but Buhari’s reply is the one that you must attack.

          Clap for yourself…

      • ronke benedict

She was asked her opinion, and she gave it. You should rather have said, that Buhari and his wife should communicate on the importance of a united front rather than suggest that she shouldn’t air her views. i truly despair of nigerian men. The first lady has just proven that Buhari’s lack of communication extends to his home, or rather, the other room.

        • Ikechukwu_67

Oook!! She is allowed to air her opinion against her hubby’s government but the hubby’s opinion should not the enjoy same advantage. I get your thoughts..

If she didn’t say this, we wouldn’t be having the conversation.

    • Mai Tabargaza

Come to think of it, no woman, no wife and no first lady worthy of herself would do what Aisha did in the way she did and where she did it. She has betrayed a conjugal trust, demeaned the father of her children and ridiculed the Nigetian Presidency.

Indeed Sir you are right. Aisha made statements that were better handled with more wisdom and greater discretion.

But same standard applies to our President. To have made that statement on the International stage, standing beside a female world leader was inappropriate.

Leaders must subject themselves to standards far above the ordinary. That is one of the responsibilities that come with such exulted positions.

There are many ways President Buhari could have handled the situation without making the statement where he did and how he did. That much we must agree on, irrespective of Aisha’s provocation.

      • Sir Louis

        Liar.

      • James Ojapa

You have spoken well.I laugh at the emptiness of the people who think aisha is fighting for the masses. That interview was just a furtherance of her power tussle with mamman daura- a close confidant of the buhari family for years. If she wants to fight for the masses she should sell that million naira Hermes bag she carrieid to America and juynfood the millions of peope she and her husband have thrown into hunger

And in saying so, he has also invited Nigerian men to downgrade their wives. What manner of man is this? I can only imagine the insult Aisha gets behind closed doors. I suspect that she was frustrated because of his “deafness” and had to speak to the BBC. What a shame!

  • Ikechukwu_67

I understand her frustrations. Buhari didn’t allow Aisha to be a Patience Jonathan or a Turai Yaradua so I can understand where she’s coming from. ..

Unfortunately I am compelled to comment on this matter due to its public exposition. It is wrong that the First Lady did what she did, in the manner she did. She has done what no enemy of Mai Gaskiya has been able to do for almost 2 years: land a blow. Her pubic utterance has EMBOLDENED known thieves and looters (See Saraki’s earlier tweet on the matter) , see earlier comments from certified Nigeriaphobes on this same thread(when seditionists such as @Otile is supporting the First Lady, it implies that enemies of our fatherland are happy with the ‘own goal’. But I am confident, that this imbroglio like all things, will pass. Territorial rivalries/intrigues within the walls of Aso Rock as public fodder is not a welcomed development in any Government . The President’s response from Berlin was unfortunate, but he is human. His response is proof that he needs better people working for him. But let there be no doubt, to the Enemies of the Nigerian State, and all those who fervently desire to send the people’s President on a premature retirement back to Daura, there is one ABSOLUTE with the Nigerian masses; NEVER AGAIN WILL WE ELECT KNOWN THIEVES & LOOTERS to the most important office in the land. So far as we can discern Mai Gaskiya is the only known person in our political landscape who passes this most Pan-Nigerian of patriotic test. I have but one request; if you dispute the supposition, please name the actor in our current political space who passes this test, and could replace the incumbent.

    • Gary

Firstly, you might want to edit your post to spell “public” right, there’s an L missing!
To answer your question, I am eminently qualified for the presidency as are millions of competent, well educated Nigerians with integrity.
So stop the self-serving myth that a semi-illiterate coup plotter his 70s is the only qualified person for the office.
Where were you when the likes of Pat Utomi, Dele Momodu, Gani Fawehinni and Gamaliel Onosode offered themselves for the office before the latter died?

Has Nigeria ever lacked qualified candidates or people who prefer to be led like sheep have ethnic champions pick nominees for them? Was Buhari the best qualified candidate for the APC or the pre-selected choice of party leaders based on ethnic and sectarian calculations?

      • Sword of Damocles

Thank you for your correction, my laptop is old and so some of the keys are stuck. Of the two living actors you mentioned, NONE of them passes the test (my subjective opinion). What you label a “self-serving myth”, i call a fact. “I am eminently qualified for the presidency” , this indeed might be the case, but it remains your opinion of your capabilities(have you served your local community in any capacity?). The answer to your last sentence is YES(because he passes the aforementioned test), and YES(presidential politics in Nigeria is STILL “based on ethnic and sectarian calculations”)

        • Decimator

and YES(presidential politics in Nigeria is STILL “based on ethnic and sectarian calculations”)

So where then is the highly acclaimed national Unity? It simply does not exist. Entrust the constituting parts of the Nation with their own destiny and if nothing else ,ethnic politics will no more be neccesary. Thanks

          • Sword of Damocles

            I respectfully disagree

    • thusspokez

Her pubic utterance has EMBOLDENED known thieves and looters

So you don’t want her to speak out about her concern for her country for fear that it might embolden or offend people unbeknown to her?

Well I wonder if you applied the same rule to yourself before posting your comment here, i.e., that it might offend some people unbeknown to you. Indeed, if we all apply your rule to ourselves, there wouldn’t be much left to say. But Aisha did; and she is a patriot, i.e., one who believes in her country and that her country come first. So what is your problem? BTW name calling is not an argument but a distraction.

      • Sword of Damocles

Well sir, she is the wife of the President, and i am of the opinion that any “speaking out about her concern for her country” need not be done in public. It appears that you believe that this is normal conduct for First Ladies? Have you ever observed this such conduct from a First Lady against her spouse?

“Well I wonder if you applied the same rule to yourself before posting your comment here, i.e., that it might offend some people unbeknown to you.”

Am I a public person? So how is your comparison valid?

“BTW name calling is not an argument but a distraction”

So i take it take it that referring to Saraki as a THIEF and an Enemy of the Nigerian State is name calling, and offensive to you? Let me tell you what is truly offensive, it is people who are entrusted with the leadership of the country, and are only concerned with TAKING. You asked what is my problem ?Well that’s it in a nuthshell

        • thusspokez

It appears that you believe that this is normal conduct for First Ladies? Have you ever observed this such conduct from a First Lady against her spouse?

Many modern first ladies have Facebook and twitter accounts — welcome to the 21st century! Besides, they also frequently brief the media openly or through third parties or friends. Just because, you are unaware of this liberation, doesn’t mean it doesn’t take place or it is abnormal. It is true however true that in most most cases, many would just stand by their men.

Nations are bigger than individuals, and if you believe this truism, them whatever loyalty you have for anyone else becomes secondary. To Aisha, her country comes first before her loyalty to her husband. With such high and superior ideals, shouldn’t people be commending her instead of castigating her?

Let me tell you what is truly offensive, it is people who are entrusted with the leadership of the country, and are only concerned with TAKING

This is what is vexing Aisha too. So, you both agree on these issues after all. It therefore doesn’t make sense that you should be critical of her for saying things which you agree with her.

          • Sword of Damocles

“Many modern first ladies have Facebook and twitter accounts — welcome to the 21st century! ”

Friend, it appears you have a problem with CONTEXT and proper comparisons. How does upbraiding your spouse(who happens to be President ) in public, compare to “Many modern first ladies having Facebook and twitter accounts” ? It is true that “Nations are bigger than individuals”, however my perceived loyalty to the President is predicated upon his continued servitude to the masses. Remember them? Yes this is what this whole game is about for me personally. IMHO, he ONLY amongst the political hoard is worthy of that trust.

Your last sentence, suggests that you have been afflicted by ailment referred to as ‘moral relativity’

          • thusspokez

…you have a problem with CONTEXT and proper comparisons. How does upbraiding your spouse(who happens to be President ) in public…

I hate breaking down my comment for easier understanding, but let me try: My response addressed the following:

“and i am of the opinion that any “speaking out about her concern for her country” need not be done in public”

Put another way, many modern first ladies speak to the public but mainly by Facebook and twitter. I hope that I have been understood.

however my perceived loyalty to the President is predicated upon his continued servitude to the masses.

At the risk of repeating myself, is this not what Mrs Buhari is complaining about? How can the government function properly and serve the masses effectively if the party has many factions and disunited, or the people appointed by her husband have loyalty not to him but various factions in the party?

I feel that you had not done your homework as to what she had said in the aforementioned interview before rushing to condemn her. Or perhaps there is some other hidden reason(s) other then what she had said. Maybe, you think that women should shut up and stand by their men. Well speak for yourself and your taste in women. Such women would indeed offend my own taste. Indeed, ever since Aisha gave her interview, she has gone up in my estimation of attractive ladies — just to bore you with the kind of women that I like.

…you have been afflicted by ailment referred to as ‘moral relativity’

Someone says that the sky is blue; you agree, but nevertheless criticises them for saying what you both agree. I am a bystander, and on the issue that you are criticising Aisha, you share the same morality. If anything, this is the opposite of moral relativity.

          • Sword of Damocles

And I, sir loathe weasley conduct , So I will elucidate further. Simple question; Has any of the “modern first ladies” you speak about used ANY medium be it “social” or “digital” to publicly upbraid their spouse (who happens to be President). C-O-N-T-E-X-T, a word which, surprisingly seems alien to you. . Answer: NO! So what on God’s green earth are you going on about?

“is this not what Mrs Buhari is complaining about?”…….PUBLICLY !

Is there some mental block that compels you to disregard the word “publicly” every time your brain processes it?

Your idea of ‘serving the masses’ and mine are OCEANS APART

My God, this is like “pulling teeth”.

Sir with all due respect, if you are going to engage me in substantial political discourse, cognition is a requisite.

The comment is spreading fast on the Internet. Just yesterday, google search of “she belongs to my kitchen and my living room” returned only 3640 references. It is currently, 18,900 references. This includes:

            Huffingtonpost
            BBC
            Sky news

            Cosmopolitan
            NYTimes, etc.

          • Sword of Damocles

            Jealous much?

          • thusspokez

Has any of the “modern first ladies” you speak about used ANY medium be it “social” or “digital” to publicly upbraid their spouse

I will start by saying: so what if Aisha is the first? But she is not! Before the Internet age, there were:

            1. Danielle Gouze, François Mitterrand’s wife;
            2. Raisa Gorbacheva, Mikhail Gorbachev’s wife
            3. Barbara Bush, wife of George H. W. Bush

            In modern times, there were:
            1. Laura Bush, wife of George H. W. Bush
            2. Cécilia Attias, former wife of Nicolas Sarkozy

Wives openly being critical of their head of state husbands and their policies is nothing new in the history of mankind. I, therefore can’t understand why anyone would claim that Aisha started this trend or why anyone would be surprised by it.

The only surprise is Buhari’s immature reaction to his wife’s comments. Usually, when asked about their wives’ outspokenness, the husbands would often be light-hearted about it and even say one or two nice words about their wives.

“is this not what Mrs Buhari is complaining about?”…….PUBLICLY !

Yes PUBLICLY! What are Facebook and twitter, if not public channel of communication — which modern first-ladies use to communicate with the PUBLIC — including criticise their husband’ policies, and those who work for him?

Sir with all due respect, if you are going to engage me in substantial political discourse, cognition is a requisite.

You will find that I rely on my intellect and logic — not insults — to win arguments.

          • Sword of Damocles

You named a total of 5 possible First Ladies. Of the 5, #two thru five are PATENTLY FALSE. i have done any research, so there is some probability that “Danielle Gouze” spoke out about President Mitterand”s policy while remained First Lady of France, however Mrs Gorbarchev NEVER publicly spoke out against her husband from the time he became GENSEC of the communist party in 1985 until the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 (FACT). Same goes Barbara Bush, wife of George H. W. Bush(from January 1981 – January 1989 (wife to the VP) and January 1989- January1993(First Lady), another FACT.. Or Laura Bush (actually wife of George W Bush, not George H. W. Bush), from January 2001 to 2009). SHE NEVER PUBLICLY UPBRAIDED her husband’s policies. As for Cécilia Attias, the title you appended to her says it all. Come again?

          • thusspokez

So you want to tell me that in 7 hours, you have researched all the speeches and interviews given by these former first ladies, not to mention their their biographies, autobiographies, newspaper articles written by them. Buhari needs a crash course on diplomacy. I find it concerning that 18mths into his presidency he has not been taught how to communicate in a manner worthy of his position. He should reserve his straight talk to his home not when he is on world’s stage. He should have known he will be asked questions about his wife’s comment and would have had a civilized answer that will not show him up as an ignorant sexist person he’s shown himself to be.

  • Abate Dokpu

Let it be known to our retrogressive president that no woman belongs to the kitchen and the bedroom in this age and time. Certainly not our daughters. This statement implies that women are maids and sex slaves to their husbands. This is most unpresidential especially when it is spoken in a country that is led by a woman. I wonder how Buhari can engage the prime ministers of Britain and Germany and President Hillary Clinton, if she wins the election to become the president of the United States. And let no one tell me that Buhari’s retrogressive ideas are rooted in Islam because they are not. Afterall, Pakistan, a 97% Muslim country, elected a female prime minister, Benazir Bhutto, many many years ago. Buhari has brought odium to our country. Women, and indeed all Nigerians, deserve any apology.

But the Pakistanis muslims could not stomach a woman ruling them, so the slaughtered her. That woman was indeed a leader who had beauty, brain and courage.

I just hope Buharia does not beat the crap out his wife when he gets home. He like others is a violent man. Who will lock him up for assaulting that beautiful woman?

  • Naza Okpoku

PMB’s response to his wife is highly inappropriate and casts him and Nigeria, in having someone who reasons and speaks like this (in jest or not) as President in the 21st century, in a a very negative light. It is a misogynist comment that insults and demeans not just his wife but Nigerian women. That he made it beside a woman who is the elected leader of the most powerful country in Europe makes it even more unfortunate. Obviously that irony was lost on him. Pity.

    • Truthometer

Sai Baba! Expensive joke! Aisha should padlock her “down below”, until Baba change his ways. I’m with Aisha on this!

@ Truthometer, bottom power no go work on Baba like it did during IBB, Abacha, OBJ, Yaradua and GEJ o. Aunty Aisha should wake up from her slumber cos change has come to Naija, including Aso Rock. Gone are the days where first ladies rule the country from 9pm to 9am daily.

  • PARASITES_in_Power

It is evident that the people listening to this illiterate woman called Aisha are 100% beggars – all the immigrant beggars of Northern Nigerian extraction who are hustling in Benin City as well as all the Ram & Sheep sellers and all Okada Riders from the North are the ones in the audience…And the crowd is actually made up of more children (Some visibly below 10yrs of age) and teenagers. This is not surprising, Why would the educated Benin public waste their time to listen to such a woman who grapevine has it lied about acquiring a degree when in actual fact rumours has it that she only has an unverifiable roadside Diploma. And all of a sudden the proprietor of a local Hair Salon has begun to wear expensive wrist watches which costs $35,000 and hand bags worth thousands of Dollars…and Nigerians are looking like Lucozade.

The problem Buhari and his wife has is the poor education they have. Otherwise, they would have known that there are more relevant issues to the Nigerian public than this irritating public exchange of theirs.

For those of us who are not Nigerians and abhor everything Nigeria, we are only just waiting for the appropriate time to declare our sovereign Niger Delta Country where excellence shall prevail unlike the present Nigeria where mumudity and incompetence is exalted over excellence on the banal basis of ethnic affiliation.

    • Simeon Nigel

I for one do not agree to your worthless comment here about our national Daddy President Muhammadu Buhari and his wife, Her excellency Aisha M. Buhari. Both of them have had good education. President M.Buhari, it was him who first started war against in-discipline in 1983 – 1985 year when Major General Muhammadu Buhari was the military strongest man and head of state. And during that time Buhari fought against Alhaji Shehu Shagari, Presidential highly corrupted administration in 1979 -1983, and Buhari never stolen a dime from Federal Government treasury when he was a military most strongman at that time as he can do and undo at his own bacon & call but instead he tried to bring out the whole Nigeria nation to a proper shape, but he was cut-short by the most corrupted and thieving and evil General Babangida of 1985-1994 military regime that turns the whole Nigeria upside down, whose worse outcomes today which every Nigerian is witnessing in form of the worse kind of economic recession and terrible social vices affecting everybody. In Niger-Delta region was heavily damaged by oil spills due to uncaring and corrupted regime of the same General Babangida. Besides, many natives of diatribes paramount traditional chiefs and rulers in the Niger-Delta contributed to the huge problems facing the entire people of the whole Niger-Delta, because of the corrupts nature most of them kept all Federal Government allocations earmarked for all of Niger-Delta. Your idea of education does not hold water one bit because, the educated elites from Niger-Delta were highly very selfish and potently so deeply greedy that all multi-billions naira and people freedily projects that were poured into Niger-Delta over the past years were all shiponed into private pockets by these Niger-Delta educational elites. So, what is the point having education but cannot exhibits a good learned characteristic to humanity to others which are less or low within the whole society in Niger-Delta?

You are not a Nigerian yet you are here crying more than the bereaved. I think you need to go for urgent psychiatric test. Something definitely is missing upstairs!

PMB please take a critical look at all your appointments. The appointments have caused much disappointment and alienation and is partly the reason why the government is not making headway. It needs to be more representative and should be loaded with those who worked for your victory. Aisha has raised serious issues. The issues cannot be dismissed as trivia or turned into a laughing matter. The government can still be salvaged if you take her advise.

Something has definitely gone wrong….this interview is not adding
up.When the falcon doesn’t hear the falconer, then the falcon has gone
and gone for good. The gap in PMB’s government is widening, the center is
    no longer holding….yes,Achebe said it…”Things Fall Apart”…just
like the Putin marriage,Aisha’s has has said again, things are “No Longer
At Ease” for 15million voters who were not wailers.

Daddy Muhammad Buhari should try to be always saying kind words about our national first lady, our beautiful dear mother, Her excellency Aisha M. Buhari, the mother of President M. Buhari’s children that will carry his good name into the future after when our almighty God/Allah called him into beyond one day. Also, President M. Buhari should create a porfolio role office in Aso Rock presidential palace for our beautiful and dear mother Her excellency Aisha M.Buhari to be playing the key role for Nigerian welfare Affairs for women into overseeing the whole social vices issues/problem such like selling babies crime, women trafficking, Child-girls marriages, and motherless babies social homes effective management in the entire Nigeria. Furthermore, Our mother surely deserves apology from our president M. Buhari, who should immediately apologise to our Her excellency Aisha M. Buhari for only unkindly classifying her as a kitchen status right in front of german woman Angela Merkel of Germany, the president and premier of a world strongest economy and most richest European country which is well above Nigeria’s lowest and poor economic indices nation these days. Her excellency Aisha M.Buhari is the most best friend to Buhari which he should by now suppose to realized it. This is a woman who does stood by him in Thick & Thin period, and even when Buhari was campaigning for his presidential election in 2015, our mother Aisha M.Buhari did campaign so hardest too. So, she should not only be assigned to kitchen status, (as low dignity), and other rooms. Also, Buhari should stop from now henceforth from calling our mother with a derogatory and low grade tone about her, please Daddy Buhari.

If you think Aisha Buhari is speaking because of the hardship across the land then you are yet to understand her interest. don’t be surprise by tomorrow the dust will settle, she will be given oil block and some slots to fill and that be the end of the show

How can someone make such a crude statement standing side by side with Angela Merkel, a woman and German Head of State? He wasted his trip to Germany. Its a disgrace to him and Nigeria.

I don’t think that Buhari is very smart. For example, why was it so urgent for him to write a biography after just one year in office? Why was it so urgent for him to pass uncomplimentary remarks on people like Tinubu? It was a ploy by the fifth columnist to alienate him from those who helped him to power in order to strip him naked and they did it in a very clean manner.

Daura, Aba Kyari and others lived in a Nigeria where all key government positions (customs, immigration, police, prison, airways…just name it) were held by northerners. To get a good job in the public service at that time, you had to know someone who knew a very influential Hausa/Fulani person. So, When you hear them invading judges homes and sacking people from their jobs, they may be using the anti-corruption agenda as a cover to re-impose northern domination. That is their agenda, not the APC agenda. But I don’t think they can succeed because things have changed drastically and Nigeria is now more complicated that it was in the 1980s.

Mr. President you are wrong by saying such statements cos you are not only our president but the father of the nation. How dare you to say such things about your wife? Seems you are totally detached from what’s going on globally. What do you think is sinking trump in the polls? – his crude behaviours to women. It’s time for you northern men to encourage northern women to leave your kitchens and be independent. Oshibajo dare not say that in SW or else we shall crucify him. What Aisha said and your response means that the two of you hardly communicate with each other. Let me tell you that I have been married to my wife for almost 40 years and she has been and still my best friend my partner in progress my confidant and everything. The international community will now label you as “the trump of Africa “. You northern / Muslim men should abandon your ultra conservative views about women and uplift them to higher standards. I’m one of your staunch supporters but on this issue you goofed and told Nigerians / the world that you are a sexist a bigot when it comes to women. I hope you will learn how to behave on the international stage. Aisha is a beautiful intelligent and elegant woman and she deserves our respect as the first lady and the mother of the nation. SHE DOES NOT BELING TO YOUR KITCHEN MR. PRESIDENT PERIOD.

    • Reasonable

@sammyctu ode, ok. tell us where does she belongs in the presidential villa?

  • kayode Olufade

As she has her right to make the assertations she did he too has the right to make the suggestions he did, was he right though to air such remarks in public? I believe he could’ve handled it with more finesse but this is PMB we are talking about. I don’t believe he is all about women in the kitchen if not he wouldn’t send his daughters to school also he wouldn’t marry a graduate, butnim not here to defend him. Mrs Aisha showed good courage to say the things she did because it is obvious that Mr Babachir -SGF, Mr Daura-director DSS, (2 other names escape me now) wield more power than anyone in this administration. We are going to make our feelings known in 2019 but meanwhile we have to make sense of our existence in this country by taking advantage or opportunities and pray to God that even though things ain’t working well for others we have insight on how to take advantage of our present position. God bless us all

he went for help and ended up pissing them off unknowingly. CLASSIC BABA

Poor Angela Merkel, she must be wondering why me? What has she has done inviting a misogynist Nigeria Neanderthal man? She is already in deep waters over her invitation of (Syrian) refugees into her country — her popularity has fallen and she might lose the next election. And then comes this Nigerian Neanderthal man to make more German women voters turn against her for inviting him; and standing next the Nigerian mørøn as he puts down his wife before the world audience.

  • Excisionist

The impression one has about northern Nigeria Muslim women is that they are neither meant to be seen nor heard. But Mrs Buhari has shown herself to be different, apparently due to her education and family background. She is highly educated compared to Buhari and she comes from a powerful well to do family there in the North.

Her statements in the interview show that she can connect with the feelings and aspirations of ordinary Nigerians. She can as well connect with their sufferings at this time and, despite the risks, she is not afraid to say it. By this, she has earned my respect and, I believe, the respect of millions of Nigerians. She thinks like a true leader. The one that Nigeria is yet to have.

@thussspokez has described the consequence of Buharis’ reaction in the most appropriate way. He talks like someone who does not understand the world we live in. He has stirred the hornet’s nest. Not ony German women, women around the world, Particularly in the West will be up in arms. I pity Buhari, not because o what Aisha said but because of consequences of his own reckless utterances

  • Otile

You are right, the President applied humor to deflect the tricky jab the First Lady landed on him.

  • emmanuel

Wait a minute, is the rate women go naked in public these days to gain acceptability and patronage not delibrate effort to write-off the significant achievement of lot of women in public spaces?
Are those naked women not saying we are good for the other room, please look at me?
Today, one semi-naked lady passed through Abuja Airport, another one who call herself a Noloywood celebrity showed her plus sized boods in her usual form.
I beg make women they respect themselves. Are the women trying to return us back to the stone age when people went naked?
AB, we don pass stone age, women are not for cooking and bed warming. You can pay for a lady cook and get the services of an Asewo, but they cannot replace a wife.

  • Reasonable

All men are pretenders, some of you beat up your wives, starve them of food and sex at home yet spend hugely on your girlfriends outside, have regular sex with them and complain of tiredness when at home. Fight them if they didn’t cook (kitchen) for you on return, beat them the day you demand sex in (your room, her room, dinning room, siting room) and they say they are tired too. How many of you would take it lightly if your wife openly criticized you at the instance of your friends or media about your inability to provide for the house keep. How many of you men here did not fall into the above scene?
