The Nigerian Army has confirmed that militants killed one of its personnel in Bakassi Local Government Area of Cross River on Saturday.

Sani Usman, the Director of Army Public Relations, who confirmed the incident in a statement, however, said the troops killed two of the militants in the attack that occurred in the morning.

He linked the attack to Benjamin Simplee, aka G1, a suspected militant leader.

According to Mr. Usman, the other militants escaped with gunshot wounds.

He said the attackers also burnt a military pick-up vehicle.

Mr. Usman said two soldiers earlier declared missing in the attack were found when reinforcement was sent to the area.

He said the militants came in several speed boats and attacked troops deployed at Efut Esighi waterfront in Bakassi.

“The troops’ location has been reinforced with more gunboats and air component. The clearance and pursuit operation is ongoing,” he said.

“We would like to assure the public that this singular act would not deter us from the discharge of our duties.

“Therefore, the perpetrators of this dastardly act would be found and brought to justice.

“The Nigerian Army wishes to send an unequivocal warning to all the criminal elements in the society that intend to attack any of its locations to have a rethink,” Mr. Usman said. (NAN)

It gladdens my heart to know that our protectors – our hope, our help, our savior (The noble freedom fighters of the Niger Delta Country) are doing well at the battle front. Our prayers and spirit of fight to finish is with you. We love you. We know you will not buckle under the empty threats of useless fighter Jets here and there because we know you can bring them down with ease when the time comes…and perhaps even pursue any you fail to bring down to its destination if need be. Our resolve is resolute and so shall it be. We must defend our land and most importantly our NATURAL RESOURCES which Heathens from the North and other parts of Nigeria have plundered for too long. If Britain’s Laggard made a mistake in 1914, then it is never too late to correct that error. Our ancestors were not Nigerians. Why then must we be forced to remain in Nigeria of the daft, brainless and dunce? Never. Not our will.

Well done, God bless all our soldiers of the Niger Delta.

For all Niger Delta citizens living in any occupied area, make sure you play your part in this war. Provide information to the good and not to the evil invaders. I know you know what I mean. God less you as you do so.
